That's the AFCA poll you're thinking of. We provide our voters with a great deal of research each and every week. Our voters are reminded each and every week of McDaniel's win at Bridgewater and what the teams' records are today. They also are reminded that McDaniel barely escaped 1-3 Catholic.

Thanks for reading my posts so intently...the BC losing in conference was a hypothetical point.  If they lose to W&L and are still ranked then I will be hot.    The point was that BC gets too much credit for two really good seasons in an ever-weakening ODAC, thus the polls don't truly reward the schools that are winning this season (i.e. Wesley---they would walk the dog on the ODAC).

Making me a 1/2 poster is fair, narch.    I'm a Wabash graduate, but my longtime girlfriend is a Ferrum grad, so I've definitely got a foot in FC's corner.

I'm still learning a lot about the school and the team, so I would balk at calling me a full-time active poster when it comes to the Panthers.

How ya been my friend.  Our pro teams both look like crap don't they?  I hope I can say crap on here.  If not, sorry Pat, but his team is the Vikings and mine the Packers so the description fits both.

Our college teams look ok so far, but your board knocking the ODAC is kinda unfair.  What has any team in the USASAC ever done in the playoffs?  You guys beat us once, I think, but the ODAC is so weak that doesn't count according to your friends here.

Oh well, good luck in your conference.  May BC and CNU meet in the playoffs (I'd like to play at our house this time!).

I posted this on the ODAC thread in response to someone else complaining (jokingly or not) about Bridgewater being ranked higher than Ferrum:

Lets put Ferrum's 5-0 record into perspective (which is what I believe the voters do):

Between 2001 and 2004, Ferrum went 21-17 overall, 14-9 in the USAC.  The two years they were one game from getting to the playoffs ('01 and '02), they lost to CNU in the final game of the season.

Over that same span, Bridgewater went 43-7 overall, 24-0 in the ODAC.  Made the playoffs all four years, and not only got there, but had seven wins over those four postseason appearances.

So you think voters shouldn't go off previous years?  Okay, forget previous years.  Lets talk just 2005.

Ferrum has gone 5-0, with wins over five schools with a combined record of 7-16 (7-11 not counting the Ferrum losses).  The 7 wins Ferrum's opponents have were against schools with a combined record of 4-29 (4-22 not counting the 7 losses).  Now this is where it might get a tad confusing, but bear with me.  Of the four wins that Ferrum's opponents' opponents have, they were against schools with no wins on the season.

So you see, voters don't just look at what record a school has, or even just what schools the wins were against.

It looks like they were at the bottom of a lot of ballots (24th or 25th on about 10 ballots) and might have fallen victim to the need to get North Central and Thiel into consideration after their impressive wins.
