I liked the change of pace Hughes brought to the game.  I don't think CNU was really ready for it.  It also did give Wall a chance to collect himself after the big hit.

ummm......I'll have to respectfully disagree. 4 carries for 16 yards, no passing stats, doesn't return kicks....not sure with a total of 16 yards anyone could come to the conclusion that CNU wasn't ready for it. I still think Wall going out was not planned...he was hit pretty hard. He just needed a blow and Hughes stepped in for a play....I wouldn't call one emergency snap at QB and 16 total yards of offense anything in which one could read much into it calling it a part of a plan, or strategy, or what a different aspect he brought to the game. Anyway, it's just my opinion - which doesn't mean much.

Wall only needed the one play off and he was right back in after the hit. He's tough and like I said before composed....and only a SO. With the improvements MC has made over the past few years, I'm worried already about next year's game @ MC!!

Maybe he was thrown in there b/c of the hit (I thought I read somewhere they planned on putting him in at some point as a change of pace), but that said it was a change that CNU had to adjust to.  He is more of an option QB and not a passer, so I didn't expect to see any passing from him anyway.  I wouldn't say MVC should change QB's like Florida did last year, but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a change of pace in the game every once in a while to keep the Defense on their toes.  In any case, Wall is MVC's man so as long as he is healthy he will be good to go.  And 85 you are right, he does seem very composed for only starting 7 games now and he will be here 2 more years after this one.  He should be a good one.  Next year should be a good one for Maryville b/c we still are relatively young and with another year of experience under our belt I hope we can take the next step as a program.  If we can start winning those big games with conference implacations watch out... :)

One other thing I want to comment on is the some of the special team play of the Scots.  They did have one miscue on the blocked put, but the coaching staff has to be commended on the guts it took to call a fake punt on their own 11 as well as the onside kick.  They obviously saw some flaws in the CNU kickoff/punt return teams that they took advantage of.  They were big momentum shifters.  Also, it was a heads up play on their field goal block team to try to run it back, which according to the announcers was a bad call on the forward lateral call.  If it was the correct call or not it is worth mentioning.  GO SCOTS!!!

Kickerdad,

I would take a 2-0.  I did play DEFENSE!

I really think Gboro is due to break out though on offense.

yes, the special teams were very aggressive and kept the Scots in the game. I was so mad at the fake punt....from a Scots standpoint, it was "beautiful". Don't listen to your homey radio announcers....that lateral on the blocked PAT was a good 4 yards (probably even more than that) in front....it was so blatant, everyone I was around saw it right away and the flag came out immediately. It wasn't even close...and I know for a fact the media at POMOCO all have a good vantage point. I guess that's why those guys call radio at the D3 level!!  :D :D

It is what I heard so the is what I had to go off of.  In any case it was a heads up play.  Maryville is pretty good at running the fake punts.  I believe they have only missed 1 since Coach Ierulli has gotten there and they run quite a few each year.

which means it is on game film and CNU should have been ready for it!! Maybe he mixed it up a little. Maybe he went left all season long and  this time went right. Wither way, you could tell MC is well coached. 8-2 looks like a real possibility this year.

Second look it was much clearer that it was forward lateral. From visiting radio we were above looking around the pillar at it. Pretty evident on tape so I'll concede it was illegal but beautiful. ;D

I believe MC (Methodist is MU now and Murvul can reclaim MC as its rightful acronym hopefully) was waiting for the 10-man front that the captains used to block the punt the week before. Wish they'd tried it the first time that formation came out at the end of the second qtr and instead got it blocked.

Hughes came in twice, once for one play and once for three plays - all runs. I'm not sure which came after the big hit. Wall got knocked around so much in the last three quarters it's hard to classify the degrees of big hits he endured. ;)

I do give the edge to NCW on atheltics for the 27th. That's not saying that I don't believe Kelchner and crew can't come up with a winning scheme, just that I give NCW an edge right now. I always reserve the right to modify as of game week. 8)

The Scots are off this week and after today so am I !!!!

Mosh,

Just messing with you man. I went both ways and know exactly how you feel. I think both teams are in desperate need of a win somehow, somewhere. Just praying the same thing doesn't happen with Averett that happened with SU.

Enjoy the time off. I'm sure the trip to NN is still having an effect on you. Doing anything fun or just sitting at home listening to Thin Lizzy?  :D

The play that Wall got hit hard...he only came out for one play. Then he came right back in as if nothing happened. The other 3 plays I don't think had anything to do with being hit - probably the coach trying to throw CNU off a little.

The fake punt, CNU had stacked the left side of the O-line, trying for the block, MC ran to the right. I was ticked, so it must have been a good play!  :D :D

Damn I wish I could play again.... All this talk about NCW is ticking me off.... NCW better worry about who they play on Sat... All this board talk may make them fall flat on their face....Ill be honest with you Batteredbard CNU has played poor the last 2 times at Pomoco and still won big....We will focus on MC right now but we will SHOW THE BISHOPS IN DUE TIME WHY POMOCO WILL GIVE THEM A "PEACE OF MIND" "OF COURSE".;D (dont worry you have to be from the Penisula to get it)

Captains MC is on the clock and payback is a  ;).
Finest 54........If you will notice, all this talk you refer to is not coming from the the only three NCWC supporters I see on this board, could be that means they are not looking ahead......... :) I think Coach Ginn would prefer they play each game one at the time....and I think that is the way the supporters are looking at it... the truth will be in the pudding at the end of the season, which ever way it falls. :) By the way, getting in might not be so difficult, but after attending NCWC... staying in is!!

I did notice I never said I was calling out NCW or their coach. Thats why I said all this talk about NCW refering to the chatter coming from NCW fans. Besides come on ref, I played the game what good coach looks ahead? I made no refrence to NCW coaching staff my comments where directed to NCW fans. And as far as speaking on NCW as a school I can't speak on their academics because I never attended the school. But facts are facts, CNU tried to get a few of NCW studs in but could not for various reason. I just get tired of this private vs public debate when people try to discredit the success our program has had over the past years. I HAVE LOST TO PLENTY OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN THE PLAYOFFS AND THEY NEVER THOUGHT THE LITTLE LOTTERY SUPPORTED PUBLIC SCHOOL HAD AN ADVANTAGE OVER THEM, THEY JUST STRAPPED IT ON AND PLAYED.

And to whom ever dinged my karma thanks.  ;D ;D ;D.

And MC fan no animosity over here Im just mad I can't be there for the CNU-NCW game. A certain young lady decided to throw our house warming on the freaking 27th.  :(

Finest,
Remember that with success comes the fact that everyone wants to be where you (CNU) have been able to climb as a team. Like I stated yesterday, everyone just wants to be able to attain the success that CNU has been able to achieve. IMHO, that just makes the conference as a whole better, and maybe just maybe will lead to bigger and better things for everyone.
