Hey, Gullett!

Any chance of getting more detail on what Coach Mitchell said at the luncheon for those of us that could not attend?  I didn't see anything about it in the News-Record online.

Any info helps me survive until Sept. 2  .  .  .  .  .

ROLL PRIDE ! !

There is some stuff that was released today in you email account at the college.

GCG - What email account? I'll private message you with my email address if that would help. Would love to see any stuff being sent out!! But unfortunately, I no longer have a college email account anywhere - actually, I'm so old that I never did - nobody had email way back then (or even computers).  :(   But we did have phones  :) - but they were all attached to something!

I saw the article online in the News-Record today.  There were some inaccuracies, but that happens. Just gotta wait seven six five more days until Mars Hill . . . . .

Safe travels to those from CNU visiting South Jersey for the game at Rowan this week. Any thoughts on the game this week or predictions for the score?

The game I doubt will not be televised on TV but you can listen to it via Averett's website on the web. But I cant imagine Mount not sending a radio crew to the game.

Hi guys. As my name implies im a Mount Union fan and I was wondering if the Averett/Mount Union game will be televised locally in your area? The Raiders are tape delayed locally a couple of games a year. Would anyone be willing to tape the game for me? Also someone remarked that Mount Unions defense is not expected to be as dominant as last years.  I thought so too....until this last full contact scrimmage on Saturday.  Look for a quick and hungry bunch of defenders. I hope you guys enjoy the game...I wish i was gonna be there!

Do they have TV stations near Averett? You can tell big time d3 football programs when their fans want to know about the game being televised. If  you find a TV station near AU you might catch a mention of the score during the 11 o'clock news - right after the high school football scores and 15 minutes of weather.

I was planning on heading up there. Waiting to see if Ernesto brings rain to the East Coast this weekend. If it rains and the field isn't in good shape, CNU keeps it close to the end. If it's a nice day, Air Orihel (did I spell it correctly?) lights up CNU. Either way CNU will take an early lead. We'll see what happens after that.

Believe it or not, a lot of the news/weather/sports in that part of Virginia actually comes out of North Carolina.  The closest station is WFMY-Channel 2 in Greensboro, but you'll probably only get a score.  (Trust me, all the North Carolina stations don't do much for DIII, but you can get your fill of ACC!)  Here's Averett's webcast link, which is probably your best (and maybe only) choice!:

Thanks for the links Averett fans. I know it was a long shot of getting a tv tape but at least I tried. I guess it just goes to show how football crazy we are up here in Stark County, Ohio. Heck, even the highschools are replayed on tv here. They replay a game of the week for the best local matchup. Football is big business up here. A couple of the highschools have around 20,000 seats and if the game is a meaningful one it will be close to sold out, if not totally sold out. You guys keep growing your program and tv will notice eventually. Good Luck!

Come on up!  Weather is supposed to be a high of 80 with mostly sunshine.  Possible shower in the evening.  However, with Ernesto lurking in the weeds, that could change ... but at this point, things look good.

Field condition really shouldn't have any effect.  Rain may make field a little slick but RU installed New-style Turf about 3 years ago and the field drains very well.

Air Orihel (yes, you spelled it correctly) looked sharp in both scrimmages and the running game looked good as well.  CNU always plays RU tough and should be a good test for the Profs.  We're looking forward to your visit.

Drive safely!

Section13raiderfan,

I grew up watching All-American Conference High School football and have been to games at Massillon and at Fawcett Stadium to see Canton McKinley play. So I know how Stark County fans love their football.

Ohio has a big influence on the Averett football staff.  Averett is just a pup in Division III but they have come a long way. I have to watch over the webcasts.

They tell me Mt. Union might even see the wishbone from Averett this week. I expect the kitchen sink too.

Mt. Union used to have a bunch of old timers helping coach there, I wondered if that was still true?  Who does Mt. Union play next -- maybe they will look ahead!!

Mars Hill College website 'notes' on the game this weekend against Greensboro College.  We may find out in this game if GC is for real this year. MHC is a DII school that has their QB and a bunch of others back from last year and look to be pretty good.

Lets hope the SU athletic staff checked all the players grades and what not so they wont have to forefeit the game again if the Hornets win.

Mt. Union has a nice mix of older and younger coaches now.  Coach Kehres actually handed off the offensive play calling to some younger coaches (Campbell and Bruney) last year for the first time in his career.

Mt. Union has an off week 9/9/06 and then Otterbein on 9/16/06 so not much chance of them looking ahead.  ;)

Besides, one of their trademarks over the years is to take it one week at a time (sorry for the cliche).
