Nice article on the SU website highlighting former hornet Anthony Hayes making the roster for the Amarillo Dusters of Arena Football League 2.
Anthony's moving to Amarillo may be culture shock.  It's not Kansas, but you can see it from there!

Dare him to eat the 72 oz steak!

I'll bet he cannot do it!   :D  ;D  ;)

Does anyone really know how this All-Region team is built?   Just comparing WR's Jesse Bradshaw from CNU out performed both 2nd team guys by FAR, so how does he get 3rd team?  Is it more of a favoritism or popularity contest rather than a stats and how much you contribute to a team?

If you want to promote division 3 sports, do a google search for pontiac game changing performance and vote for the only d3 play that will likely be seen there for a long time.  We only have a few days left and Appalachain State is currently in the lead.

A vote for Trinity is a vote for d3football.

Check out the Daily Dose. I pieced together some thoughts about the Orange Bowl and Stagg Bowl. I hope you find it entertaining

good stuff, '85

Just say "NO" to the fake stuff.  It is definitely better than the old astroturf crap, but Shentel is a beautiful stadium with real grass.

It sounds like the people who want the fake stuff want it so other sports can play on the same field.  The new turf is much more durable than grass.

Call me a traditionalist, but there is nothing better than a beautiful football stadium with natural grass.

Either way, Bridgewater will beat Shenandoah every year no matter the surface, location, weather, etc.

Oops.  Sorry.  I couldn't resist.
GO BC!

I was a die-hard grass fan until I saw a game last September at Salem Stadium. Wow! My impressions had been stuck on the old astroturf, but seeing and feeling the new stuff, I think I may have changed my tune.

That said....

Shentel is awesome the way it is now. The grass adds to the natural feel and surroundings of the stadium that give it the aura it has. Turf may make things there seem more "phony," if that's the right word. In this case, I'd be in favor of keeping grass at the stadium. But (and this is a big "but") the groundskeepers need to mow it regularly. When I was there last season, the depth of the grass darn near swallowed my shoes!  :D

Hmmm, pumping yourself up picking on the USA South's 2-8 team? Setting that brass ring a little low, are we?

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Congrats to CNU's Leroy Harper. The Schipper Award is an outstanding honor!

After 11 days without a post on this board, I figured I'd try to shake off some of the dust.

Here's a peek at some of the posted skeds:
FERRUM
September:
6 -- Emory & Henry
13 -- Southern Virginia
20 -- at Bridgewater
27 -- Shenandoah (Family Weekend)
October:
4 -- at Averett
11 -- Maryville
18 -- at Methodist
November:
1 -- at Greensboro
8 -- N.C. Wesleyan
15 -- Christopher Newport

Still playing SoVa?! Argh!! I can't wait for that deal to expire.
Also, odd that E&H is again at home and BC is again on the road.

SHENANDOAH
September:
6 -- Catholic
13 -- at Bridgewater
20 -- at Albright
27 -- at Ferrum
October:
4 -- Christopher Newport
18 -- at Greensboro
25 -- N.C. Wesleyan
November:
1 -- Averett
8 -- at Maryville
15 -- Methodist

No doubt in a perfect world, real grass would be the best choice. I have had the opportunity to walk on the new field turf a couple of times now. Stuff is pretty sweet. A far cry from the old astro (hard as concrete, tear up your knee) turf.  8)
