CNUdude - What part of VA are you coming from?

I think we have a group of 8-10 who may drive up. We are trying to find a B&B or something similar to stay at.

I think there was a 3 way tie in Texas a couple years ago and it seemed like the point differential against common opponents was the deciding factor. I can't imagine that they would actually flip a coin. If it is a coin toss how do you decide which teams go first (3 teams, 2 sides to the coin???)

Each conference decides for itself what its tiebreaking procedures will be.  Someone needs to ask the USAC office (or visit the website, hopefully the tiebreakers are on the web).

finest - we are talking about different issues...you're talking about a national scale, i'm talking about a conference scale - you're right that mc has not played an elite defense...they won't either, unless they get a ncaa playoff berth - all discussion about o-lines and the majority of all-conference selections the past few years have centered around the captains, su and even to a degree, ferrum - i think in that context the monarch o-line is very much underrated - personally, i think they are better than the cnu line - the monarchs got TONS of pressure yesterday rushing just 3 in the first half...both sacks were when the monarchs rushed just 3 - in the 2nd half cnu got out of the 4 wide spread they were running in the 1st and kept a te in to block about 50% of the time, and the monarchs didn't blitz much - keep in mind, the monarchs aren't exactly a powerhouse defensive unit, yet the cnu line needed 6 to block 3 or 4 - if you had asked anyone around the conference prior to the game which team had a better ol, it would have been a landslide vote for the captains, yet the monarchs line outperformed them...that is the DEFINITION of underrated - who knows what mc can/will do offensively on a national level? ssu and cnu are clearly the best defensive teams the monarchs have played to this point, and they've passed both tests with flying colors...what else can they do?

as far as mosh goes, we read his statement differently - you're still acting like an uneducated, immature punk to start threatening someone with imprints of your conference championship rings on a message board - i'm sure i'll be the next to feel the wrath of your threats  :'(, but i think i can more than handle them (as can mosh) - i'm a big boy who isn't easily intimidated, especially by someone on some message board - good luck to your boys when they play ferrum...i'll be rooting hard for the captains that day, and that day only

i'm about 90% certain that a 3 way tie would be settled by a coin flip...i'm working on getting confirmation, but coach sy thinks so as well (per his post game comments on the radio)

Hmm I wonder if the password and username I have are any good, I may have to check it out, but of course, if I find it out, Ill have deny all knowledge of it!!

tcheadhunter-You live in williamsburg??

cnufan

Just checked with someone on the "inside" and here's what they told me.

Tie breakers are:
1. Head-to-head competition (which is moot in a three-way tie if it plays out the way we all hope it does.)
2. Performance against higher-rated teams in Conference (not applicable)
3. Common opponent records
4. Coin toss

There are not alot of places to stay around Ferrum.
There is a Comfort Inn in Rocky Mount.  10 miles away. Also plenty of places in Roanoke, but thats 35 miles away

If you want to camp there is Fairy Stone State Park 800-933-PARK for reservations

CNUfan - I do live in Williamsburg. Down near Jamestown Island, off of Greensprings Rd. What about yourself? Also in Williamsburg?

Thanks AllenC. I looked on the internet today and didn't come up with much. I did see a few places in Rocky Mount, Martinsville and Danville. I am assuming that they are all close to Ferrum. There seem to be a few B&B's in the area with reasonable rates as well ($100-$150/night).

Dont assume that
Roanoke is closer than Danville.

Martinsville is not that bad, but there really is no straight shot.

Had the oppurtunity to watch the Gboro game this weekend...

Greensboro is getting better every game this year and I wouldnt be surprised if it knocked a team out of that coin flip you guys are talking about.  Besides three bad snaps on punt team they played a pretty clean game.

allen c & blackhats- you've got to be feeling pretty good about your boys right now...it sure would be nice if the monarchs controlled their own destiny - fc can actually lose any 1 game but the cnu game, and the bid is theirs by virtue of hth with mc - does that comfort inn in rocky mount have running water? :)

cnufan - that's exactly how i understand the tie breaker, as well - it really is the most sportsmanlike way to do it, although i don't like it (hopefully gc or ncwc AND cnu will take care of ferrum and the monarchs will win out so we don't have to worry about a tie breaker :)) - otherwise, you would have teams really trying to run up the score, and that wouldn't sit too well with coaches or fans

Narch. To continue our discussion from the ODAC board:
BC and Ferrum have 3 common opponents so lets see how they fared:

Ferrum 41,Guilford 7
Ferrum 29,E&H 13
Ferrum 34,Shenandoah 13

BC 62,Guilford 46
BC 31, E&H 17
BC 49, Shenandoah 20

I am a BC fan and have been for over 20 years but if we played Ferrum it would be a very close shootout. Ferrum is +71 vs those 3 teams and BC is +59.

Yes it has running water....its down the hill by the parking lot!

I have never stayed there, but my guess is they have most all of the modern ammenities, even iff their continental(sp??) breakfast consists of eggs and pickled pigs feet. I will be there, staying in the comfort inn friday night. I doubt there will be alot to do....cow tipping or something like that.

It should be a good game, but I just hope FC benefits from the week off, and dont  lose their edge for these next two games. They need to be there hitting on all 8, with no losses. I have my fingers crossed.

Is black hats back?
