kickerdad - I did see the game Sat. Made me want to put my hands over my eyes. The problem could be a bunch of things but I think when you're that bad it is more than likely a little bit of everything. I can say this, I think Coach D and his staff have a good idea what it takes to build a winner. I'm going to sit tight and support through this season. But I do wish they were better b/c I love defending them and talking junk to others about them - but now there isn't anything to say. I check out the boards everyday but good grief I can't do anything but complain about this season and I don't want to turn on the team or the staff.

Good point, hey if you get there early enough this week, look for a blue tent. We will be tailgaiting with a couple of other parents. You are more than welcome to help yourself to some food. Don't know what it will be yet, but I am sure the mom's will take of you.

mosh and kickerdad - I'd been drinking, so I wasn't sober enough to write.  Well, gotta go to my AA meeting.  Later.  :)

Here is a article on the Hornets losing streak in today's Winchester Star.http://www.winchesterstar.com/article_details.php?ArticleID=1736
"If the Hornets hope to get any momentum heading into the second half of the season, they need to start by performing well against the last team they beat. Shenandoah forced six turnovers, blocked a punt, ran for 228 yards and held the ball for 40 minutes and 19 seconds in last year's 36-10 win on Oct 14. The Hornets haven't won since, losing nine straight games in the process."by Robert Niedzwiecki

I think the key sentence Niedzwieki wrote was this "another lopsided defeat could be devastating." One would think things are bad now for SU but a loss on Saturday would throw any confidence they have left in the season right out of the locker room.

So if I make the trek though the wee hours saturday to Newport News just to see MC go down by 28 does that mean CNU85 owes me a beer before the game?  :D

Thanks, mosh.  You were with the Quaker staff last year, weren't you?  What do you think of their chances at BC on Saturday?

Breaking News!! SU has kicked off starting QB Richard Glick and WR Jeremy Maley from the team for not showing up for practice and informing the coaching staff. I'm not sure if its for the rest of the season or not. It looks like it's for the year.

"Our attitude as coaches is we want to coach the players who want to be here," said Barnes, whose 0-5 Hornets on Saturday night host Greensboro, the only team Shenandoah defeated last season. "We'll do the best with what we've got and try to teach them the game of football. The players who are here feel the same way. They want to be around guys who want to be part of it, too and who'll be there in tough times."By Ben Brooks

Although I cant fault Barnes for kicking off the players, he had to take a stand. However my worst fears look like are starting to happen. The team seems to be self imploding onto itself.  :-[

Hasa,

Yeah.  They did it last year.  The can do it again.  Seems like everyone in the Odac has caught up to BC or atleast closed the gap.  It is at BC so if I was a betting man i would put the spread for bc +7.

SU That team def has just quit.

CNU85

Uncle J - that sucks for the die hard fans like yourself and SU97. Just keep supporting them and don't implode as fans.....it'll be that much sweeter when things get turned around!

Hang in there!  :)

Here is another take as to what happend with the two players. this is from the Northern VA Daily. http://www.nvdaily.com/Newstories/290038612536783.bsp
"Oakley confirmed that his teammates were given the impression that Glick and Maley, who are close friends, had no intention of returning. Both were no-shows again Wednesday, and Thursday the university's athletic department released a statement announcing that the players had been dismissed from the team "for a violation of team rules."""

"It's not going the way that we thought it'd be going," safety Brodis Brown conceded. "Over the summer we trained hard, we conditioned hard and our expectations were high for this season. But things aren't going the way we planned. The defections aren't the first for the Hornets. Quarterback Mark Sanford was dismissed from the team before the season, and former all-conference defensive back Justin Mosser quit the team after receiving limited playing time in a 7-6 season-opening loss to Catholic."By Craig Juer -- Daily Staff Writer

I'm pretty much speechless. :-X I just hope things don't get any worse.

That is sad that kids keep bailing on their teammates.  It just shows the good character of those who are staying and are still working their butts off each week.

Jessie, keep the chin up. There are too many players left on that squad who want to play. If they do not have the guts to stick it out for the rest of the team, you're better off without them. Give the rest of the guys all the support you can, regardless of whether they win or loose. They deserve it and it will get better.

ProudFightingScot,

I wouldn't just assume that the kids that left have bad character.  The gen public has no idea what happened.

ProudFightingScot

I never said they had bad character.  I said it shows the good character of those who are staying through it all.  Those who left had their reasons for leaving, but all I was doing was commending those who are sticking it out.  I could have said those who decided to stay deserve a big pat on the back, but instead I threw a bigger compliment to them.
