provide some insight and a prediction on how you think your team will fare in week 1. For those conference teams whose fans do not post on this board....well....we'll just not care about their games!!

What is your take on the lefthanded QB, or lefthanded athlete?

good for all positions except center (if a qb is the best on the team, who cares if he's a lefty)
good for baseball pitchers/1b/of...bad for anything else
good for basketball players...throws a nice little element of surprise into the mix

Sports we are oppressed. I like the left handed QB wish there was more out there.  If the QB refuses to sign with the Baltimore Colts and then flees to Denver, I don't want that lefthanded QB. 

I knew a kid growing up right handed, but batted left, threw left (I believe also).  Its not uncommon for a righty to bat left because of switch hitting, but he couldn't bat right.  He did everything lefthanded in baseball because his dad was left handed.  I say thank you to him, because he brought somebody to the "darkside"

Younger son does everything left handed but kicked football with right foot.. Only kicker I ever saw who kicked spirals off a tee...Must be that left handed brain working  LOL

Unbelievable, my youngest (the kicker) writes and eats with left hand, kicks with right foot and batted right handed when he used to play baseball. He throws with right hand and will knock the crap out you with his right.

I gave up long time ago trying to figure it all out. As long as they go straight and thru the uprights I don't care if he kicks it with his .........oops better watch it here.

Hey who did you guys replace Averett with this year. I was hoping to make another trip back to Dover and go to Dover Downs. I really enjoyed my trip there (Wesley Fans very nice and friendly. Didn't like the drive down and up on route 13. (never again).

I would like to think that Averett will keep it a little more interesting than last year (64-7) but we will be playing in Alliance, Averett is rebuilding ....... maybe the stars will be lined up in Averett's favor or the entire Mount Union team including JV's will get the turkey squirts before the opening kickoff.

Wesley has only Huntingdon and Morrisville form last years non-conference schedule. Lost Waynesburg to their own conference commitment. BUT the first five games are all tough NC Wesleyan, DelVal, Widener, Montclair st. and Huntingdon

Word is that the 3 LB and one DB that did not return because:

2 transfered to a school that had a major they wanted (imagine that- an athlete looking at the academic side of things - that is why I LOVE D3 sports) - I wish them well in life

1 is sitting out while attending CNU b/c he wants to get his grades up - a nice priority to have

1 is, well....to paraphrase Coach Kelchner - no longer with the team

I don't have names to attach to the various reasons - but there you have it.

I've heard CNU has a new O-lineman that is a beast - not sure if it is the same as the 31 yr old.

I've found quite a bit about the former Bearcat on the internet - a scouting website had him running a 4.4   40 in HS.

That's all I know - and all found off the internet - public knowledge kinda stuff.

The more I read, the less nervous I get about the season. I just hope the guys can pull it all together starting with week 1.

Factoid - CNU is 0-6 in week 1 and 5-1 in week 2

     85...thanks for the feedback. After giving it a little more thought, I guess that is pretty typical and not so unusual. Some leave to be closer to sugar britches, some leave for academic reasons, some are run off by coaches because they need to be.  Probably a few other reasons as well. Guess it just seemed odd that 3 were starting LB's.

hmmmm... 

Positives for Catholic: well... technically, SU is 0-2 vs. Catholic over the past two years.  (illegal player)  It's a road game, SU is picked last in the USASAC,  and CU has an outstanding QB.

Positives for SU:  We have a great punter. 

So this is a tough one for me. But I'm thinking SU has a slight chance, because there's limited film to go on.  If the hornets can sneak this one out, then they have a shot at winning 4 games for the season.  I am going to go crazy here and put down a "W" for the Hornets.  Mainly because this is a rare opportunity that it might be close...   

I will get back to realistic insight the second week...
