Hawks,

The only tough thing I see remaining is the two long bus rides to NC this coming week and in three weeks.  I hope for good health the last 4 games and a favorable matchup in the playoffs (hopefully one at home).  The Hawks are up to 21st in the D3 pole and regional rankings are 2 weeks away.  I see Cotney as the OPOTY, Peppers as DPOTY, Turk as Coach of the year.  I have not looked far enough into ROTY on O or D and the STPOTY but if they are on Huntingdon's squad I wouldn't be shocked.  Things are looking good in that part of Alabama this week.  I will be happy for the Monarchs if they somehow are able to pull the upset this Saturday for homecoming but I would settle for a close game in the 4th.

Observation: Huntingdon has a good k
FGK who will win a game this season.

Hawks hold on to win 38-35 at Methodist. That was way too close for comfort. Methodist did a very good job stifling our running game. Hawks had too many penalties and gave up too many big plays and are lucky to be headed home with a win.

Still lots of work to do. Go Hawks!

This past weekend was what I thought the Monarchs could have been all season. They had a lead most of the first half against Huntington and had the ball with a chance to drive down and score the go ahead TD or kick a FG and tie it. On 4th and 5 the Monarchs got 4 1/2 yards. I don't believe in moral victories but to stand toe to toe with the Hawks isn't too shabby. The biggest surprise was the fact that Methodist control the Hawks running attack. I expected McRenyolds to have 200 yards all by himself. 47 carries for 127 (2.7 ypc) is as good a showing as Methodist has had against Huntington ever I believe.

Moving forward I hope Huntington can grow from this and represent the conference well in the playoffs for as many rounds as possible. For the Monarchs there are 2 games left. A .500 finish was not what I believe was expected but as always I think there is reason for optimism. The QB has one more season. He just broke the program's all time completions mark. He may have a few more records to catch by the end of this season. SR WR Praylow is about 20 yards short of the program's season record for yards and already has the season record for receptions. He should set the conference mark for receptions and has an outside shot at the yardage mark.

Huntingdon gets a 42-0 homecoming win over Greensboro. The first quarter and a half was exactly what I wanted to see today as the Hawks scored TD's on our first five possessions before the offense pretty much shifted into neutral until a late TD drive by the backups. Great effort by the defense to get the shutout with GC only really threatening a couple of times. Overall a good job a taking care of business.

Long trip to NC Wesleyan up next. Hoping for another solid outing with a good outcome.

Go Hawks!

Just win Hawks. Who knows what bracket the NCAA will put you in, maybe we'll meet again.

2 weeks left and here are my best guesses for end of year awards:

OPOTY Huntingdon QB Cotney 265 passing yards per game, 19 passing TDs, 170 rushing, and 5 passing TDs
Dark horse Methodist WR Praylow.  He currently leads the nation in receiving yards as well as receptions

DPOTY Huntingdon LB Peppers 9 tackles per game, 5.5 sacks, 14 TFL, and one FF (it also looks like he missed one game)
I don't see a dark horse here

OPOTY Maryville QB Rollins 242 passing yards per game, 21 passing TDs, 258 rushing yards, 6 rushing TDs
I don't see a dark horse here

DPOTY SOVA DL Tuinakauvadra 6 tackles per game, 5.5 sacks, 13.5 TFL, 2 FF, and one INT
I don't see a dark horse here

STPOTY  doesn't have a clear cut candidate.  Praylow from Methodist was the returning winner which may carry some weight.  I know that teams try and kick away from him which probably means a lot but his stats are average at best.  Huntingdon WR England is quite a talented punt returner.  I didn't see a great candidate from the kickers.  Huntingdon P Johnson has a bunch of fair catches and punts downed inside the 20.

COTY Turk from Huntingdon but I could see "voter fatigue" play a factor and McCorkle from Belhaven might receive some votes.

Unfortunately, Peppers tore an ACL during the Methodist game.

Wild Horse Rider

That stinks.  I wonder if he will use his COVID year and come back?  If he has the surgery now and rehab goes well he would be back before the start of the season.  In either case I hope the best for him

Hawks off to another slow start on the road. 7-7 late 1st.

Should've driven to NC. This video feed is horrid.

Hawks88

Hawks lead 14-7 at the half. Hopefully we get moving in the 2nd half.

Hawks88

Hawks with a FG and TD to start the 2nd. 24-7

Hawks88

A TD followed by a pick 6 and HC is pulling away, 38-7.

go Hawks, not counting chickens till all the eggs are hatched, but where will be the LaGrange game ? at home. I think we drove to LaGrange last year... not engaging in any for of 'besmirching' of course :)
keep the faith  ;D
