The Roop

Actually Beloit was kicked out of the MWC in the 50s because they were too successful.

When you're up 17 @Lawrence (unless you're Grinnell) TAKE THE AIR OUT OF THE BALL. Coach Schultz made good use of his time outs last year and it got them to where they went. I'm not a Carroll hater but how can you give up a lead like that ?? LU was ripe for the picking as they were already in the dance; and played like it for the first half.

LU gave Carroll this game and Carroll gave it back. Thus sayeth The Roop.

Roop, I hate to disagree with you, but Carroll did not give the game away.  Lawrence increased their intensity on defense and finally got a few shots to fall.  CC was working the ball every possession, but they just didn't score enough.

For anyone interested, here are the game pictures from the Post Crescent and here is the game story.

Didn't realize until reading the post-crescent game story that Rosenblat was hurt for LU and didn't play.  Thats an even bigger guttier win for LU now in my opinion.  This team could be an interesting sleeper to go deep into the tournament depending on their draw.

Looking at a possible UW-Whitewater/Lawrence matchup?

If they decide to screw LU over, then in round 2 i could see it, probably at Whitewater which would really suck, but no earlier i would assume.

It will depend on whether Whitewater gets a bye or not.  if they do, then I can see LU hosting a 4 team pod for the first two rounds.  If neither Augie or Whitewater get a bye, I see LU going to one of those two places and having to play one or the other in the second round assuming both teams advance.

D3 hoops predicts LU to get a 2 seed in a bracket and (I think) host a "quad" playing Loras and then the winner of Wash U. and Aurora.  That would certainly work for me.

Based on the projections Lawrence would be hosting.

@Lawrence 2 vs. Loras 7
Wash U. 3 vs. Aurora 6

Assuming I split the teams up correctly the other half of the bracket would be:

@Augustana 1 vs. Fontbonne 8
UW-SP 4 vs. Chicago 5

We'll know for sure in a few hours.

According to Mapquest St. Louis and Appleton are 457 miles apart. So nobody would have to fly but............... It wouldn't surprise me if they swapped Wash U. for Point then Chicago and Fontbonne to avoid a first round UAA match up. This would likely increase attendance at both venues and avoid a long trip for one team. It would pretty much guarantee another split session at LU, which is fine with me as I'd only have to go 30 minutes to get my ticket at Point for their game and I'd say that "my sources" could get me a ticket for the LU game.

I could even see them swapping Loras and Chicago for travel reasons otherwise you would have teams crossing each others paths to get to their respective tournaments. 45 minutes to go.............

scewed.  In my opinion, no way we should be going to play at a West location.   I do not think anyone from the CCIW had Wheaton getting in.

Teams of regional interest:

@UW-Whitewater vs. Loras
Lawrence vs. Wheaton

@Augustana vs. Aurora
Wash U. vs. Wooster ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Where do they buy their maps at.

@St. Thomas (MN) vs. Buena Vista
Chicago vs. UW-Stevens Point

Hey, what do you know.  The NCAA goes random again.  The sad thing is that Pat and the D3hoops crew probably put 10 times as much thought into the bracket as the committee that actually did the brackets.  Oh well.  I see that Occidental gets a bye to save a few bucks.

That's exactly why they did that.

What a F-ing Joke.  Unbelievable that LU has to face Whitewater in the second round assuming both teams advance, and St. Thomas gets to host a regional.  Unfrickingbelievable.
