It's a shame we couldn't get a non conference game in for BSC and HC.  Looking forward to the next edition this fall!!!

I hear you. I have wondered a couple of things about next fall's schedule. I wonder whether the HC-BSC game will be in Montgomery this fall since it was our turn to host or if it will be skipped and keep the rotation back to Birmingham. The past fall would have also been the fourth year of the 4 year contract with Guilford and the second half of the home-and-home with UW-Oshkosh. Southern Virginia is supposed to be joining the USAC next year giving us 8 conference games so I'm sure at least one of those others won't happen this fall, if either.

We have one of our football only members leaving the conference after this spring, don't remember which one, they are in TX.  So I think we are picking up an extra OOC game next fall.  You would think to keep schedules right, 5 home 5 away, we would have to rotate back to the HC-BSC game being back at BSC next fall because of contract and schedules with all other teams.  That is unless everyone just pushes every schedule back one year.

Who knows what they are going to do, we'll just have to sit and wait it out.

SVU is leaving the ODAC? They just got there...

Only for football and they were looking for a permanent home. The ODAC wasn't real interested in hosting them. It was convenient for football, that's all.

Austin College is the one leaving your conference.  They are joining the ASC and will replace Louisiana College who is going NAIA.

LaGrange decides not to play football this spring.  :(

The adjusted schedule minus LaGrange was just published. We'll get a double round-robin between Brevard, Huntingdon, and Maryville which takes 6 weeks to do instead of four so that pushes the conference championship to April 3.

I wonder if the conference thought about what might happen if things wind up in a tie?  They could have 2 teams finish 3-1 or every team finish 2-2.  It could work out easy if it is two 3-1 teams and one holds a perfect record against the other team but if they each lost to each other then what?  I am assuming then it is scoring margin or maybe home and away records?  If it's a three way tie maybe it will be like Friday Night Lights and the head coached can meet at a diner and flip a coin.  This might be like the old BCS where if you have the opportunity to run the score up it might be something the coaching staff has to think about.  The added positive that I see with this schedule is no one has back to back road games

I guess the next question is whether these games will be on campus? I remember in the fall they had mentioned trying to do neutral sites to avoid over-night trips.
Then, of course, there's the attendance policies and who gets to attend?

What kind of salary do D3 HC's make???  I'm guessing somewhere between $75-$120k.

Pat Coleman

I suspect that far and away the vast majority are in that range but depending on location there may be some lower. Also some head coaches, believe it or not, are still not full-time.

My father-in-law was a JUCO assistant coach, for multiple schools.  He volunteered for most of his time but before he retired from that, I think he was up to $3000 a year for his time.  It was a part time gig for him, but it did take up quite I bit of his time with recruiting, coaching(fall and spring season), road trips for away games.  It was just him and the head coach, who was a full time school employee and he taught a class.

According to https://openpayrolls.com/employee/john-h-pearce-4162 the head football coach of Sul Ross State, the only public football-playing D3 in Texas, made $30K in 2019 (after making $50K in 2018).   Sounds like he's part-time.

Just noticed that Huntingdon has updated the roster. 131 total with 64 freshmen. I only count 9 seniors with some key names missing. I wonder how many are taking a gap year/semester.
Sure wishing I was getting ready to drive up to Greensboro next week.

Updated roster for the spring season has 109 total with 52 freshmen and 5 seniors so we've had a good bit of atrophy from fall to spring.
17 days to game 1.

Go Hawks!
