Hey 85!

Next week should be a good game. I am sure CNU will be just as pumped as Averett was yesterday. I am obviously hoping that the chance to go undefeated and the home crowd will carry the Panthers.

FC has a great offense, but the defense is still concerning me. I understand they possibly lost a linebacker yesterday with a broken rib. I hope that they do well in the playoffs, but doubt we will see them in Salem. I am just happy with where they are, and keeping my fingers crossed for a perfect finish.

Are you going to the game? If so, I will be glad to provide you with the black hat !

Just wanted to say congrats to AU on the win against CNU.  And congrats to Ferrum for sealing up their spot in the playoffs.

All I can say for next week is Captains find a pair of N--S and win your last freaking game.

Here was the pre-season poll: ???

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's football team was tabbed to finish first in the 2005 USA South Preseason Football Poll released Wednesday morning.

The Captains received six first place votes for 48 points. Shenandoah followed with two first place votes and 44 points total. Methodist, Averett and Ferrum round out the top five.

NC Wesleyan was picked to finish sixth, followed by Greensboro and newcomer Maryville (TN).

The Captains and the Hornets shared the 2004 USA South championship. CNU has shared the regular season crown in its first four years of existence.

CNU kicks off the 2005 season Saturday, Sept. 3 at home as they host Rowan (NJ) with kick-off set for 1 pm.

Interesting in how u took the one from CNU's site and not MC's or the USA South's.

Is it basketball season yet??

Question- NOW should Ferrum be ranked in the d3 football poll?

Opinions aside, is their space in the poll, and willt hey get the votes to be a top 25 club for that poll?

I think Ferrum could break into the top 25. #4, #11, #24 and #25 all lost this weekend.  Ther should be a little switching around. Hobart and John Carol might fall out and Ferrum might show up. But Hobart lost to Union who has been receiving more votes. I think Union gets in with their win. Wesley also won big and they are also getting more votes than you guys. But UW eau Claire and Whitworth both lost. I predict that Ferrum comes in at #24.

Sorry Allen C. Union and Wesley replace Hobart and John Carrol at #24 and #25. They can't get any closer. I would think that a big win over the Captains would clearly get you in. I think your strength of schedule is still hurting you.

Conrats to AU....they played very well and deserved to win.  Let's see if we can spoil Ferrum's perfect season next weekend, although the way our defense has been playing, we could very well get stomped.  It's hard to believe how far our defense has fallen since last year.

:o Yea big ups to AU on upsetting CNU, I also agree with you CNUfin.  The o line needs a big set of cohunahs, and stop walking off the field like gigani-
tic boxes rolling down hill.  It's a good thing that CNU dosen't make the playoffs this year, so now they can discover an identity.  This team could be a strong force to reckon with in 3 years to come, if the underclassmen find something to believe in.  And the offensive line play like true football players and push defenders backwards and be strong in the red zone and protect there freaking QB.
This team had more overall speed and depth than the past teams.  Now they just have to forcus on maintaining that playoff competitive edge and running the conference table next year to win the USA SOUTH out right. ;) Oh yea AU QB don't talk so much trash next time.

 >:( Swish it's not the Defensive line, oh! H.... they were back up inside the 20yd line 5x's Saturday, H.... :o give em a chance, they force AU to kick 3 FG's.  The past 3 games the Offensive line as allowed 7 sacks, been in the red zone and scored what only twice in the past 3 games, most of CNU scores latley have been long passes to N. Davis, B. Jones, C. Speight and big rushes set up by R. Hillard. O line get big and strong please. >:( GET A SET OF STEELS ONES)

CNU hasn't ever been an offensive juggernaut, but our defense has been jacked up by every decent team we've played this year.  I thought we could reload instead of rebuild, but the latter has been the case.

i wouldn't be shocked to see fc enter at 24 or 25 - it's not just that they've won the last 2 weeks, it's the way they've dominated in games that they had to win - davis has really given those boys a dose of killer instinct - i have been conducting the "ferrum isn't that good" train all season, but i'm ready to step back and say they are a legit bottom of the top 25 team...not sure if the voters will agree, but they will in a week if fc beats cnu (and if not, they'll def. be a top 25 team if they win a playoff game or 2 :))

??? CNU offensive at one time in the beginning was very versatile and explosive, (Kaveh Conaway, Mario Marin), the coaching staff started to get conservative playing not to lose.  Well I think your reloading statment should be in reverse, The O line should have been rebuilt and the D line reloaded, speed and power all the way across is what you have in the D line.  The O line had started to get playing time near the end of last season , enough time to build upond each week this season. But never the less rebuilding is what you have now on both sides of the ball for the future, even the coaching staff has got to take a different approach to the rebuilding of the team. 8)
