Papi
Admittedly the board has been a little dry............ as usual with this time of year.

I am at NAS Brunswick this week. The Navy is......different
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

papi - a little work, a little play...the baseball board kept me pretty busy, too

pridesportguy - not sure what you mean by "golf score", but i'm certain there are MANY at mu much more qualified "then" me to help you with your golf game

i actually like the premise of each of your last 2 "formulas", but i'm not sure why you need to re-invent the wheel with the last one - qowi is similar (but more effective) and widely recognized as a solid measure...come up with something that uses opponents-opponents and i'll be impressed

secondly, this is how the conference will finish out this season:
cnu (first outright champion)
ncwc
mu, m'ville, averett (tie)
gboro, ferrum (tie)

Not so sure if CNU is such a slam dunk this year Narch, they lose 24 TD's from 2006 with Hilliard and Jones graduating - and as long as NCWC is returning Townsen, Bush and Haywood, I am thinking they might be the team to beat.  Cedric Townsen was by far the best talent I saw on the field last year.

Narch-

It is very similar to the QOWI(just put it together in 30 mins.)...I am trying to get a hold of the MD high school football formula the one they use tournament seeding.  I just have to email them and get it.

Golf Score=Karma.

I do need some work on my golf game...I'd be willing to pay a 10 year old to help get my golf game going.

AdmiralPapi

Good to see that it isn't all work!  Have you got any trips planned down my way in the near future...the fishing is great right now!!!
Any fool can circumnavigate the world sober...it takes a real sailor to do it drunk!!!

Narch-haha- I am not reinventing the wheel.  I am taking a Goodyear tire and making it a tire you can get at Wal-Mart's tire and lube service.

I can see where you are coming from when you say CNU is losing 24 TD'S from last yr but u have to also think about the TD's that are going to be scored by the guys they have returning. Yes they lose Hilliard a fine RB but they have Taylor, and Baylor two guys with speed and good vision to carry the load. Yes they lose Jones but Jones didnt play in the playoff game against W&J and the other recievers did pretty good themselves. Burke is a jr reciever who has played the last 2 yrs and contributed and now he has to be the man and they also have some really good tranfers and other guys who have talent but were overshadowed last yr by Jones, and speight. So I wouldnt think twice about CNU not being the first outright champion this conference has seen and I just dont see NCW being that good as everyone thinks they will be. They did win games last yr but when you cant beat the apprentice school you havent came up yet.

CNU always seems to put it together.  Too count them out is just plain maddness.

My opinion of how well Maryville can finish this season might be below some expectations.  I am not sure how battle tested they really are.  28-55 was thier opponents combined record last year and they only finished 5-5.  (records of teams only d3.)  GC finished 3-7, but only 2-6 was counted towards that record.

I will add opponents opponent record to my power ranking but I am not sure how big a scale I could do it.  That is alot of teams for one person to take on. 419-450 was AU opponents opponents record.

Pat or Ralph or anyone that might have an excel spreadsheet on every d3football school, it might make trying to take on this task a little easier, I would like a copy of that. (Only if it available.)  If not a spreadsheet a document where I can copy and paste to a spreadsheet.

I made a mistake early left out CNU on calculating opponent wins.  it is 36-57 not 28-55.

Sorry, I don't.  The opponents' opponents' record will be challenging to calculate this year.

I did that once by copying the ranking page of the LAZ index into Excel. :)

Hey good to see ya back Narch. Any word on how Coach Sy is doing. I tried to call down there, but the coaches are busy and hard to catch this time of year. I am actually looking forward to coming down there this year, it sounds like the year could be exciting. Delapp and myself are about to be coaching together hopefully. Im waiting for them to make the call. From what ive heard and seen, almost all of us on the championship team are coaching now that graduated.
I think i will have to disagree about CNU winning it outright this year. I dont know if they have the experience back. They lost alot of defensive performers. Talked to a guy yesterday from Gilman sports and he was at CNU 2 or 3 weeks ago. Kelchner was telling him defense will be the question this year.
Now you know as well as i do that CNU has always had a great defense. But i really think they will be struggling this year, and especially with the new D-C. It should be exciting.

CANT WAIT TILL THE SEASON STARTS.
GO MONARCHS!! 2005 Conference Champs!

can someone who is good with double negatives help me out...should i or shouldn't i think that cnu will win an outright title this year? :)

while i think that ncwc has the returning talent to win the title on paper, they have not had a fantastic record of returning key players in their short history...cnu DOES have a pretty good record of simply reloading with players that step up and fill shoes...hence, my selection of cnu over ncwc (and everyone else)...any prognostication in june must take into account these unknown variables

Technically, since two negatives equal a positive, "So I wouldnt think twice about CNU not being the first outright champion this conference has seen" equals "So I would think twice about CNU being the first outright champion this conference has seen."   Sounds to me as though bomb8 thinks (actually thinks twice) that CNU will be the first outright champ.

Even more rare is the triple negative (He ain't never seen nobody like you!), which equals one negative (He has never seen anyone like you!).

The most rare multi-negative sentence I have personally witnessed is the virtually unintelligible quadruple negative (He ain't never been not right at no time) which equals a positive (He is always right).  lol

However, "No, I wouldn't be not surprised to never not hear a sentence that's not more filled with negatives" such as, come to think of it, this one.  :)     No Peace for you ..... Not!

Power Rankings version1.1

New Version Described:

1 point for home win
2 points for away win

1 point for total wins by d3 opponents (No longer matters what happens at another level. Power Rankings among d3.)

-1 one point for every loss

That will equal total points

SOS Index 50% of Winning percentage
25% for opponents winning percentage
25% for opponents-opponent winning percentage

Total points X SOS Index= Power Ranking

USASouth from last year.
Power Rankings (rounded to the hundreths) (Regular Season)

CNU 37.37
AU 36.05
NCWC 22.68
M'Ville 18.18
MU 17.03
FC 15.54
SU 15.24
GC 13.02

Mount Union was 49.20 last year.

What is everyone's thoughts on this one?

Noted earlier 28-55 was not M'vill opponent record.  It is in fact 36-57.
