Does anyone know how you can find out how much each school in the usa south cost?

I think trying to compare published rates is moot. I've just gone through the college application process with my daughter. Here's what I found  - and she is not going to participate in college sports although she did in high school.

She was accepted at 3 public schools - 1 in NC and 2 in Va. For these schools we were offered this in financial aid -

2 Va Schools - $5,500 unsibsidized Stafford loans
1 NC school - $26,000 unsibsidized Stafford Loans

She received the following from a Va private school in which she did not apply and did not even visit their website - $9,000 scholarship and a $3,000 Grant - plus I imagine she would have gotten the $5,500 unsibsidized Stafford as well.

My point being - if she was a d3 caliber athlete - what do you think would have happened?  Mostly likely the same result from the public schools and higher aid from the private school. I even believe had we contacted the one private school and expressed an interest, the scholarship and/or grant offer would have increased. So I imagine athletes get quite a bit of help at private schools.

She also revieved phone calls from other schools - but when we saw Ferrum on the caller ID, we kept watching TV!!   ;D  - that was for Mr. Tipps!

Still I think it would be interesting.  As far as Greensboro College goes.  I got all the way to my junior year and because of a mistake on my fafsa (my mother accidently put in the wrong school code) I lost an 8000 dollar scholarship.  that was a very tough decision to stay but I did.  I even had this one old guy barry somebody at the school tell me to take a bus home if i didnt like it.  I think he got fired a few years later.  Anyway, I wouldnt say that athletes get that much special attention at private schools or maybe i just wasnt a good enough athlete.

Wonder what the fall will be like for the pride

It depends on the schools. I went through this last year with my son who was recruited by 6 or 7 different D III schools for Football. One of the schools who is always in the top 20 rankings was very involved in the financial aid piece. The Head Coach flat out said they would match any financial aid any other school would give. Another school's Head Coach said the football staff has NO CONTACT or say with the financial aid part of the admission process. In the end my son was offered a merit scholarship at each of the schools ranging from $12,000 to $18,000. However, I think he would have received those awards whether he played football or not. I really don't think it mattered that he was an athlete as far as $$$$. Where I do think it could help as far as D III schools ,is if he was border line in getting accepted. The coaches might have a say with the admissions people. But as far as getting more financial aid or academic money I really don't think it helps being an athlete. Just my opinion from my experence with the whole process.

I am pretty sure when Greensboro College started fb they gave some really really good packages.  Like where a few gifted kids paid very little but I think as time has passed that has pretty much gone away.  FB brings students and money into GC and I dont think they are in a good situation to give free rides to anybody right now.  I really dont have a clue how things are going now so it is all speculation on my part.  Id like to see them give some really good packages to some really good players though.  that would be awesome.

I doubt it would've been more than 4% higher, considering they have to stay within that margin to avoid violating D-III rules.

There's an article on the front page of today's Greensboro News & Record about GCP's finances ... not good ... 20 percent salary cuts and layoffs ... including faculty.  French has been reduced to a minor from a major, as well as lots of public outcry about the President's salary, etc.

Greensboro College

I think that the author did not comprehend the endowment issue.  I think that the endowment is greater than single digit millions of dollars.  It looks like the return on investments were down 40% or $1M.

Yes, I agree.  I've heard numbers before for Greensboro's endowment and it's certainly higher than $10M, maybe even as much as $30M ... and I say that not knowing what they've lost in investments.

ProudFightingScot

Maryville is $37,000 a year.  About $27K in tuition and $10K in room and board...

I hear practices are going well.  About 70 out for spring ball.  Big losses on the offensive and defensive lines from last season.

I heard Shenandoah is thinking about leaving the USA-South.  Any truth to that rumor.....

They've been trying to get into the ODAC for some time, yes.

D3 got blanked in the draft but somebody (odds are) will get the free agent route. I would venture a DB given the heavy numbers picked this draft. Probably a head banger.....

Wake's defense seems to have been picked up.......

I've heard they are trying some other options othe than the ODAC since the ODAC keeps saying "no". But I've only "heard" things and don't know anything for sure.

I've also heard rumours that pro scouts are looking at Tunde-Ogun.

I'm sure our resident Tunde expert is still floating around on the board and can probably fill in some blanks if he so wishes, but from what I was told, Tunde did well on his Pro Day last week. He was told he needed to slim down a bit (shed about 15 pounds), but it sounds like he had some wheels in the rain (4.7 for his 40).

The scouts are planning to check back in during the fall.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.
