isn't that the way it always is...the dumpee usually feels much worse than the dumper, no?

as an outsider, i can see both sides of the bc/cnu issue - in some ways, i applaud coach clark for looking "big picture" and for his candor and honesty - at the same time, it seems a little unlike a football coach to openly and admittedly dodge a tough game that might make winning a key conference game more difficult...you can't argue with the results, but it just doesn't seem congruent with the football mentality

i also applaud coach kelchner for taking on any and all comers - while this philosophy has not yet produced glorious ncaa results that back this strategy, i disagree with the bc contingent on one point they seem to be implying...i don't think it's HURT them one bit

i think that folks around the country respect the cnu program because they know they'll play anyone, anytime...bc has respect nationally because of what they've done in the playoffs the last 5-7 years, or so - either way, you're talking about 2 great programs, with great coaching staffs that simply have a different strategy - for me personally, give me the coach that takes on anyone and let's the chips fall where they may

CNU85

Llama,

Actually CNU not making the playoffs ONCE was due to conference losses, not the tough non conference schedule. And Rugbyguy is faster than you!  :o

Kid - man, we used to get along, then you become part of the d3football.com staff and well........you can fill in the blanks!  :D

I know the GC folks have left already.....hopefully when you read this you're in a warm, dry hotel room. That trip is gonna suck. I hate driving home in it from Norfolk.

PrideSportBBallGuy

Well CNU fans, Newport News is a little greener now, that I a Pride fan is here.  I got in a little accident, nothing too bad.  No damage done.  My brother was driving, he is alright.  (Just a little hit on the back)

Time for Fazzolis.

Question then, Had there not been a fumble at the goalline Week 2 would you still be saying it hasn't hurt them? They would have 2 losses and no doubt that the only way into the playoffs is to win the NEW balanced USAC.

Of course you would say that Narch. When was the last time Methodist was in a playoff football game? Once you get a taste you want more. And don't say that its a cheap way to get into the playoffs b'cus actually its the SMART way. BC can compete with any of the South region team anytime, they just choose to do it when the chips are down in the playoffs.

A good analogy would be you playing the toughest schedule in the nation for Methodist baseball. You can't tell me you wouldn't miss the playoff atmosphere just a little. Agree?

Oh, and I don't think I can be considered a staff member.  I just help out whenever they need me.

The Rowan loss is not an in-region loss and so is not one of the primary criteria.

The Rowan game is one of those that lets a team play a D3 opponent with major consequences to its Pool C hopes.

If a football power has trouble finding oppnents, then it should schedule a "non-region" D3 opponent for the sake of the competition, and for the high profile game that it provides!

Currently CNU is 3-0 in South Region play and has 6 South Region games remaining.

Good point Ralph! I should have elaborated further in that the scheduling goal is to also go 10-0 so "said" playoff team can avoid going to play in TX! :o Now if HSU takes care of business this weekend a 10-0 BC with a weak QOWI still won't avoid that trip. :-\ You can bet that if we do make the playoffs this year and go to TX I will be there to meet you in person though. ;)

Boy you guys at BC would AVOID playing all the tough games if you could.  I tell you what, if you don't want to go to texas, let CNU go for you.  You guys are like a bunch of girls.

No wonder you keep talking about panties.

CNULifer

Kelchner needs to just schedule the top 3 teams every year.  It would gaurantee that we play the best year in and year out win or lose.  That would be fun and that is what playing something is all about.

All this talk of BC being smart by ducking good opponents is just obsurd.  Yes they have won more playoff games than CNU but according to LLama the national title is the point.

How many of those do you have listed at the bottom of your brag line.

One of you guys with the stats should figure out how CNU has done against the top 25 teams compared to BC over the past 6 years, I think it would be interesting.  I do know one thing for sure.  BC has just as many playoff losses if not more.
How many top 25 teams has each played, who won etc...

This year we have played 2 top tens (at the time) and are 1 and 1. not too bad.  who has BC played?

Pat Coleman

Bridgewater has gotten a lot closer than CNU has, fwiw.
