I do agree with alot of what you said with number 1.  However there will be several posters that might have an opinion or two about the caliber of what Greensboro has coming back.

well... CNU85's quote from this past hoops year may apply:

I like your other comments - very insightful. One thing though about SU. You mentioned they are 2-22 the past 2 years in conference play....maybe only losing 1 senior is not a good thing!! ;D

Just trying to save people some time in replying... ;)

nicely said........having 20 of 28 players returning from a 3-7 team might not be good news.

I don't know if this will help my arguement or not, but there are quite a few posters that really feel that NCWC is poised for a title this year.  They too are returning quite a few players. It might be good news or it might be bad news.

1) They play a tougher schedule
2) They play at CNU at AU and at MU (MU will be a better team and I think Narch will agree to that, a game NCWC won only 15-9. A game MU was winning until the 4th quarter. Where a fumble game NCWC a quick score)
3) In the USASouth you can't really base on year off the next. You can be near the top one year and near the bottom the next.

I just added previews for the other fall sports on thier respective boards.

ok...here's my view on things for NCW.

1. They do play a tougher schedule and I think that will help. It has helped CNU build a program.
2. Yes - their conference road schedule is tough. this will be a test for them. They went 5-2 in conference play...let's see how that record holds up when the Away/Home games change this year. I'm glad they are at CNU!!! ;D
3. not sure I agree witht he at the top 1 year and bottom the next. Although it is true for teams like SU, FC, and MU. CNU has always been at or near the top. GC has laways been at or near the bottom. MC and NCW have been middle of the pack, yet improving each year.

The preseason Top 25 is posted.

WOW!  Bridgewater not ranked in the top 25 :o

Congrats to CNU for showing well for the USASAC.

I hate preseason polls. While it's nice to see CNU get the recognition.....I dunno....I would rather be a sleeping underdog......I guess CNU is still the underdog in it's first 2 games....we get a #10 and a #4 to play....yippeeee

Does that mean you think they should not be ranked?  Do I think CNU wil be ranked at the end of the season?  More than likely. Preseason, however I am not exactly sold. I saw that they are lost alot of thier playmakers on offense.

The Bow Ties get a top 30 spot. (Washington and Lee 5)

HSC, BC or GC-Q will beat them.

That's a fact jack

actually, the monarchs have been pretty consistent, as well...here are their conference finishes since '01: 3rd, 5th, 5th, 3rd, T1st, T5th

i expect mu will finish anywhere from 3rd to 5th again this year, although i do think they will be a better team than they were last year...i'm hoping that improvement will show in the standings, but you just never know - this is a team that lost 4 of their 7 games by a total of 17 points...21 more points over the course of the season would have made a 4-6 season an 8-2 season...there is a fine line, folks

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer. With all this pre-season talk it starts to get me excited about football. I believe that the conf. will be as strong as it has ever been, the difference between 1st and 2nd to 7th and 8th does not seem to be as large as it used to be. If history is an indicator of future performance I believe that you have to think that CNU is still the team to beat until anyone can consistently prove otherwise. With that being said there could be any number of teams that seem poised to make a run  for the championship. I also hope that the conf. members can have a great showing in their respective non- conf. games. That will only help gain the conf. some more national respect.

that would be consistent if we were talking about all of d3...but for a conference with 6-8 teams (depending on the year), placing 5th 3 times, 3rd twice and first once...seems inconsistent to me.......I guess it's our interpretation of inconsistent.

no, i would agree that there is some inconsistency when compared to cnu, but i thought you were making a direct comparison between mu and su/fc, who have been all over the place in the standings...with the exception of one great year, the monarchs have been in either 5th or 3rd place every year - su has gone from T1 to last and a couple of spots in between - fc has tied for 1st three times but also finished 6th, 7th and 3rd - those teams, especially ferrum, have yo-yo'ed throughout the standings...the monarchs have been consistently average over that same time period with few peaks and valleys compared to su and fc :)

it's not about the interpretation, it's about who we're comparing them too

CNU85

gotcha.....I was comparing the teams to themselves over the period of '01-'06.......I see your point in saying they are more consistent than other teams.

I just hope he got a mobile RT on the O-line to protect Voggie's blind side. He is a southpaw right?
Actually, Vogelbach throws right.
