8)Okay now on Ferrum, if you do get in the top 25, it'll be the last spot, because you have a chance to win the conference out right.  You guys don't travel far enough out of the mountains to get power points for a top 25 spot, ;)  :o I will say you will be hard to beat in the mountains this Saturday, but we'll come anyway just to get started on a new year winning streak. And to show you guys how important it is to play and compete against top 25 power houses.  Oh! by the way, :-X Averett has invited mighty MT. Union to it's north campus next year,  :) ;D ???

mosh...i'm not  ;D - i want a share of the conference championship for the monarchs

not to pile on the cnu coaches, but wasn't g. jones a pretty spectacular player as a frosh?  didn't cnu use him in various formations...in the backfield, split out wide, in the slot, etc.? the last 2 years the captains have not done much with him against mc, and that was shocking to me - did he fall out of favor with the coaches? did he not work hard? was he simply overrated as a frosh?  just wondering, if anyone has any info, 'cause he seems to have slipped to an afterthought the last few years

InsideSlant/D you are really  defending the D line and giving the offense a hard time.  I am mad as H--- that CNU has lost the games they have but I am going to go with Swish3 on this one. Bottom line is in the past a CNU defense would have loved to have seen 30 plus points put on the board. Bottom line is AU rushed for 200 plus yards and threw for 250 more in route to scoring 38 points. Thats by no means a dominate performance, I don't care how many field goals a team kicks. CNU has got some MAJOR PROBLEMS period, but for you to come on a message board and point fingers at the other side of the ball is absurd. The way Im looking at things, they could be saying the same thing about the other side of the ball themselves. No need to elaborate more on that situation.

The whole TEAM NEEDS TO GROW SOME. Slant D if your a player for CNU you need to shut your FREAKING mouth. If you are the parent of a player that plays defense (obviously) then I will tell you to do the same. As a former player that helped start football at CNU, I really feel for the seniors on this team.

Mosh the ? is who cheers for Gboro. Please don't start again, Narch you better get your adopted respectful son.  ;)

Captains salvage a disappointing season and beat FC. If you don't mind wrap up a conf ring for the Rocket. He is really a competitor on the field and I can respect that.

Dear coach finest,

I have always listened and agreed to what you have said in the past, but you are not around with this team day to day.   I sure as h%ll am not and will never point fingers at a person, class, or position.  You feel sorry for the seniors as do i.  But dont think for one minute that these seniors havent dropped passes, missed blocks, missed tackles, and been taken deep just like everyone else.  I wish they could have gone out in a different fashion but we cant do anything but win this coming saturday.
Can I have ten thousand marbles please.....

Thanks Pat. I was thinking the same thing. All this speculation and commentary and the poll is already out.  ;D ;D

man - the captains sit on the edge of their first non-winning season and all the fans start to unravel...welcome to our world every season but this one :) - i hope that you need to learn how to deal with losing year-in, year-out - as someone with much experience in this situation, let me offer the following advice:

1.) don't publicly point fingers at individual players or coaches...rather, concentrate on the positive aspects of the season and if you must, talk about weaknesses in broad, general tones (ex. - cnu really improved the kicking game this season...they should be a force next year)
2.) change the subject...you know, suggest that we vote on all-conference or poty or coty awards...anything to avoid talking about how bad your team is
3.) find some obscure statistic that your team is the best in the conference/region/country in, and talk about how great cnu is in that area
4.) talk about how much the team will improve in spring ball and with the new stud recruits coming in
5.) don't put down other poster's from your own school...gotta keep it positive...don't want to stew over games lost for the next 9 months
6.) stop posting here and move over to d3hoops.com
7.) talk about how good your softball, baseball, tennis and golf teams are
8.) begin tabulating potential presidents cup and director's cup points
9.) invent a new statistical model to evaluate individual performance of offensive lineman and apply it toward selection of all-conference performers
10.) root for the volleyball and women's soccer teams
11.) most importantly...win your last game so that you can start a streak for next year!

ok, that last part is more self-serving than anything else (i want mc to be co-champions) because i don't think momentum can carry over from november to september, but i hope this guide is helpful...obviously it's a bit tongue-in-cheek, because truly, i love the way cnu fans in-fight and point fingers when they lose (same thing happened a few years ago when cnu basketball got average) - i wish i was doing what the ferrum fans are...talking about a potential first-round match-up...being in the in-between (happy about the season and a possible championship, but disappointed that saturday is the last game) is not that fun

narch

ok...this will sound a little like i'm hating on the captains, but it's not meant that way - the cover of cnu's media guide says "drive for five" (meaning the drive for 5 consecutive usasac co-championships and ncaa tournament bids)...who would have ever thought that the "drive for five" would refer to number of wins?

man, i've only been rooting for cnu for a couple of weeks and already i'm sounding like a bitter cnu fan...how could they lose to averett and let my monarchs down :) - oh well, one more week of rooting for the team in blue, then things go back to normal

Thanks for the advice Narch!! That was some funny stuff.

Let's see....hmmm....here was my football weekend

CNU loses

my other school loses...W&M...at the last second to JMU...on a FG by a guy who missed 2 others and was a punter....that FG made to win the game, was his first ever in his LIFE that he made!!!!

The Vikings win...but are still 3-5.

I'm going to 3dhoops.com and hope for a 50 pt blowout of Maryland Bible or Maine-Presque Isle

'85 - glad you saw the humor in that post...some people don't know how to read into those things and get their panties wadded up so tight....i added a few more that i thought of (8-10)

i hope that my teams (mc and cnu...for one more week) don't have the same letdown that i had when i saw the au/cnu score - both have a lot left to play for - the captains don't want to have their FIRST EVER non-winning season...maybe the "drive for five" refers to winning seasons?? - the monarchs want to send the seniors out in style, beat a team that they've never beat AND keep the slimmest glimmer of hope for another game alive - both teams need to come to play on saturday!

go captains!
GO MONARCHS!!!!

Has anyone started an investigation into what has happened to llamaguy? The current poster (an imposter, maybe?), actually makes  sense, has good points, and sounds intelligent! I like the original llamaguy who talked about orgelling!!

85,
I resemble that comment. :-[

Oe Oe Eoooooooo !

BC's better, but we still won't play CNWho. ::) Now pass the Percocet. ;)

here is my first team all-conference (offensive skill positions)

qb - roncketti, mc - do it all sr has tough competition from pitts, but ultimately he has more total td's and averages over 60 ypg more in total offense

rb (2) - wilson, au and mulford, fc - i wanted to put hill in here as he is second in total yardage and yards/game, but mulford led the best rushing offense in the conference (and one of the best in the country), scored more td's and had a higher ypc average...plus he played every game and hill missed the biggest game of the season - this position could change with results from this weekend

fb - hawkins, fc - i am assuming he played fb for the blackhats, 'cause i remember hamoy and mulford as outside guys - if he isn't the fb, whoever plays that position for fc gets this award - having him as a threat in the triple option is key to their success - i like the fb from cnu, too, but he doesn't carry the ball enough

wr (2) - hughley, au and jackson, m'ville - lowe from gc almost made it, but jackson and hughley are 1/2 in yards and td's and average over 5 ypc more than lowe - this position could change with results from this weekend

te - silk, fc - he can stretch the field or work as another o-lineman - great hands - 6 of 9 catches are td's and he is averaging 27.3 ypc...wow

any thoughts??
