MCol51

so here are my picks for first team all-conference besides the O-Line. You have to watch the oline to know who is good, and obviously you cant be at every game. So ill let the coaches handle that.

First Team All-conference

RB- Roland Hilliard
      Teron Bush

FB- Jeremy Robertson- This is a hard pick to find, but this guy obviously should win, 21 att. for 102 yds. 2 TD and no loss on the season rushing.

WR- Hughley
                  Doleman

TE- Chris silk

Second Team

RB- Kyle Wilson
      Mike Hill

FB- Rob Herbin

QB- Justin Price

WR- Shel Leverette
       Chuck Howard

TE- Andrew Gurley

Defensive all conference coming soon.

MCol51

NArch,

Don't forget Jones' passing stats!

they're about the same as lowe's passing stats (except lowe has 2 fewer int's :)

i'm changing my vote for 1st team util when viewing stats for the only games that really matter...conference games

jones - 27 att, 325 rushing yds (12 ypc), 5 td - 16 rec, 273 rec yds (17 ypr), 2 td's
lowe - 48 att, 187 rushing yds (3.9 ypc), 0 td - 34 rec, 339 rec yds (10 ypr), 2 td's

the stats clearly show that jones is a superior talent and a much more explosive athlete than lowe - they also show that the cnu coaching staff knew how to use jones very effectively

finest - maybe i was a little harsh in my earlier analysis of jones, but i'm basing this mostly on seeing him play (mostly ineffectively) as a soph and junior against mu...i also think he's a victim of my high expectations...he was SO GOOD as a freshman (especially against the monarchs), that i expected him to dominate and anticipated he would be a serious contender for opoty as a senior

narch

ok - now that the usasac has updated stats available, here are my FINAL offensive skill position all-conference players

qb - townsend - ncwc - among qb's who threw more than 30 passes in conference games he was #1 in efficiency, #1 in yards, #1 in total offense, #2 in td's and #2 in ints

rb - hilliard - cnu - #1 in yards, yards/game, td's in overall and conference only stats
rb - bush - ncwc - conference only ranks # 2 in yardage stats, 6 tds and 8.9 ypc average

however...mike hill from mu could sneek in and grab this award because his overall stats are superior to those of bush...conference voters don't pay as much attention to conference only stats as i do, and hill ranks ahead of bush in all cats except ypc in overall stats

wr - hughley - i've covered why i think it's him for 1st team
wr - mish - i voted for doleman earlier, but after absorbing the stats, mish has better numbers for a more prolific offense that spreads the ball more

the #2 wr spot should be hotly contested with doleman, leverette, lowe and webb all vying with mish for that spot

te - silk...no other option here - the kid is a beast at te...crushing blocker, great receiver

util - jones - cnu - covered

opoty - hughley - au - simply the best offensive player on one of the best offensive teams in the conference

i'll also cover specials here -
kr - sands - mu - 27.6 ypr
pr - locke - m'ville - 12.9 ypr, 1 td
k - larkin - mu - best fg % (11-16 overall, 9-10 from inside 40), most touchbacks, best ko coverage in league
p - dooley - su - only kicker to average over 40 ypk - led league in kicks inside 20

my defensive picks will come on wednesday

SU and Methodist Pictures are now posted.  This of course is the last for this year.  Record aside SU has some talent and the upcoming season will have a much better showing.  A lot of younger players got experience this year.  No predictions of grandeur just a better showing next year.  http://www.fivemics.net/Shenandoah-2006.html

Thanks narch, but please remember "Corrections are always appreciated!" ;)

Seriously, we have some really great fans here in the South Region.

There are lots of posters who put up good facts, timely hyperlinks and fun stuff to read!

Have a good off-season, and see you on the Hoops board this winter and baseball in the spring!

Narch,

Do you remember when you were five?  I feel like the fat kid staring at the ground after the last round of picks for dodgeball!
