Congratulations to the Battlin' Bishops!  Your prize is a trip to Texas!  You did it once, now just repeat until late on Saturday afternoon, December 15th.  :)  NCWC obviously has a fine team.  I won't be there this Saturday, but I sincerely hope I get a chance to see you play in person this season.  Go NCWC!

Just out of curiosity will NCW get any financial support from NCAA for the trip to Texas? I've been curious how that works in the playoffs. Didn't know if there was help or not. Seems like CNU put a six-figure amount on the cost of going down there in the regular season, but that was ona charter flight.

Congrats to NCW. It was a good win, overtime, 1pt or not, its a playoff win — something the USAC needed. Wouldnt even have needed ot if the kicker makes that field goal with 7 seconds left. I can see some shrewdness and arrogance in faking a PAT in first OT. You really could win it because who is expecting any coach to make that call in that situation? Flip side, why in the hell risk it unless you're afraid of not keeping up? And who knows maybe that's a possibility. NCW came out the bad side last year in that four ot game at Murvul but it certainly showed even then they could match you score for score when they get the ball that close to start a drive.

Would love to see them pull the shocker at MHB but I have the feel the speed factor that has been so important is about even in that pairing.

The NCAA pays for the travel in the playoffs. Hence the 52 man roster and the Texas sub-bracket each year. The less flights the cheaper in the NCAA's eye. In this case it was a flight either way since a W&J win would have required a UMHB flight. ;)

Just wanted to send a note to congratulate the Bishops on a very nice win in the play-offs. With their speed, depth, and athletic ability I can see them playing a good game in Texas. Although, they really have their work cut out for them. In my eyes, I see their success as a positive in the following ways- (1) It is always a positive for everyone in the conf. when any team has success in the play-offs. (2) For Maryville, it shows that if they are able to continue to improve that maybe just maybe they might be in the same situation. With that they must find ways to when those games that have large conf. implications. i.e. games against NCWC, CNU, that pesky Methodist team- who has become to be a Homecoming game demon, and for that matter everyone else in the conf. Good Luck to the Bishops in Texas.

85, et al: The Aztec Bowl roster is not finalized until the week before so that seniors on teams eliminated from the playoffs can be included.

HIGHLANDER- Isnt a homecoming game supposed to be against a team you know you can beat? Actually in all honesty, both games have been really well. We came in in 2005, second in the conference, and you guys gave us a game. That game has turned out to be pretty close all three years. I say they keep it going.

Congrats to NCWC, i had you guys chosen to win. Looking at the stats and seeing how they compared to you guys, i knew they owuld be the 1 seed eliminated. Great job guys, keep it rolling.
GO MONARCHS!! 2005 Conference Champs!

The Bishops managed to pull a rabbit out of their helmet today.
They played a good W&J team today and came away with a
victory. Bob Greg called a very objective game today. Kudos to you,
Bob. I enjoyed the calling of the game and the commentary. I hope you
read my comments before the game.

Thanks, Smith Reed.
Been wrong before.  Will be wrong again.

Congrats to NCWC for their victory. You have made the entire USAC proud. Good luck in Texas.

If that's the case, who does Duke schedule for homecoming?  ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D

I do not know how the Homecoming is planned. I think that the weekend is determined by the Alumni Office w/o any regard to who the opponent is that weekend. All I do know is the fact that Methodist has become a team that has really been a thorn in Maryville's side in Homecoming games. I do agree that all of the matchups have been well played games by both teams. Maybe, its kind of like the relationship between the respective Head Coaches.

I have some really sad news to report.  Last night, the Fighting Scots secondary coach Cody Bowers was in a car wreck and died.  Details are still coming in and are a little sketchy at the moment but it is a very sad situation.  I knew Cody personally for 7 years now as I went to college with him and we were good friends.  He was a great man and a great friend.  I can't say enough about his kindness and willing to be there when you needed any help.  I greatly miss him already.  He was a true fighting scot.  Cody will be greatly missed not only by me, but also by the entire Maryville community.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time.
