On a more serious note Ken Hendricks, the founder of ABC Supply Co. died this morning at his home after he fell from his roof.  For those of you who do not know of him, he was a huge part of Beloit's community.  He and his wife both received honorary degrees at last years graduation ceremony for their commitment, hard work and support they had put into the Beloit community.  This is a HUGE loss for the community including Beloit College.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, family, friends, and all of  the southern Wisconsin community whos lives he has changed.

After thinking about that announcement for 12 hours or so, I'm still in shock.

My dad bumped into him a few times but I never had the pleasure of meeting Kenny myself. With the exception of "The Manor" restaurant, I think everything else he bought turned to gold over night. He brought a ray of light to the community when it was in the midst of urban blight and will be greatly missed.

"Who's the knucklehead that bought the Arlans building and actually thinks he can make something of it ??". Lots of people said in the early 80's. Well, Kenny obviously saw some potential and now the "upstart" ABC Supply is nationwide.

Worth more than "The Donald" and Oprah; yet still drove himself around in his Jeep Cherokee with no body guards. Semper Fi Mac.................

MWC fans, what's the word on Ripon?  I am going to see the Ithaca-Ripon game down here in Daytona Beach on Saturday and wanted to get a fan's scouting report on IC's opposition.

EDIT: Also for my own education, how is Ripon pronounced...I'm guessing RIPE-un but there's a lot of different ways one could say it.

I believe the first sylabol? is pronounced like,

Barry Bonds RIPS a home run....................... or

Barry Bonds RIPS a needle into his arm.  :D

Correct pronunciation of Ripon....................

Ripping with only the "n" sound at the end. Not the "ng" sound.

Simpson 74 BC 59.

Now they face Presentation College on Saturday. I'll take Old School, Early, Sager and Ypsi to be on my team and we could beat Presentation. Should Beloit lose this one only Rockford stands in the way of a perfect season in my opinion.

I'm glad that James Weber has returned. Probably not the most talented player on the floor but he made improvements from his freshman to sophomore year. Now he transfers back to Beloit and leads the team in scoring vs. Simpson in only 17 minutes of playing time. So I have to ask the following: Where's the heart on this team ??

Losing to Simpson certainly isn't a crime but they need to get things together and win one soon or there might not be any wins this year. Just like I say when I go fishing "The sooner we get the skunk out of the boat the sooner we'll have a good day".

Scott Gillespie went a little crazy last night. Not shabby for your seventh collegiate game. Only about 100 more career games to refine his game.

After Stevens Point played them, I said that I was pretty impressed with the guy.  A poster responded and said he could've easily gone D1, but stayed home to play for dad.  Ripon has lost a lot of close games, including the Point game.  They are only 2-5, but I think they will cause a lot of problems the rest of the MWC year.

Yeah, he got some looks from low-end D-I schools. He definitely could be a star at the D-II level, IMO. Glad he stuck around my area and decided to play for Bob. He's a fun one to watch.

Besides his dad, I think he chose Ripon, in part, because he can also play baseball at the school – something the D-I and D-II schools would not allow. He's a stud on the diamond as well.

Beloit tops Presentation!!!! and St. Norb's smokes Rockford

It would've been nice if both Beloit and Rockford were 0-fer the season going into their matchup later this month. BOOOOO Beloit! lol.

Sorry you're disappointed Tom but Beloit will take the win. Besides, you can't possibly be as disappointed as I am after seeing AVP-R today. Or as I will call it from now on "Scary Movie meets Aliens". Plot development and acting were both conspicuous by their absence. I say wait for the video release if you simply must see it.

I'm not very familiar with St. Francis but if Beloit just relaxes and plays I think they have a chance on Sunday. Take Robert Morris (Chicago) out and I'm not sure how strong the CCC is top to bottom this year.

I'm not disappointed, I guess I felt that way because I had Beloit in my "winless" pool! lol.  Anyway, I've heard rumblings that AVP (the first one) was actually better than the 2nd, much more violent, Rated R for a reason, one...and that doesn't bold well because the first one sucked...oh well.  I rented The Kingdom yesterday and that made it three times I've seen that.

The last Jamie Foxx movie that had him carrying a gun (the horrible Miami Vice) sucked, but The Kingdom kicked major booty, IMO.

Big game in the National Pick Em league as I have Rockford v Beloit!

Didn't somebody say that IC was better than most people anticipated this year ?? Oh that's right, I said it so it must be true................

Tom, Are we betting anything on the upcoming Beloit-Rockford Showdown and do you require any points ??

LOL.  I have no idea how "bad" Beloit is supposed to be, but Rockford just looks like a real bad YMCA team.  It really must be tough for those players and their one coach.  I realize Whitewater is pretty good and they lost by 53 to them, but they also came up 49 points short against St. Norb's.  I think 9 1/2 points and Rockford for $200, Alex! j/k.  After yesterday's game, I'm taking Beloit in the National Pick Em League, but not sure how many confidence points (1-7) I'll give them.  BTW, I thought you were going to be the newest Pointer fan this year and make your way down from Wausau to Quandt.  Where have you been?

Congrats to Carroll on winning the holiday tourney they played in.  It may not just be Grinnell and Lawrence battling it out this year.
