and those are exactly 2 things that it is NOT...look at all the detail and thin lines, and that detail is very hard to see at a small size (the way it will be displayed on the web), and don't even THINK about embroidering that thing...no offense, the more i look at it, the more i dislike that logo...and i would say the same if i were a cnu fan...it's just poorly designed

I still like it, I think it is an improvement from what they had before and it makes more sense now too.  There is an actual captain on the the logo.  I bet it is just the the format that it is in that is making it look the way it does, IMO

It looks like a Shoneys add...Or maybe its the Gordan Fishstick man.

Its a stepback in the mascot department.

Whats up everyone. Its been a while since i have been able to post, we have been getting ready for our first game. My first as a varsity coach with a big responsibility.
I think 80 kids is an ok number for a team, its not the best numbers for college football but if they all can play, then hey, it does the job.
CNU's logo is to hard to identify. I looked online at the logo, and i really personally think they could have come up with a different logo. You cant have that much detail as a logo for all of your school.
NARCH whats the word from camp yet, how the boys looking? Hopefully good.
anyways, ill be back on here soon after we beat charlotte catholic tomm night
GO MONARCHS!! 2005 Conference Champs!

CNU85

The logo would have been easier had Christopher Newport been a pirate rather than a good guy captain. If he was a pirate kinda captain the logo could have had him in the forefront with a bloody knife in his mouth, a woman he stole off another ship under his arms and a sailing vessel in the background on fire and sinking with the name of the boat visible..."Private Schools"

oh man...I'm cracking myself up on that one!! ;D ;D ;D

Good for you!  Now that's a nice road trip to get the season going.

85...that was very funny...

will the fish stick dude replace the three sails or be used along with them?

very little camp news to report other than it's hotter than hades in the 'ville and everyone they expected back is in camp

there are a couple of newcombers that have impressed, from what i hear:

- a dl/lb that is apparently pretty nasty...should make an impact as a frosh

- a rb that looks like he might be able to take some of the load off hill

- two really good kickers (i know, i know...they're kickers, but that's a big void the monarchs need to fill)...be sure to watch out for those right hooks though, eh kickerdad :)

- a wr that has impressed in limited drills

- a couple of ol that will push returners and possibly play a lot

Hey Allsky7,

They are picking on kickers again. They tend to bad mouth and make fun of kickers until they win the game by 1 point in the last 2 seconds. Then they become the  best friend of everyone on the team and get taken to dinner (steak) and handed all the drinks they want.

This is the latest news clip from Murvul

http://www.thedailytimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070816/SPORTS/70816006

Football tab from the paper is suppossed to move some new content including one on one with Ierulli, and a preview of scrimmage at Legion Field on Aug. 22. Should be up on web late Friday.

The freshmen qb from Farragut has looked pretty good. No idea if he's the leading No. 3 candidate or not but he's got the best size of any MC quarterback in a few seasons at 6-3 he can actually see over the line which was a problem with Price despite his other gifts. Wall still is the sharpest back there but he's worked with the receivers and backs all spring and on their own this summer. May be interesting to see who has the starting job after the Birmingham Southern scrimmage next week.

Yep, it's an isolated world being a kicker sometimes. Everybody's friend or everybody's goat. Sometimes, you can be both in a short period of time. But man those kickoff return guys sure are tasty.  :D And how on earth can they possibly live down the fact they got cold cocked by a kicker!! I bet their own mother won't even speak to them.  ;D ;D

CNU 85... I wasnt taking jabs.  I just thought the premier team in our league could do a little better than that.

The mascot thing is kindov wierd this year at gc.  The uni has changed several times since I played.  When football started they got rid of the old mascot (the hornets)...Then the jersey change to the new style, now we are in all white (including white helmets).  Maybe the white helmets will help with the heat in the summer?

Hopefully the changes and colors bring some more w's.

Allsky,
Kickers are lame.  I have never seen a kicker lay anybody out.

Roll Pride!

CNU85

Mosh - i didn't take your comments as jabs....all is cool
