Final score was not reflective of the game - SU's late push resulted in a TD to bring it within a score. MU seemed to be in control.

I am glad to see that it was Diggs who scored at the end though, he had a good career at SU and the senior deserved it.

I liked what I heard from the Amley kid at WR.  Good to hear some youngsters are stepping up at the end of the season.
thanks, '97 - the monarchs really played a pretty solid game on both sides - defense made some nice stops - there were some bad penalties and lots of turnovers that kept su in the game in the 1st half, but the monarchs were dominant in the second half - like you, i want to tip my cap to the monarch seniors - they had outstanding careers, and while 4-6 isn't the way any of them wanted to go out, they didn't pack it in at any point this season and finished strong - thanks for 4 great years of football, guys (ditto to all of the other usasac seniors)

whoever said su runs the wing-t doesn't know what they're talking about or su has completely re-vamped their offense - they didn't line up in a wing formation once today (mostly I-formation) - su does have some parts...87 is as good a freshman wr as i've seen in a while...he's got great size, decent speed and good hands - 26 is quick and nimble (not sure what year he is) - qb play leaves a lot to be desired - if su had a qb that was mobile or could throw with some consistency, they'd be dangerous

i want to see the box score, because i'll bet mu out-gained su by 180-200 yards (or at least it seemed that way) - i'll have more later

What was the final score of the SU-MU game?

Your right Narch about the Wing T. Around I guess the 6th or 7th game SU has been lining up out of the I more and more. I give Barnes credit today for mixing it up today. He called 36 rushing plays and 32 passing plays. I have been hard on Barnes about the play calling but today I have to say he called a pretty good game. Perhaps this will carry over to next season with this being a little more balanced style......  :-\

The final score Scot was 27-20. But like it was stated before it was not as close as the score reads.

Narch the final box score was MU with 423 total yards and SU had 333 Rushing it was MU 240 SU 140.http://www.su.edu/athletics/fb/current/111007.htm
# 87 is Raphael Amey. He seems to be the real deal. I hope they use his talents a lot more next season. He is only a freshman. Today he had 7 rec for 153 yds and a long for 81. He was also named USA South Conference offensive Rookie of the Week on this past Monday. For the season he had 26 rec. for 462 yards. They absolutely need to get the football in this kids hands more next season. I'll also have more later on. Congratulations MU on a well played game.

i was shocked to see the final stats as close until i remembered an 81 yard bomb on the next to last play :)

i think su is going to be in decent shape going forward, but they've got to get better qb play, especially if they're going to continue to throw it as much as they did today

getting back to the seniors today - all 4 monarch offensive seniors made solid contributions today - hill had a great game, going for 140 and 2 td's...his first td was vintage mike hill...mike has been banged up all season long and really hasn't had an amazing season, but he showed today what he can do when he's healthy and on - doleman made 2 great catches today and spent a lot of time behind su db's, but the wind made it difficult to get him the ball - mularski had 90 all purpose yards and played tough...that guy loves contact, especially for a wr - even romin poussin got in on the action with a really nice catch in the first quarter

on defense, lawrence was a beast...he had a couple of huge hits and burlingame and perkins made some nice plays as well - perkins blocked the first xp attempt, but there was an offside penalty - merritt, hayden and smith played solid games up front and played especially well in the second half

in the post-game interview, mularski had some comments that were goose-bump inducing about his career as a monarch and playing that final game...again, that was a fun group to watch and they'll be missed

here is a good article from the fayetteville observer this morning profiling lawrence

...but

i'm really excited about the future for monarch football - not so much because the monarchs won the last 3 games...the schedule has a little to do with that...but because i'm excited about what the monarchs return - the entire OL is sophomores...i can't remember coach funderburk ever being so excited about a group of o-lineman - being sound up front allows you to do a lot of things - the young receivers are going to be good - fulmore can stretch the defense and has good hands and hopkins catches everything you throw him and finds a way to keep moving the chains...if mu can find another guy on the outside, the receiving corps will be just fine, even without doleman and mularski - the rb's are rock solid - mcguire is a little bowling ball...he runs hard and strong, but has some wiggle, too - harrison can motor and seems to have good hands out of the backfield - the playing time they got this year should be huge next year - then there's the qb...i've been amazed by the progression parks has made this year - the game seems to have really slowed down for him and i think the sky is the limit for him...he could leave mu with a lot of records if he continues to progress - he's so poised and a great leader...reminds me of a certain former monarch qb with his athleticism (not you papi :))

on the defensive side of the ball, i like the way the back end has progressed - mu didn't have a single db who had ever started a college game when the season started, and by the end of the season, those guys really became one of the strengths of the team - king and bartee, in particular, played well, but i was impressed today with the play of frosh michael johnson, as well - losing 3 lb's and 3 dl will hurt, no question, and i think the monarchs are going to have to outscore teams to win a lot of games next year, especially early, but the coaches moved leary up to a lb slot and he played REALLY well today and peters, blalock and glover are frosh lb's that had flashes of being really solid throughout the year...the cupboard certainly isn't empty

last thought on the monarch season...mu was very much in 5 of their 6 losses - a play here, a play there, and this is a team that could have had a very different record - last time mu had a young team that lost a lot of close games, they went 7-3 the next year (with a junior qb) then finished 8-2 the following year...i'm certainly not going to predict such lofty results this early in the offseason, but if this team works hard in the offseason, there is no reason they can't compete for a conference championship

GO MONARCHS!

7-3 is pretty solid.  Does anybody remember seeing Tim Mcgraw in Friday Night Lights?   If one isn't careful they could end up losing touch with what football at this level is really about.

Pride gets the Big W against the Bishops this week!

Roll Pride!

Congrats CNU on another win and thanks to the seniors for another successful season of CNU football. Mosh has his opinion but I know you guys came to CNU to win championships while getting a good education.  Use the offseason wisely and continue to work hard to bring even more success to our school. Seniors, CNU 85 has the right idea, now its time to soley focus on graduating and becoming responsible adults in your respective communities. While next season won't be the same, you have paid your dues and joined the CNU football alum fraternity. I think we have more than enough room for you guys at our d1 style tailgate events.  ;D ;D ;D

Until next season.....GO Bishops...... Bring more RESPECT TO OUR GROWING CONFERENCE. ;)

Uncle Jessie

With a 55-14 win NCW became the first team in USAC history to go undefeated in league play.  ;D I want to congratulate the players and the NCW fans on this. I'll be cheering for you in the playoffs. I guess I should now say.... GO BISHOPS!!

really nice season, bishops - 8-2 with close losses to wesley and widener is very respectable...now back it up with a first round win in the playoffs!  Go Bishops!

moshergc9

I took a class for a semester at nc wes.  I guess that makes me a bishop.

Nah...Pride fan for life.

Still goodluck Bishops.  Show some people what eastern nc football is capable of.

Fellas, thanks for all the love on the board today. NCW got a tough draw
and 500 miles to travel. We'll need all the good karma we can get. It's
good to win the conference outright. Now the men have to go to PA. and get
the job done. I know Old REf & NCWDad join me in saying ,"GO BISHOPS"!!!!!!!!
