Be careful if you still go Hoops, as I watched several central Iowans go off the road last year and the year before. Usually right after passing me. Maybe they don't teach the theory of reducing your speed for the conditions there. So my tip for the day is that 4WD doesn't do you any good if you exceed the traction barrier....................

This is the second year in a row that bad weather is threatening to mess up the first weekend's games.

No I'm out.  I'll reschedule the trip for later in the year.

It looks like January 12th against Lake Forest is the best option.

Despite the ice storm, I promise that Carroll and Lawrence will get to play in a well heated Glennie gymnasium. Not a sub 50 degree gym in Waukesha that plagued the MC-CC game last year.

i think it was like 40 degrees in there that day, that was brutal, even worse was monmouth pulling the upset

IC 71 BC 35. I now see why they are shooting such a low percentage this year. Poor shot selection. They're caught up in the same mentality that lots of teams are these days. Get it in the paint or shoot a 3. Once upon a time there was a thing called a mid-range jumper and when they took a few of those tonight they actually went down pretty well. Need to take more of them instead of driving into traffic and forcing up shots that aren't there.

Defensively I thought they played pretty well. IC went on a streak where they couldn't miss a 3 that really blew it open. IC has a couple good shooters on their team so defenses need to beware. BC simply has to play smarter on offense however or they won't accomplish much this year. But for now they are 0-1 which means they can still go 15-1  ;)

Roop, I really feel for you and respect you for being a loyal fan of Beloit.    They are bad bad bad I am afraid.

I am pleased and a bit surpirsied  to see LU easily handled LF tonight.   I would say that confirms my belief that Grinnell and LU run away from the rest of the Confernece, but time will tell.   That is a big blow out for LU as they lost there last year.  Saturday game at MM is equally important.

If they were getting torched for 90 points a game I would agree, but they're not. A few minutes of sloppiness after it was out of hand allowed IC to get to 71, otherwise they would have been held under 60. So you should win games like that but not when you only average 41 a game.

The guys were smart enough to get into Beloit now they just need to translate that into good decision making on the court. I don't think they are a great shooting team but they are creating their own misses right now.

Wow, nice win for LU tonight.  Again, Dekker provides the scoring punch off the bench.  We'll see how they do against the MC Vershawers tomorrow, but the new coach is off to a great start!

I agree

I certainly did not see Knox winning against Ripon.   No way.  Huge upset for the Siwash and setback for Ripon.

GC 100, SN 87.

The final score does not represent the game. SN led much of the game, GC generally keeping it within 4-6. Excellent SN defense, shutting down a good part of the GC 3 pointers.

Then GC caught fire around 8 minutes from the end and SN crumbled. Strong performances by Schmidt, Grotberg, Knisley, Chamberlain, and a few key plays by Idrissa. Congrats to GC and here's hoping they left something for Carroll tomorrow!

Not so fast Nut. Keep in mind that one of those "whoever the heck else" teams upset Grinnell in the tournament last year. Which allowed Carrolls run in the NCAAs because I don't think they beat Grinnell in Grinnell if things had gone as planned.

Any LAKE FOREST or other fan:

Anyone know why Sean McNamee DNP for Lake Forest last night?
Thanks

jeffdc

Was told last night that the GC/CC game will happen today, despite a major ice storm, as CC got into town last night.

Now if the rest of us can just slide our way to Darby!
