told ya...

just had a hunch the bishops were going to get things done today - on the blog i had complained about ncwc getting an 8 seed (i felt like they were a superior team to hsc), but they obviously matched up well with the presidents...maybe it's a good thing they didn't get a rematch with wesley

there's a tough road ahea, though, in umhb...not sure the bishops have two in them, but it sure would be nice for the conference for them to make a run...

great job bishops!

bob.gregg - cnusfinest is a former cnu player who had a couple of seasons ended by the presidents...i think it would be ok if you allowed him to gloat over a presidents loss today - calling said loss a "punch in the mouth" is a pretty tame way to gloat, honestly, especially when the president's were a #1 seed losing to a #8 at home

CNU Do you have a link to the list of players selected?  I am interested to see how may USA South players were selected.

No I don't. I read it on the CNU website. I'll search around and if I find something I'll post it for everyone.

I don't eat crow, particularly served by Doctors Of Hyperbole.

I've lived a long time, and followed sports for most of that long life.

Exactly when is that the world start calling a win something more than just a win?

When, exactly, did a 1-point win, become a punch in the mouth, Dr. Hyper?

You know what, never mind.

To the people that matter, the NCW fans and team, I called a fair, clean, decently played game.  I gave both sides their due.  Presented all the relevant factors of the contest, a 1-point overtime win for the Bishops who made more plays than the Presidents.  And I offered congratulations on a good win, their first-ever in the playoffs.

If you feel the need to call it a punch in the mouth, be my guest.

as my teenage daughter would say....."Dang, calm yourself"

oops...almost forgot...Congrats (that's with a "T" not a "D" for some of you guys! Right, Narch?) to NCW. A nice win for the conference. And it was against a very tough opponent. A nice quality W for the Bishops. I didn't follow the game...how did it end a 1 pt win in OT? Did NCW make a 2 pt conversion or did they stop/block a kick.....????

cnufinest can be my guest!

It's almost hysterical to watch someone "gloat" particularly when the thing they're gloating over they could never do themselves, nor help those around them do it either.

Seriously, I've got no problem with congratulations for the win, for the way it came about, for celebrating.  But it just wasn't a punch in the mouth.

Now, had the Bishops done what it looked like they might have--blow the Presidents out--THAT would have qualified as a punch in the mouth.

No big deal, really.

Post on!  Smite on!  Play on!  Good luck Bishops!
Been wrong before.  Will be wrong again.

bob.gregg - as an outsider, i've got to say you're seeming very much like a frustrated fan of a losing team...seeing you vent that frustration and downplay the loss is almost as hysterical to me as watching cnusfinest gloat is to you - i think it's commendable that a fan of a fellow conference member is happy to see another conference team accomplish something that his team could not

i'd say the first ever win by a #8 seed over a #1 seed is a pretty significant win, if not a "punch in the mouth", especially when that win is in a team's fourth year of existence and first ever playoff appearance

wow....did Narch and I just agree on something?

can't find the Aztec Bowl roster on line. I even tried afca.com.

I'll keep looking and I've sent a few emails out asking people in the know if they can find the roster for us.

I just read the game notes on the W&J football page. Why would a team, at home, in the first OT, fake a PAT and try to run it in? Just kick it, and give your D a chance to stop it. Especially when you had the ball second in OT and you know, without a doubt, that if you get stopped you go home. That just doesn't make any sense to me. That is a type of play that an 8 seed would make on the road, not a #1 seed at home. If I was a W&J fan, I would be livid at the coach's decision to go for 2 in that situation!!!!!

Good luck to NCW in Belton next week. At least it will be a little cooler than when I went down there in September. Your team speed and type of offense will do well on that field. I guarantee UMHB will be the fastest and hardest hitting team you have faced EVER!!

Punch 'em in the mouth!!! (Or at least win by 1)  :D ;D

Good Luck!!

Ok Bobby call it a "slap in the face" ;D. Hysterical is your coach going for 2 in ot when they are the #1 seed at home in the South Region playoffs. Just like I said in one of my earlier post W&J is just plan arrogant, and according to a few D3 posters we don't know why.  I am extremly happy for NCW there is nothing like winning a playoff game so I just wanted to give them their due. They beat a so called #1 team at their place, in the playoffs, in their fourth year of existence. So don't try to minimize their accomplishments over your "Dead Presidents" that was a punch in a mouth no matter how you look at it because it sure did "knock them out of the playoffs".  ;D ;D It feels good having another USAC team win a playoff game and why not against the "Dead Presidents".

Figure it out....My team disappointed me not the Presidents.

GO Bishops....

Ralph Turner

Congratulations to the Bishops!

Welcome to Texas!  :)

Smith Reed

The Bishops managed to pull a rabbit out of their helmet today.
They played a good W&J team today and came away with a
victory. Bob Greg called a very objective game today. Kudos to you,
Bob. I enjoyed the calling of the game and the commentary. I hope you
read my comments before the game. NCW is a senior team so that
balanced their lack of playoff experience. The keys to today's victory
were team speed,tough defense,good coaching,headsup special teams,
and adequate offensive decision making. Now these young men have to
travel 1400 miles to play a football game against an even tougher opponent.
All I can say is play DEFENSE-- and GO BISHOPS!!!!!!!

P.S.Old Ref & NCWdad the men in blue & gold represented their school
and their conference well today.

Thanks for all the love on the board today. I say this as fan of NCW football.

Congratulations to the Bishops!

Welcome to Texas!  :)

Ralph - didn't you say that exact thing before CNU came to town in Sept. Is that phrase a kiss of death!!!

Welcome to Texas! Ugghh...I want to forget that game!!

NCW is more athletic and faster than CNU - at least on offense. It should be a shootout!! Should be fun to watch.
