OK roop..............two deep breaths...now it is gone.

I know all about Evelyn, who the heck is Mavis...a speed typist?  or did he play for Beloit?  or both?

Dude

matblake

Ah, Mavis Beacon.  To load her typing program on a Commadore 64, do the following:

Insert disk into disk drive.
Type: Load "*",8,1
The program loads and you can begin learning the "home row" keys in your first lesson.

The Roop

It must be approaching tournament time as matblake is on our board again. Tell us about the Heartland Conferences chances in the upcoming post season mat.

They do not do that crap to D1 schools, why do it to D3?

Probably because the NCAA doesn't make MILLIONS from the D3 schools...anyway, my point isn't comparing LU and Edgewood, it's the fact that it happened 3 years ago.

Good luck to the GC squad today! It will be a tough one - a road game AND against LFC. Here's hoping the flu sweeping campus hasn't hit the team!

Anybody up for a Roop Car Story ?? Too bad, you're getting one anyway. 20 miles short of Appleton today and the car wants to shake itself off the road. The road was rough but not that bad. It didn't take long to figure out that it was the transmission in the process of seizing up so I turned around, crossed my fingers and headed for home some 65 miles away. I know that because I just filled the tank this morning and reset the trip odometer. All the way back I'm thinking "Good thing Progressive includes roadside assistance with all their policies as I may need it".

I'm online so I obviously made it but I guess I'm not supposed to see any more games this year. Including today this makes 4 times that I have planned on getting to a game but haven't been able to. First I had to work, then it snowed, then I got sick and it snowed but today tops it all. The car died less than 2 months after $600 worth of repairs got it back on the road after the other one died.

Rum and coke and keep them coming..............................

Well it's not completely one sided as Lawrence did miss 2 free throws. At the half LU 43 Beloit 22.

Grinnell pulls away by 10 with about 5 minutes left in the game, plays "real basketball" to finish the game... wins 103-88.  Interestingly enough, Lake Forest passed up about 10 layups to pull the ball back out and waste time during the game... prompting the question: "Why give up 2 easy points just to slow the game down?"  It simply doesn't work against a team like Grinnell, who will just continue to play fast regardless of what the opposition does.

Then for reasons unbeknownst to anyone, LFC abandoned their gameplan and stopped playing the slowdown in the second half when they were behind by 2 points, and that was when Grinnell pulled away.

Congrats to the Pioneers on their big win and with another good week of games they should be able to secure a playoff berth!

GC/LFC:

Great game, guys!  Based on the 1st half, I figured it would be a down-to-the-wire finish, but as GCFan posted, they pulled away and then built on a slim lead. Solid performances by Long, Grotberg, Arsenault, Idrissa, Schmidt, Mahaffey.

I too was a bit mystified by LFC's strategy in the last 10 minutes. Plus the MWC-TV had NO AUDIO for the entire 2nd half. So it was a guessing game as to what was happening on court at times.

According to the MC website...

Monmouth 77, Illinois C. 66

Congrats to the Fighting Scots on picking up a win in the last home game of the season and good luck in the final 2 games on the road to finish the year out.

Go Scots!

It didn't really matter in this one but I had LU missing 7 free throws. That's not going to get it done in the post season.

Beloit couldn't buy an outside shot in this game but I didn't think they were going to win anyway. LU still moves the ball well even though Tharp is gone. Congrats to LU as this should wrap up the regular season title and hosting rights.

Well, my life-long dream to meet the infamous "Roop" was dashed to pieces.   Through my tears, I at least got to watch a Lawrence win.  Roop had the game pegged about right, LU went out to a 20 point lead in the first half, but seemed to lose their intensity in the second half.  Credit to Beloit - they played hard the entire game.  LU was uncharacteristically bad from the foul line, but that may relate to the lack of focus.
