AUCougars

Congratulations to Kyle Wilson.  The second Cougar named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week in the last two weeks.

Welcome to theboard AUcougars. It's nice to have fans from all the schools here. Heck, we might even let in a SID once in awhile!  ;)

Thanks for the welcome CNU 85.  I have read so many of your posts I feel I've known you for years.

On another note...Averett's Kyle Wilson named one of Don Hansen Football Gazette's National Offensive Players of the Week.

Anybody know what factors in to the Don Hansen poll? Or who votes? Is that a reputable poll? CNU is 25th and Ferrum is 38th. :o

I don't think you can properly call it a poll if only one opinion is involved. Just my $.02.

Has anybody seen my good friend Narch?

Must be a superstition thing.....don't give CNU fans ammo to fire back with at 4 pm on Saturday or provide stuff to put in the locker room this week.

Silly Narch and his superstitions.......Personally I can't wait until CNU wins so I can return to wearing my under wear properly and wash my socks.

sorry boys...it's been a VERY busy week...but it's captain week and i get to see some football on saturday, so everything is right with the world - predictions:

ncwc 27 - su 17: bishops running game, defense too much for hornets

au 44 - gc 38: roberson has cut down on to's and makes gc offense more dangerous, but au has figured out how to run the ball - balance is what it's all about

mc 24 - cnu 22 (if mike hill plays): i'm hearing that hill's groin is still possibly an issue (although i can't get confirmation) - if he plays, the monarchs are balanced and run the ball as well as anyone but fc in the conference - no disrespect to mcswain, but hill is a game breaker and a difference maker - if he plays, the monarchs win on a patrick larkin fg as time expires

Are you serious........do you really think MC has a chance against CNU.......yeah ok no wonder your a MC fan....Why on earth do you think that they have a chance...granted it gonna be a good game like it always is but i think cnu has the definate advantage.....Rocket is good but he doesn't have the weapons that Jones does....Mc defense is suspect at best and their special teams arent compairable....sorry i know my spelling sucks.....But like I said it will be a good game...but not close

I'm surprised that CNU allows its 6'2", 219-lb defensive tackles from Yorktown, VA to post here.

Ok now that I've checked through multiple translation books and have figured out exactly what that post said, I'm gonna guess that you are a CNU fan and that you think CNU will win.  Yes, Narch is a Monarch fan and like myself he definitely believes MC has a chance to beat CNU.  I think it will all depend on what team shows up for the Monarchs.  If the team that played the first quarter at Ferrum shows up, we have NO chance.  If the team that played the 2nd half of the Ferrum game shows up I think we have a real good chance at beating the Captains.  I'm predicting a possible overtime showdown!

"A good game...but not close"  What does that mean?

Narch, doesn't look like I'll be making it up to the game this weekend.  Duty calls once again  >:(

- he clearly gives new meaning to the term student-athlete...nice - gotta be proud of that, eh '85 :)

Why on earth do you think that they have a chance
- let's see - one common opponent, salisbury - mc gave up just 78 yards more than cnu - offensively, mc gained 79 more yards vs. ssu than cnu (mc played ssu in the first week, with a new offense) - the monarchs also had to take a 6+ hour bus ride to play them, while cnu got them in pomoco - both lost by 20 points, but the monarchs actually led ssu for most of the first half...cnu was never closer than 4 points against ssu...oh yeah, and i'm a monarch fan and CLEARLY see everything through green and gold glasses :)

Mc defense is suspect at best
- i would agree, but i would also point out that if you take away the m'ville game, cnu hasn't exactly been world beaters defensively, either - statistically, the teams cnu has played in conference to this point (su, gc, m'ville) are at the bottom in terms of yards/game and the teams mc has has played (au, fc, ncwc) are at the top of the conference in terms of yards/game - maybe cnu's defense looks better than mc's on paper because they've played weaker offensive teams?

Quote from: askyouserious on October 21, 2005, 04:17:32 PM
their special teams arent compairable [sic]
- you're right...or maybe you're not - both teams have 6 fg's...mc is 20-22 on xp's, cnu is 18-24...cnu avg. 3 more yds/punt than mc...cnu avgerages .8 yds/punt ret more than mc....cnu averages 6 yards/kickoff ret more than mc...cnu's kickers have had 2 touchbacks, mc has had 9 - those numbers look pretty close

narch

papi - sorry you'll miss the monarchs first win over cnu ;D...i'm sure there will be a good crowd, though, and if you can get online, you'll be able to get the webcast

cnu's change from bryant to jones at qb is big for them - in my opinion, bryant is a better passer, but jones is a better athlete and can make things happen with his feet that bryant can't/doesn't - he can turn bad plays into good plays with his ability to move outside of the pocket - the other BIG thing is that jones doesn't make as many mental mistakes - last year bryant threw up at least 4 or 5 balls that just shouldn't have been thrown - unfortunately the monarchs weren't able to capitalize on those mistakes - if the monarchs can play mistake free ball, and force the captains into making some errors...game on - the monarchs also have to control the emotions surrounding this game...homecoming, cnu, must-win to stay in conference race...last year they looked TOO hyped for the first 10-12 minutes and cnu seemed to calmly march it down the monarch's throats - they've gotta come out ready to play from the first snap, as papi said, and be the team that has played the second half of the last 4 games (and not the team that has played the first half of 3 of those 4)
