Damn I wish I could play again.... All this talk about NCW is ticking me off.... NCW better worry about who they play on Sat... All this board talk may make them fall flat on their face....Ill be honest with you Batteredbard CNU has played poor the last 2 times at Pomoco and still won big....We will focus on MC right now but we will SHOW THE BISHOPS IN DUE TIME WHY POMOCO WILL GIVE THEM A "PEACE OF MIND" "OF COURSE".;D (dont worry you have to be from the Penisula to get it)

Captains MC is on the clock and payback is a  ;).
Finest 54........If you will notice, all this talk you refer to is not coming from the the only three NCWC supporters I see on this board, could be that means they are not looking ahead......... :) I think Coach Ginn would prefer they play each game one at the time....and I think that is the way the supporters are looking at it... the truth will be in the pudding at the end of the season, which ever way it falls. :) By the way, getting in might not be so difficult, but after attending NCWC... staying in is!!

I did notice I never said I was calling out NCW or their coach. Thats why I said all this talk about NCW refering to the chatter coming from NCW fans. Besides come on ref, I played the game what good coach looks ahead? I made no refrence to NCW coaching staff my comments where directed to NCW fans. And as far as speaking on NCW as a school I can't speak on their academics because I never attended the school. But facts are facts, CNU tried to get a few of NCW studs in but could not for various reason. I just get tired of this private vs public debate when people try to discredit the success our program has had over the past years. I HAVE LOST TO PLENTY OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN THE PLAYOFFS AND THEY NEVER THOUGHT THE LITTLE LOTTERY SUPPORTED PUBLIC SCHOOL HAD AN ADVANTAGE OVER THEM, THEY JUST STRAPPED IT ON AND PLAYED.

And to whom ever dinged my karma thanks.  ;D ;D ;D.

And MC fan no animosity over here Im just mad I can't be there for the CNU-NCW game. A certain young lady decided to throw our house warming on the freaking 27th.  :(

Finest 54,,,,,,,Loosen your suspender straps a little,  If you read my response again you might see I never insinuated you making any reference to the coach or fans......I was simply making a statement that we all know and understand, being one game at a time, is the only way NCWC can afford to look at it and it's fans as well. As far as CNU, I respect their program and I think all NCWC fans know that to advance any program in this conference, you must go through CNU first. That, in my book, is a compliment to CNU and their program. As far as your not being able to attend the game, my sympathy goes out to you. As for me, I shall be sitting by the radio, as I to will also be unable to attend . Kudos to you and your program, but as one fan to another.....Go Bishops  :)

Definately negative brownie points on making you miss a huge conference game for a house warming party to her...  At least you can hear it on the internet (I believe CNU has internet streaming for their game).

They do. What's more the stat tracker program on the web site is good for live stats too.
I like it better than some of the D1 versions. But its not the same I know. I'm hoping that maybe I can convince someone (CNU85 hint hint) to trade text on score updates from that game as MC vs MU will be at a noninternet environment where we can't keep up.
<sigh> :-\
maybe next year Murvul's wireless will be in place ::)

For those too bored to do anything else, here's the weekend travel blog.

:D :D :D +1 for the "man card" comment!!

CNU85

I have an irrevocable "man card"....while only being married about 2-3 years, I left my wife at home on her birthday so I could go to a Vikings game!!! (No comments from pakownr from the ODAC board, please!!)...It's been 22 years and she still lets me in the front door!

Priorities, dude!!

Anyone have an idea for a new poll question?

I am re-posting this from the ODAC board in case some of you USA folk don't get over there. I got a little carried away in my response. Probably more appropriate here.  :-[

Maryville was a member of the ODAC for a period of time before a MC President ran the school in the ground causing many problems_ facilities, academics, student population, and other finicial problems.

Oh the stories I could tell!! This period of time impacted me and my family greatly. However, the time I spent there as a member of the MC baseball and football program, "earning" a BA, and the many friendships, far outweigh the negative. I am proud to be a FIGHTING SCOT!!
I am as pumped as I have ever been anticipating my annual HC trip to TN next weekend. The Scots have an off week to heal and prep for Methodist. GO SCOTS......CRUSH THE MONARCHS!! Do not let HC 2005 repeat itself!! You have the opportunity to do something truly special in the history of MC football. Seize the opportunity.

Allsky,
Here's hoping that I did not offend anyone. My post may have had some misinformation in it. I am to young to even know that MC existed at that time. I was just repeating that which I have heard in the past from others. I personally do not know exactly who or what caused the school to fall on "hard" times during that period, yet I do believe that those had an influence on MC leaving the ODAC.

Highlander....you certainly did not offend me. There is at least some accuracy to your post. I can only speak to what I know from my personal experience. However, 20+ years after the fact it is water under the bridge. I try to focus on the positive. It certainly seems that things are good at MC these days. Enrollment is up, athletic teams (mens & womens) are having success, and the campus looks great. Most likely a result of the huge donation I make every year!!  ;) :D GO SCOTS!!

As for why MC left the ODAC........This happened a few years after my time. I do not know the real reason but the word on the street was it had to do with travel, etc. I'm sure there were several factors but travel seems bogus to me. There is no good choice for MC geographically speaking. Most know my ODAC bias but I have always felt like it was a mistake that they left. I think the advantages of being in the ODAC far outweighed any negatives but what the heck do I know. I was thrilled when they joined the USA South. IMO, MC was always sort of the renegade of the ODAC during those years. My inner rebel rather enjoyed that.  ;D As big a fan as I am of Hampden-Sydney, beating an 8 and 2 Tiger team in 1984 will always be a great memory.

Allsky,
It seems that Maryville is finally beginning to perform in all athletic endeavors with the same amount of success that the school has seen in the academic realm for many years. IMHO, I believe that it is great to see all of the teams finding success. Having a strong athletic dept. can only do positive things for the institution as a whole. I, like you, would not trade my memories or experiences for anything in the world. To the point that my better half doesn,t always understand just how deep my feelings lie. But, we have to forgive her- she went to a large public university nearby. ;)

To me, being on the last MC team to beat 3 ODAC schools in the same season was a great memory. That season we were able to beat Bridgewater, H-SC, and good ole E&H on senior day in that season. To make it even better it was my senior year, and we finished the season 7-3. It was always a great day in Maryville when we were able to beat E&H, I am still saddened that the game is not played anymore. There was never anyone we enjoyed beating more than them. For me that meant I was on teams that split the series 2-2.
