Larry, didn't want to hurt your feelings, just trying to help you turn that paper into an A + instead of an A, or if you are not a student, help you get over in whatever is your thing.  anyway, forget about it, go Vikings!

Definately a Newbie....

Definitely a Lawrence (former) student! lol...I think it was supposed to be a joke.

Any experts from the MWC think that anyone will challenge the Top 3 of Lawrence, Carroll and Grinnell?

Will St. Norb's step up to the plate?  Can Lake Forest return to Top 4 form?  Will I go broke bankrolling The Roop to Salem?

Inquiring minds want to know!

The Wyndham Roanoke is already booked for that weekend so you will be able to get off cheap on the hotel portion of the trip. Lawrence, St. Norbert, Carroll, Grinnell, Ripon, Beloit, pick-em.
So you should be safe as I can't see a 6th place team getting a Pool C.

Roopster:

I'd rather get shipped out  west than play all the CCIW and WIAC teams.   The Midwest is loaded, making it very difficult to get out.    Much of LU's post season success over the past 5 years was when they were matched up against teams outside the core of the MidWest, even on the road...Buena Vista on the road, Gustavas on the road, St. Thomas home, etc.   Having to work your way through the WAIC, the CCIW and plus Wash U. makes things tough for everybody in the MW.   LU has had some regular season success against the top conferences, beating Platteville, Oshkosh numerous times, and Carthage, but less success against those conferences in the post season.

Should be an interesting season again.

I see where 12 of the 19 players on the Lake Forest roster are freshmen. Only 7 returners if all the upperclassmen listed played last year. Talk about a young team. Wow. The LF coaching staff sure will have their work cut out for them.

The Roop

Last I heard there are 2 that are not returning to the LF team this season, so they just got even younger. As I recall 1 transfered and the other has elected to not play in order to concentrate on his studies in order to get into Veterinary school.

Beloit has 8 freshmen (and they are actually called freshmen for a change) and *6 returnees.

What's the tally around the conference ??

*1 sat out last year due to injury but did play 2 seasons ago.

Titan AQ...Wheaton will be picked second behind Augie in the CCIW, if not first...book it

Augie is certainly a lock to be favored.

Elmhurst returns an All-American big guy - 6-9 Brent Ruch, who has a legitimate chance to be a 1st Team AA in '08-09.  In addition, they return 2nd Team All-CCIW performer Ryan Burks, who will be one of the CCIW's elite players this coming year.  The Bluejays also brought in a couple impact recruits and return a number of other key players.

Illinois Wesleyan's young '07-08 team beat Kent Raymond and Wheaton 3 times last year, returns a ton, and had a great recruiting year.

We'll see I guess.

You were right, and I was wrong, fightintitan2006...

Yep. Kudos to Bob, but more kudos to you, ft2006, for going against the conventional wisdom around the league and being proved right in the end.

Bring this back to MWC basketball......
Hard-hitting, insightful preview of the LU cagers in the latest Lawrentian (student newspaper).  :)

The big question for LU is if they can replace the rebounding and inside defensive presence of Andy Hurley.  Of course, bringing back the reigning conference player of the year in Kroeger and a bunch of other experienced players can cover up a lot of defensive shortcomings.  I see LU simply outscoring a lot of teams this year.  Major test in the first game of the season at UW-O.

Should be a fun season!
