maybe ssu's experience playing at mc during a hurricane last season will prepare them for possible inclement weather this weekend :)

almost ANY option team is going to put the ball on the ground a few times a game...it's the nature of the beast - the key is first down...if you can get ssu off schedule and into 3rd and longer than 6, you've got a shot - although the ssu passing game is improved, i'll take my chances with d. johnson's arm 8 days a week over his legs...oh yeah, you better hope he doesn't break contain when he does decide to drop back and throw the ball, or you might be looking at 6 - the mc coaches that i talked to said he has really improved his decision making skills on the option, as well, although he still likes to keep the ball more than he probably should - when he does pitch, he's got some guys with jets on the wing - and don't forget a PUNISHING fb that you have to honor on every play, because he's got enough speed/power to break a big play, as well - this should be a great game, but i think ssu wins this in a psuedo shoot-out 37-36 (no fg's for cnu...5 td's, 2 missed xp's and three 2 pt conversions)

Well if they can continue to win with 2-4 fumbles lost per game, then more power to them. I am not an expert on CNU's offense, but with that many turnovers a good offensive opponent will never allow them to catch-up in a shoot-out. This should be a good battle to watch.

As for the Bus ride, I guess I see your point; however, a short walk across campus resulted in 7 turnovers against CNU last year. ::)

What's the issue with Salisbury?  Seven turnovers in last years game is history.  Hopefully they learned the lesson and won't have a repeat this year.  I guess we will all see come Saturday if the Sea Gulls learned from last year.

Narch, you made a good point, regarding DJ's passing ability, it has improved alot and with some experienced WR's, Salisbury is not as reliant on the option.  Finally, Satchell may have a huge game if everyone is keying on DJ.  Like I said, we'll all see on Saturday.

fivemics, i have always thought that would be a illegal pass. could be wrong, but thats what i have thought also.

I have seen balls hit linemen in the back and then hit the ground and an illegal forward pass has been called for throwing to an ineligible receiver.  I have also seen where it has not been called as a penalty.  I have never seen it off a lineman that was on the ground though, wish I had seen that.

Was the ball tipped by a defender before it hit the lineman?

I was just reading and trying to decipher the NCAA football rules and I believe that if the ball hits a players helmet and rebounds into the air it is a live ball.  It is not a dead ball until it hits the ground.

It is probably a judgement call for the official whether it was intentional or not.

I saw those SU pics...I see yall got some new uni's...Reminds me of Ole Miss.  I think they look sharp minus the hu----munguuuuus SU on the helmet...

Uncle Jessie

I agree with you on that mosh. they look 100% better than the all blue ones from the past. i also think they should get rid of the"SU" and get maybe the hornet logo they also use. Not sure if they will get new road uni's or not. For the CUA game they had the old all white ones. Thay should get some red ones for the road.

I stand corrected.  I ment offensive rookie - congrats also to Mike Hill on his career high.

Weather should not be a major factor at Pomoco on Saturday - storm will be long gone.  Forcast is for low 80s and chance of showers.  Unless we get a lot more rain than the inch or two currently predicted, the new turf should be in good shape.

Then again, perhaps they will water the field to slow the Gulls rushing attack...............   ;D

Uncle Jessie and knightstalker, thanks for the response.  I just thought with the lineman down the ball should be dead.  No it wasn't touched by anyone until it hit the lineman in the heard.  The pass was going straight to the ground until it hit the lineman. It was something I've never seen before. It was a terrible pass actually that turned out to be about a 25 yard gain.

More like a seven yard gain Mr. Spindoctor.  Now can you SU guys find anything else to cry about?  Give me a freakin' break.  The score was already 42-20 and we had our 2nd and 3rd teamers in (not that having them in the game prevented us from scoring another TD against your 1's).  For what it's worth, it looked to me like the ball hit an official first but I'm not totally sure.

Llamaguy

Jeff Highfill (our #2 QB) was trying not to throw the pass. He started the throwing motion tryed to stop and was committed too far and the ball was released anyway toward the ground and the lineman. So thats why it looked so terrible. As for the completion, it was devine intervention I guess. Highfill has still never thrown an incompletion in a varsity game. ;D 7-7 with two passing TD's for his career.

There is a 6'5" 275 lb TE here at this high school I work with in Colorado. 4.8.9 40, military brat. A little tight thru the hips but has good feet. If he was a mean SOB he would be DII. I do think with the special motivation of MC's D-Line coach( Stacey, he's a little twisted) he may be something for the dreaded Monarchs. Can you tell me the recruiting coordinators name? By the way that spandex outfit you had on last week was a head turner.  :)

To MIZ, it was nothing more than a question. It was never written or intended to be a complaint about the score.  Grow up and learn how to read.

Dude-

It was more the "they gained about 25 yards off it" gross exaggaration than the initial question that prompted my response (on top of all of Uncle Jessie's whining all week about the last play).

PS:  I read good.   8)

Poetic license. It wasn't about the yardage it was about the rule.

You guys are the most stubborn group of crybaby fans from any school I've ever seen posting on this site.  It's like a bunch of little league moms.

I'll give you one thing, you support your team.  It just doesn't always make sense.

Now I'm taking my own advise and going back to the ODAC board before I pull all my hair out.
