Andrew

I cannot argue with much that has been written.  Obviously, I know a great deal more about LU than Wheaton.  I have heard about Raymond and heard he is terriffic.

LU's best player is also their shooting guard Kroeger.  He will be POY in the conference.  They moved to an up temp 3 guard offense this year which has served them well.   They do have two good post guys, but they may not move like the two NCC guys(at least one of them).   They do go 10 or 11 deep and play all of them.  Their calling card for the last 5 years has been great defenses, a very good shooting percentage and solid rebounding.  I think this years team has been strong on offense and not quite as strong as past teams on defense.
They do run a motion offense and are very unselfish.   The new coach has pushed the right buttons so far.

They do tend to play man to man.  I am sure they will try a few different people on Raymond.    I look for a close game.

I am hopeful that Loras gives WW a game.  While Loras is a clear underdog, a good game would not shock me.  Loras was in the dance last year and has played well as of late.

Go Vikes.

The Roop

Fear not LU fans, The Roop will be in the house for both of your victories in the Whitewater Regional. FYI. UW-Whitewater lets you reserve tickets over the phone with a credit card. Somebody thought of that not long ago so LU might want to keep it in mind for the future.  ;)

I expect to see Old School, wc2viking, give me a mirror and I will see myself; then can we possibly have the one and only diehardfan there too ?? She didn't get a geographic bye but Wheaton is in so she's gotta be there.  A Pril, A Pril, A Pril....................

Lawrence wins this one and they will battle Point for a trip to Salem. Tough early rounds for the Vikings but it can be done. Do the MWC proud...............

Love to see a Point and LU rematch, but I think they are in different brackets.  It looks like if LU can beat the number 2 ranked WW on their court(if they get by Wheaton), their reward will be a trip to number 1 ranked Hope.

I love the NCAA.   I think the MWC needs to get a bit more clout on some committees.   Couldn't they leave the old Beloit coach on the committee????  Doesn't seem like the Anderson coach worried too much about our little conference of misfits.

1(262) 472-2222 is the Whitewater ticket office.

After Lawrence wins this regional, they will host again.

My bad Nut. LU still wins and hosts because Capital beats Hope and Centres schedule is questionable.

Hope has a better reputation than they actually are.............

Post Season awards are up on the MWC site.

Kroeger gets POY
Heimann gets COY

Helps to play on the championship team or to retire.

Surprised that Chamberlain wasn't HM, but apparently missed too many games.

Ok..I know you non-LU fans are sick of our rants, but come on.  I like Heimann, and its nice they wanted to give him a nice parting gift, but you've got to be kidding me.  A MWC coach wins the conference title in his first season since 1957 and doesn't get MWC coach of the year....jeesh, what else does he have to do??

The Roop

The All Roop Team:

Eric Bieniasz (forgive any spelling errors) "St. Norbert"
Andy Horton "Beloit"
Laird Walker "Lake Forest"
Les Ladwig "Carroll"
Pat Kenny "Beloit"

I've excluded LU players because they will have plenty nominated already. I'm not creating a "System team" or I would have had Bobby Long on my roster.

Pick 5 that you've actually seen in person and top mine.............

Not going to argue on Heimann. His team did better than expected, but they were 8-15 overall. That's the COY?!

But you could argue that Kroeger's strongest argument for POY is that he played for the team that won the conference. Beyond that, he's very good, but I think there are arguments that there were better players. Heck, with Heimann as a precedent, you could argue that Horton is a better choice for POY. In MWC games, Horton was 5th in scoring and 1st in RB. Kroeger led in 1 category: FT %. That's nice, but hardly something to hang your hat on. I think Lagwig might have been a better choice as well.

Hard to argue COY when you got the benefit of the doubt on POY...

:-\

On the plus side, 7 of the 11 players on the 1st and 2nd team will be back next year. Should make it interesting.

I can't really disagree on the Ladwig point.  He had just as deserving a season as Kroeger.  The only point I'll make for Kroeger is the intangables, he's cluthch when LU needs him to be.  See the three pointer vs SNC in the semi-finals.  The other argument is where was he the first 39 minutes..which I can't refute.

I think Jo Jo got screwed, but you won't see me arguing the fact that Kroeger is the most deserving POY

All Roop Ladies Team................. 2 nominees.

"Tall" Jenny Stoner (Lawrence) and Angie Meehan (Beloit). These are two ladies that left everything on the court. The game was never over until it was over. I've seen both several times and effort is what I noticed about both of them. Jenny had some injury problems this year but she is still "All Roop". Because I said so............

Angie had the rainbow 3 and it was "string music" in the making when she let it go. The Lady Bucs made the MWC Tournament this year but fell to St. Norbert in the first round 60-55.

Whether the Conference gives these ladies accolades, I certainly do. Maybe All Roop will mean something.

Agreed.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

I will vote for the Lawrence fan who was wearing jersey #50 in the front row of the student section at Friday night's MWC tourney semi-final game.  She cheered really well.  I wonder if she will cheer that well at the Whitewater regional (You know who I'm talking about, Rooper). If she's there, she could make the All-Region team.  :D

I'm not sure she is a player, I think she just happened to be wearing a jersey like half of the student section was.

Hey roop, I have a team that could compete with yours i believe:
Hoch Carroll, Averaged 16 a game, 3rd in assists,
Long, Grinnell, Averaged 22 a game, 10th in assists, top 5 in steals
Kellet Ripon, Averaged 17 a game,16th in boards, top ten in steals and blocks
Rees Lake Forest, Averaged 14 a game, 15th in assists, 3rd in boards, top 5 in steals
Chamberlain Grinnell
And my guard off the bench would be Jandron, post would be Meuller.

I think these five guys would compete with your squad roop, if not come out on top. All the guys are in the top for rebounding, points, assists, and steals. Hoch had a terrific year at Carroll and nearly beat grinnell by himself in the playoffs, long's stats speak for themselves, i believe he would thrive in any "system", Kellet was underrated at ripon, should have been all conference in my opinion, granted his team finished at the bottom, Rees is just a player. Does everything right. Chamerberlain had his season cut short, would have been interesting to see what Grinnell would have done with him healthy all year.

Ps. Roop, all my guys can stroke free throws to, if the game came down to that.
