Ferrum 37,Bridgewater 34 Final

Congrats to Ferrum.

How do you loose a game when you are up 29 to 6 starting the 4th quarter and loose it 36 to 34 and no overtimes? I think it 's called untimely penalties and interceptions! Congrats to E & H ! You guys did not quit!  :-[

Question....

The front page scoreboard has CNU and Salisbury tied at 21 in third OT.

The CNU Livestats has CNU leading 13-10 with 0:04 left in the game and Salisbury ball.

Who won?

CNU85

Live stats also has a Ferrum player making the last tackle.

CNU won in triple OT 27-21. Wait until the stats come out.....wow. Backup to Tunde Ogun gains 168 yds - Corey Legister. CNU ran 87 plays....70 rushes for almost 300 yds. Total domination of SU except on the scoreboard. SU is very opportunistic and they play hard and never give up. CNU was a totally different team today. QB for CNU, Long, was hurt in OT. Third string QB (not sure where #7 was) came in and completed the win. He has a canon for an arm.....wow can he zip it!

Congrats on a nice win for CNU today!  :)

Defense gets the game ball.

Congrats to CNU but man it was way too close. We moved the ball very well and just could not finish drives. 3 or 4 blown 4th and 1 conversions. 1 fumble inside the 10. One interception in the red zone. Two missed field goals. Other than that we played well. ha.

Seriously though. Offense finally got the running game going. Legister looked great and Long was effective running as usual. Ogun didn't see much time and after fumbling on one of his few plays, didn't see another down. Oh and the QB who filled in for Long? way to step up. Comes in at the end of overtime for an injured Matt Long, faces 3rd and about 20 and casually zips a pinpoint laser beam strike to a CNU receiver for a first down to save the day. wow.

Defense!!!!! Way to play. Aside from one blown play in the 1st qtr which led to a Salisbury TD, they looked good. Finally stopped that mean option attack that salisbury has always had. Only allowed one TD drive in the 1st 4 qtrs. The 2nd TD was a gift thanks to the offense turning the ball over inside our own red zone.

Sad for Salisbury, looks like their season may be over after 3 weeks. 2 losses for a pool B team is like the kiss of death for making the playoffs.

KEEPING IT REAL

Just to keep it real.  Nice game.  Was well worth the drive.  Number 40 looks like a linebacker running the ball.  He is good between the tackles but is slow on the outside.  Would have like to see Ogun more, but I understand there was a injury involved in his time.  They ran no. 8 to much.  I have never seen a quaterback take so many hits that you know it was going to come.  No. 19 is the real deal.  A pocket passer with a arm, and he has height.  If CNU can get a passing game with their run game, it could be something to see.

Au 28 Guilford 3 final
First, congratulations to the Cougars.  Believe it or not, Guilford's defense was not the real issue.  Guilford muffed three punt returns that put AU deep in their territory - add an interception and an ineffective offense and there's your ballgame.  Second, I will say that most coaches would have taken a knee rather than punch it in from the one with 24 seconds to go, but AU's chose otherwise.  It's the kind of thing that opposing coaches remember when (not if) the shoe's on the other foot.  Third, AUOP, I hope you found the stadium, a restaurant and a hotel with ease.  Fourth, I think it may be a long season in Quakerland.  :)  Good luck to Averett the rest of the season!  Peace

Hasanova, didnt make the trip, both wife and I came down with colds and just were not up to the drive. Caught the game on the web feed. Lap top hooked up to wide screen, worked pretty good.

Have to take my hat off to the Quaker D. Had they not played as hard nose as they did early game could have easily gotten out of control in the first half. To be honest at half I thought AU might have blown this one. Only coming away with 7 points with all the chances given, didnt look promising. Few big plays in the 2nd half and they were finally able to pull away. Know what you are saying about the last td but maybe that one might have been out of frustration from being shut down earlier after 4 shots at it from similiar distance, but if shoe was on other foot I'd be wondering as well. Do have a question. Were there really that many penalties or were the officials just flag happy. I havnt seen the stats yet but if AU doesnt have close to 200 yards in penalties I will be shocked,  I have never seen that many flags thrown, especially in the 2nd half. Seemed like there was an AU penalty every other play. Really hoping the refs didnt know what they were looking at.....like on that last muffed punt. If a Quaker touched it, I'll eat my laptop.

Take Care,
