I already said I don't want it.

Don't need it.

WE ALL KNOW WHO THE BEST OVERALL ATHLETICS PROGRAM IN THIS CONFERENCE IS.

eh-you-
flat out if CNU wins every conference game except one (depending on the one), and finishes 2nd.  They will get a bid IMO.  Hope for that.  That way we have two teams playing come post season.  (I believe WCLegacy posted something about this earlier)

BBallGuy, Here's the post from me that you're referring to:

But here's the new aspect to my thinking and rooting for Averett to win the conference. Assuming CNU wins the rest of its games except the one against Averett, I think that pretty much guarantees Chrisopher Newport and the USA South a Pool C bid to the playoffs. ... Two playoff teams this year would be a pretty sweet deal for us -- and should give our conference profile a much needed boost.

I'm still very much in favor of this scenario, but going to Pomoco and winning is no easy task. Actually, based on a quick look of the Captains' history, it doesn't look like any USAC team has beaten CNU at home since 2001. That's an impressive streak.

If Averett wins every game except the CNU matchup, I don't think AU will get a Pool C bid. Yes, they had an extremely tough sked, but they didn't play MUC or Wesley close enough to earn a lot of favor in the eyes of NCAA. That's the truth of the matter.

Averett is still my favorite to win the conference, but at worst they'll finish second. Ferrum will be the only speed bump before traveling to Newport News. And, I don't think Gboro will come within 21 points of AU, though everyone out there (read: GC fans) is entitled to their opinions otherwise. Someone said the Pride wasn't as good last year as they are this year. Well, that is easily said of Averett, too. There's a lot more going on there than there was in '05.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

CNU a public university- just a little bit more money to throw around then the rest of the conference.

CNU may be the best all-around in the conference in terms of all the sports, then why doesn't CNU just leave. Find a different bunch of schools to play around with  :D.  I will use this analogy comparing these schools to high schools. CNU is a 5A school having fun with 2A and 1A schools, no wonder they are the best in the conference.  ;) :D ;D.

CNULifer

Funny, I don't see any scholarship atheletes out there.  What do you mean by money?  Is that a green monster on this forum?

CNULifer

In all honesty I believe CNU probably should move up a notch.  The high school talent in our area is just awesome.  It would be nice to offer scholarships and keep more of them around.

PrideSportBBallGuy

I would trade Freeman Center over Hanes Gym any day.

There is where the money is.

CNULifer

Ever seen Hoosiers?  Hoop is still 10 ft.

CNULifer

BBallGuy,

When I was in Highschool CNU was CNC.  When I got to CNU the Gym was no better than a local Middle School Gym.  The science building was set up like an old hotel.  the corridors were on the outside of the building.  If you were early to class when it rained you stood outside up against the wall so you would not get wet.  No Dorms.  No Football.  Chem labs were out in a trailer.

Former Virginia Senator by the name of Trible came in as the new President.  He set to work raising funds for the school.
Now CNU has the best facilities over all in DIII that I have seen personally.  There may be better ones out there somewhere, I just have not seen them.

Maybe instead of crying about no money, your school should go hire a leader like Trible to raise the money or the support that you lack.

PrideSportBBallGuy

10 feet is still 10 feet..but getting splinters when one sits down isn't exactly exciting.

Now a little bit of history about GC.  Thanks to the current president.  We are no longer a finianical nightmare.  Greensboro had more buildings at one time, but past presidents poor descisions, caused us to lose most of them.  (Not to mention our main building as burnt down 3 times.) There is talk and a plan up in the main building (let's hope main doesn't burn down :D) That is an outdoor sports park that will be the envy of the conference in the future.

Get rid of the candles and tell the current pres to spring for electricity.

CNULifer

Happy to hear about the progress though. :)

crazylegs_33

money or no money, CNU has been dominant in the conference in most all sports. They were dominant before the money and dominant now. IMO they will continue to be dominant. The more success we have, the more the kids want to come.

But every winning tradition has to start somewhere. So there IS hope for the rest of the conference.

PrideSportBBallGuy

Crazylegs-
Yeah move up to D2 and you will have more of a reason to have kids come there. IMO
