I just wanted to say good luck to CNU tomorrow! I'm among the minority pulling for them on one of my pick-em boards. I hope the Captains prove me right.

This'll be the first game I've ever seen at Pomoco. I hope it's a good one and that everyone stays healthy (although it's fine to make Rowan hurt quite a bit for the next couple of days ;) ).

Normally, my eyes would be focused on Ferrum, but with the buzz in Newport News, I can't pass up the chance to say !!Go Captains!! this one time.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

njlincolnlion - sorry on the wesley thing...the usasac website says wesley plays ferrum...guess that should teach me to get my info. anywhere but the "best source for division iii football information" :)

in that case
ferrum 31 - gcq 17 - quackers will probably be better than last year, but still not good enough to beat panthers

njlincolnlion - i heard that d. leonard wasn't anywhere to be found on the ssu 2 deep and i saw on the roster that he was listed as a SL (slot back?...i'm assuming that's the same as a wing back?) rather than an SB (superback, right?) - i gotta be honest, if that's where leonard is playing, either he's a lot faster than he was as a monarch or ssu wants a big, physical wingback (they are usually quick, shifty players...but i'm just a fan, so what do i know) - i've heard that the monarchs shifted a former tailback to fullback and have been pretty happy with the results - he's not big, but gives the team a dimension leonard didn't...the ability to break a big one from the fb position...we'll see

cnusfinest54

COME ON CNU PULL OUT ONE FOR THE GUYS THAT CANT PLAY ANYMORE. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO TO COME AROUND THAT CORNER ONE MORE TIME AND MAKE A QB FEEL IT. PLAY HARD AND DEFEND HOME.

AS ALWAYS WE WILL BE WATCHING.

mc55ol

I just dont see  leonard playing a wingback type position! He is a quick guy, but he doesnt have that type of speed.

Lets go Monarchs bring home a W!!!!

I'm glad everyone is so optimistic. I'm not, but don't have many hard facts as to why, mostly gut feel and a few facts.

Gut feel - CNU loses big to Rowan. After 4 games is 2-2. But finishes at 8-2 and a top 10-15 ranking. My reason? - O and D lines. Especially the O line - it takes awhile for these guys to mesh as a unit. With 4 new starters (rumor has it 5 new starters today) it will take a few games to get it going and Rowan is not the team you want to start off against.

Facts - a few starters will not start today. And this one hurts - Gary Freeman was called up Friday to active duty to head to New Orleans.  FRIDAY - he was called up FRIDAY!!!!!

pg04

Oh Come on CNU85, can't you help me out!  I picked CNU in the NJAC Pick 'em...can't you give me some good news? lol

cnu85

Bport...what can I say? I'm usually optimistic..but as I age I have become realistic...it sucks....

besides, my dad used to live in B'port.....so I know there's not much for you to do other than post on the board and watch the corn grow....LOL

pg04

Hey,

I don't live there anymore...I live in West Palm Beach Florida now...and my handle used to be portgrad2004 until everything changed...no more watching corn for me...Now it's ducking hurricanes and walking sandy beaches...

narch

it's official...the monarchs will lose today...sammy batten from the fayetteville observer picked them to win 27-21 :) (note that he picked navy over maryland and clemson over tx a&m...i know navy is better than they've been recently and clemson is dangerous, but i don't see EITHER of those happening) - seriously, though, i like the love sammy is giving the monarchs and hope that he's right and i'm wrong

'85 - welcome back!

narch

end of 1st quarter - ssu 7 - mc 7 - monarchs get a punt block and hill punches it in - good work, boys

narch

some fireworks in salisbury - monarchs get a long td, roncketti to doleman, then westbrook returns the ensuing kickoff to the 8 - defense holds ssu to a fg (barely) - mc up 14-10

narch

too much satchell on that drive - ssu up 17-14 - roncketti may be hurt as he wasn't in the last 2 plays of the previous mc drive

time_of_day

7-6 CNU over Rowan at the half.
Rowan dominating statistically.  3 TO's for the Profs.  Missed EP and 2 missed FG's for the Profs as well.
