Listened to some of the game today, and it seems like this may be a down year for the Oshkosh Titans.  Looks like they have lost a few kids, and they are really going to have to rely on DJ Marsh, DSA, and Miller.  Sounded like every time the Titans closed in the Green Knights had an answer.

Hello compassionate MWC friends and fans...been a long time, I KNOW!!!...few questions...Does our conference do anything with a preseason All-conference team(s)?  if so has anything been put together yet?  Is there going to be a pick em league this year?

Looking forward to rejoining MOST of you for this season...sorry scottie...just kidding, I enjoy your insight and playful jabs.

Firestarter

New poster here!  Knox fan and former player.  Heard from former teammate that they lost to Dubuque by 15-20 points.  Don't know the exact number.  Sounds like a combination of youth and shots not falling did them in.  Moore and Goedeke, two starters, scored zero apiece.  Luckily, it's early.  Still expect them to make some noise this year!

Lake Forest fans have some young players to be excited about.  I just got back from the Lake Forest @ Benedictine game and although Lake Forest lost by 21, freshman center Travis Clark was a stud on the offensive end.  I didn't keep track, but he must have had at least 25 points and 10 boards.  He has a real soft touch around the basket, a great knack for getting to the rebounds and corraling them, and passes well out of the post.  Other than a freshman-like propensity for dumb fouls on the defensive end, he could well end up all-conference as a freshman.  Very exciting player.  Two of their guards were reasons for optimism as well:  6-1 sophomore Victor Campbell and 6'1 freshman Vernard Robinson from Chicago Whitney Young.  With an 18 man roster that includes 12 freshmen, there could be all kinds of surprises in Lake Forest this season.  Lake Forest will struggle with freshman growing pains this season, but there may be reason to be excited about a new force in the conference in the next couple of years.  Although I spend most of my time following the CCIW, I will make it to a few Lake Forest games this year  so maybe I can provide a little Lake Forest perspective that I keep hearing has been lacking on the MWC board the last few years.

30 Victor Campbell..... *  3-12   1-5

thats field goals and 3 point field goals....Pete can you tell me what is exciting about this?

The Roop

With Lake Forest and Knox falling to both teams, we should get an idea early on about Beloit this season as they open at Benedictine Tuesday then go to Dubuque Friday. Horton was supposed to have practiced this past week but I don't know if that means he's 60, 80 or 100% right now. I hope to know more in a day or two.

Glad to see the new faces and a reappearance from Siwash. This proves that Siwash and I are not one and the same. You disappeared about the time I emerged and there was some speculation. LOL. Now I think all we need are some regulars for Carroll again and some first timers from Lake Forest as I never remember anyone posting about them before.

For now I designate petemcb as honorary Lake Forest poster. Don't forget the Beloit @LF game on Jan. 16th as I hope to make that road trip. Should be a festive post game regardless of winner as I'm visiting friends in nearby Waukegan that weekend.

I got to the game late in the first half and might have missed a lot of his early misses.  From the point that I arrived, I would have guessed that he shot closer to 45 % or so.  What was exciting was the speed at which he played and his ability to break down his man and attack the basket.  He has a change of pace that you don't see that often in D3 ball.  For his size, he was active on the boards.  I am not basing my observations on a stat sheet because I haven't seen one.  I just see him as having an exciting speed and style to his play.  I'm not sure that an off shooting night changes that.  My guess is that 3-12 will not be a typical night for him, and as I mentioned, Benedictine looks strong this year.  Tough d, at least last night, both on the perimeter and inside.  Lake Forest didn't seem to have many other outside weapons.  Maybe Benedictine was keying on Campbell, I don't know.  It was my first time watching Lake Forest in two years.  They have 12 freshmen on their roster.  I'm not familiar with them, I just live within an easy drive of the campus, so I'll probably be at a few games this season.

Campbell is a junior, second-year starter and was LFC's best player down the stretch last year...he would have likely been an All-MWC pick if the confrence did a preseason team

He is a proven commodity, althought it sounds like he had a bad game

In last night's program, they had him listed as a sophomore.  Is it possible this is his third year in school but only second in basketball?  I believe he was their best player down the stretch.  He is quick, fast, and potentially a game-changer.

System Error

As for Campbell...he is a third year academically and on the court as well. The book must be wrong. However, he is an excellent athlete and will have a great year on the court.

Saw him play a couple of times last year. Very smooth player. Athletic & quick. Can hit the jumper out to 15 feet, and can effectively slash to the basket and finish.

Knox falls to former MWC foe Cornell tonight.  Knox seems to have a very young team starting two freshman.  Turnovers coupled with offensive inconsistency was the difference in this game.

Interesting notes...two former Scots coaching each team in this game with former Scot's coach Glasgow in the stands.

Gym upgrades were much needed...you can actually see and hear a bit better in the gym.

Starting lineups with the lights out!?!?!?  might need to reconsider this move.

oh yea...guys I've been gone for a while...can someone explain the "Karma" category to me?
