CNU's 2006 schedule is up ... non-conference opponents are Rowan (A), Mary Hardin-Baylor (H), and Salisbury (A).

the monarch's schedule is up, as well...not nearly as ambitious as the cnu schedule, but i'm excited about 6 home games since there were only 4 last year - i think mc "owed" chowan another game and this will probably be the last time mc plays them...they should improve with another class of scholarship players, and will be a good test for the monarchs - i think guilford and ehc are great games...regional opponents who should be improved, but still winnable games - i'd like to see the coaching staff replace chowan by getting a team like b'water or salisbury on the schedule...i'd like to see first-hand how the monarchs match up against b'water, in particular

Guilford hasn't posted their 2006 schedule yet, but I figured it out because all ten opponents already have.  It's the same as last year - six ODAC and four USASAC (FC, MC, AU & Greensboro) - except we only have four home games this year versus six in 2005.  I'm not sure why GC waits so long to publish the schedule, but they do it every year - it seems silly to me.  Anyway, I may drive to Fayetteville on Sept. 9 - I'm anxious to see if the Quakers can continue last season's aerial attack AND improve some on Defense.  It's also interesting to note that it will be GC's 2nd game and MC's 1st, which has some pros & cons.  Barring injuries, it may give GC a little early season edge, but it also gives MC a chance to send some scouts to the Sept. 2 Ferrum game at Guilford.

about the scholarship players at chowan.  several IAA transfers from gardner webb and WCU.  also some DII, juco, and some CNU boys signed schollys as well.

chowan also benefits greatly from being able throw academic money around as well.  up to 8 G's just for having a 2.0 GPA.  they are putting alot of packages together.  there were some very impressive skill players when i went to the spring game.

Hey Sailor,

who are the CNU players that signed "scholly's"? Where? I had heard a rumor about one in particular possibly headed to UVA, but not sure about the reliability of the source. Could have been a bunch of BS.

#'s 61, 92, 93 all dtackles are transfering.  61 and 92 to chowan.  they can sign scholarships bc it is d2 and provisional.  93 is probably gonna wind up with a roster spot at uconn or maryland.  the Uva kid( the one that i know of) will just walk on bc he is terrible and never played here. lol.  dont know what he is thinking.  another one of the starting de's is probably gonna transfer too.  a safety transfered not sure where.  a linebacker that was slotted to start this year is transfering and has been released.  a running back from a year ago is going to chowan.  92 is already at chowan with money.  61 is goinng to chowan with money. the running back is going to chowan with money.  the de probably will too if he actually decides to leave along with that linebacker.  he is talking to chowan about money too.  do u see a common theme here lol???  money talks.  also several other players that would play this coming year have quit.  not looking good.

Why would you transfer to chowan because of money?
Doesnt the state school provide you with an education for about 3-4 thousand a year?  Plus, nothing against chowan but I would imagine cnu's proffesors are little bit better than what rural murfeesboro has to offer.

And if you transfer up then you have to sit out a year (or is that not the case because chowan is provisinal?)

At 4-6 in 2005, I don't think I would classify MHC as an offensive power, but they are in a strong DII conference (SAC).  They beat then DII #5 Carson-Newman (TN) last year, played Western Carolina and won about three conference games.  They will probably be bigger, stronger and deeper than the Pride.  Barring a lot of turnovers or injuries, expect to get thumped.

drunken sailor

mosh i wouldnt have to sit out at DII anywhere not bc chowan is provisional.  cnu comes out to a little over 14 g's a year.  most expensive public school in the state and it only goes up each year.  i dont care if the profs arent as good in the murf bc they have my major and im paying less than half of what i would.  but d3 to d2 is the only jump one can make w/o sitting and still recieving football money or else thats what has been explained to me.

mosh ... u really thought u could go to any state school in va for a couple grand a year.  or were u being sarcastic.  i wish it was like that lol

I really thought that was how it was.
Im guessing that is how much the total tuition is.  If you qualified for fafsa like I did you would prob be paying about 3-4 a year.

Goodluck at Chowan, your out in the sticks like me. (im in rocky mount)  Cant say I like the country that much anymore, but the football is good so what are you going to do...
