there's plenty of misuse of the english language on this board....even this page of posts...it makes me cringe knowing that the language is coming from college grads!

Maybe I'm cranky 'cuz CNU lost....perhaps I should just say "congrads" to NCW and not be so "biast"

dang....that sounds like a Narch-like post!!! :D :D :D

85 - Nice to see we've all managed to emerge relatively unscathed from the higher education system...   ;D

bard - i like this headline..."Lowly Monarchs enact Scots? alumni affair jinx"...maybe it will provide some fodder for the monarchs to win out and carry that momentum into next season and show everyone just how "lowly" they are - i'm sure you didn't mean it to sound disrespectful of a methodist team which has been unable to make the one or two plays each game it takes to win close games for most of the season (until saturday), but something about seeing the word "lowly" attached to the monarchs just strikes me that way...

they were interesting articles and both provided a great account of the game - some of it was a bit hard to read...especially the parts written in whinese (which frequently uses words like "fluke", "jinx" and "luck" and phrases like "they didn't win, we lost")

in all seriousness, though, you guys really cover m'ville well...i wish mu could get 1/10 the press that the scots do, but with 2 local d2 programs and a soon-to-be 1aa (non-scholarship) program, i think the monarchs will have to make due with what they've got - keep up the great work!

Ok, I don't get to write the headlines so I can't claim the discredit for "lowly" or "jinx". (Though our copy desk does great stuff they occasionally have issues with new people too.) "Fluke" I will claim as mine, think it was pretty accurate of the play. It was a great recovery catch by the MU frosh to get that ball but 99 times out of 100 the safety bats it the other way, picks it off or it goes out of reach of bouncing twice and ending up in his hands. Though I did say it was the best play to not make SportsCenter Saturday  — even encouraged MU to send the video of the play to them)  8)

We're really trying to cover the enture USAC as much as possible for football and the GSAC for basketball and baseball. So thanks for the kudos. Hopefully when our website upgrades we can become a real region news resource for D3.

Congrads to the MU on the win.  It is amazing that they were overcome a team running for 450 yards against them.  Yes MC is relatively young, but we can't use that as a crutch to lean on.  I know coach I won't let them use that excuse.  Batteredbard, do you know why the second team QB was in with under a minute left to go in the game?  It was great to see the Scots come back.  Their running game looked great!  The turnout was pretty good for homecoming.  It was great to get to see a lot of old friends.

Wall had a stinger or pad problem with his shoulder and had to have it readjusted. If I noted it right he came out after the fourth down conversion pass and reentered at fourth and 2. But he may have been in for the spike on first down, not sure on it.

Didn't forget you allsky, I can see your point about the lack of game involvement behind the fence. And maybe some of those folks get more involved sitting in the stands even if paying attention only now and then from the social scene.

makes me wonder how much they could do for the stadium if they adopted the strip club stratgey of letting fans buy passes for your beer to come into the stadium. say $20 a six pack, would cover higher insurance rates, p[rovide some spending money and get a lot more folks in the gate. (And before the busting begins, yes I've been but for better or worse its been about 10 years now since a spate of bachelor parties made an establishment a stop. Guess I've gotten older. ::))

SU is my only sit at home Saturday this year so I'll miss seeing the Hornets facilities this fall. But they've already supassed my preseason expectations thinking one nonconf win and the win over Averett. If they let the ball fly MC could be in trouble on the road with a secondary thats just been battered that badly.
Stats say its the best thing to do against Scots. Run defense MC is best in conference given up 958 yards or 119 a game, against the pass they are the worst giving up 1753 after Saturday or 219 a game.

Can the new SU qb throw?

Can the new SU qb throw?

I'd like to know the answer to that question myself...

In all fairness to SU, they played a pretty tough schedule so far this year:

Bridgewater (looks to be 8-2)
Albright (playing for their conference title)
CNU (the hated Captains... ;D)
NCWC  (now receiving votes...)

Hope to see the guys finish strong.

I'd like to make a motion that Batteredbard immediately becomes the new USASAC Commissioner.

What times he threw against AU, he looked good. He did a fair job of scrambling when he had to, as well. The line did a good job protecting as well. Now remember they were
playing Averett who hasn't won a game and has nothing to brag about. We do have a good pass rusher in Jason Hill and they kept him in check all day.

SU to "let the ball fly." Yeah that will be the day. I think the percentages are better for the Redskins to win the Super Bowl this year than for SU to pass on a consistent basis.

I admitt I have been spectical all season long  about CNU chances of winning the conference title out right.  Going on the results of the game against NCWC last year.  Congrats to NCWC, but over the past 7 years I learn to equate D3FB officiating to the same as officiating JV basketball. Inadquated indecisions, when a 170lb QB takes the  snap and takes two steps and stand straight up for no gain and gets a full yard on the spot no wounder the athletes are better than the officiating. :o ::) :-X

Lunsford, has not done a terrible job as the new QB but lets face it he has not lit the house on fire as well. In 3 games he is 17-41 and has 4 INT's and no passing TD's. Having a tough schedule I'm sorry. I just don't buy into that excuse. Besides Albright they have the same schedule year in year out pretty much. They have beat Greensboro, a team they have now beat 2 years in a row and Averett who is in a slide. Not exactly jaw dropping victories. I think this Saturday will be a hard one for the Hornets to win. Is it winnable for them? Yes, but I wont be surprised if they lose either. Next week could go either way as well. Is SU the worst USAC team this year? No, but they are a long way from challenging any of the top teams. Especially with the style they play. Winning by the large margins that they have beat GC and AU by is great. But if they are down by 10 points with less than 10 minutes left in the game its very hard for them to come back and win a game. Unless they get some major recruiting going on this fall and winter I  fear they are going to have a very similar experience next year as well.

One thing I think you forgot to mention....the QB is 6'5 taking 2 steps to his left where two OL weighing 250 and 275 are blocking. If they didn't get 3 inches then how was the game so close to begin with?
