Crazy, but the Fighting Scots would be the fourth playoff team if they could have reversed the outcome in their two overtime defeats (vs. St. Norbert, at Grinnell). At 9-7, they would have won the tiebreaker by having a head-to-head win over another 9-7 team, St. Norbert.

It just goes to show what a very fine line there is between winning and losing in this league.

Maverick, found out that Eric Grant is ill, which is why he missed the final two games. Fair to say that Gruber (21 points, six boards last night) stepped up and answered the call in style.

schwanman - Very good points on the Fighting Scots' overtime losses, real close to being the fourth playoff team instead of one of the first non-playoff teams.  Also, thanks for the info on Grant--I figured it had to be something like sickness or a bad injury for him to miss those last 2 games.  Gruber certainly did step up big time against LFC and that, along with all the youth that got experience this season, will definitely be important going into next year.  Maybe bring back a certain saying from a certain scottie for the 2008-09 season?  ;)

Go Scots!

Per the D3hoops.com news............. 13-15 John Jay has the first bid in the tournament. This knocks out one qualified Pool C candidate. As I've previously stated many times, eliminate automatic bids and consider everyone under Pool C criteria. The NCAA would save millions by doing that as it would only need to be a 32 team tournament.

There may be years in which the MWC doesn't get an entrant but it's up to the MWC to simply get better. The expanded field means that all potential national champions are now in the tournament. It wasn't always that way.

It would knock out a C ONLY if the conference had a team expected to be the AQ who was now a lock for a C, but that is not the case.  The CUNYAC will simply send a poorer team to the tourney (John Jay instead of York), but no pool C spot was taken.

The Roop

I thought about that after I posted. However, I still think somebody just got knocked out.

Prior to their 4 game "upset" streak to get the bid, John Jay lost 6 of their last 7. This team simply does not belong in the tournament, yet they are. I would say the same thing if the MWC invited everyone and Beloit won it.

Some regions are better than others so John Jay might actually win a game or two considering where they are located.

I would trust Pat, and the rest of the D3 folk, to assist the NCAA in putting together a 32 team tournament. If a certain conference gets 4 or 5 teams in then so be it.

Good luck to GC in their final regular season game today against IC.

And thanks to seniors Schmidt, Chamberlain, Guzman, Fox, and Laine. It's been fun watching you guys for the past 4 years!
Threes are better than twos....

Is Chamberlain old enough to drive yet ??

Chuck is right, Roop. No Pool C berth was lost due to John Jay's upset win in the CUNYAC finals, because York (NY) will not get a Pool C berth. The CUNYAC almost always only gets one team into the dance, and this year will be no exception.

That's a pointless plea, because it will never happen. The NCAA values participation for its various member institutions above all other priorities, and the way that this is demonstrated in terms of competition is to give each qualifying member conference an automatic bid to the national tournament in each team sport. This policy is fixed on all three divisional levels, and it isn't going to change. Why bang your head against the wall arguing for something that will never happen?

Because "Metal Health" has driven me mad............. Thanks for the perfect lead in ;)

At the half Ripon 39 Beloit 28. Ripon couldn't miss for the first 15 minutes, Beloit cut it to 6 then Ripon took off again.

Carroll down 11 with 2 min to go

Lawrence dominates down the stretch, wins 92-80 good luck to both teams next week in Appleton.  Carroll is gonna need to get their game going or probably wont make it past friday.

Ripon 84 Beloit 67. Sloppy game for the Bucs as they never found their stroke. As good as their freshman are going to be in a year or two Ripons frosh are better at this point. Good game for Cody Bysted to close out his career, unfortunately it was in a losing effort.

carrollfan, stick around.  We need more Pioneer (non-GC variety) representation on the board.

After a tie in the first half, LU wins the second half 49-37 to avenge their only conference loss and finish the season 15-1 in the conference.  Only a Hail Mary 3-pointer away from a perfect conference season.... Oh well.  On to the tournament!

Wow, a Carroll poster. I didn't think the Huber Law applied to internet access.  ;)

Roop, did Horton play?  He left the LU game looking like he had re-injured his ankle.

Also, anyone have a GC-IC or KC-LFC score?
