Just teasing, musupporter.  Trust me, it's happened to me!  This is what happens when your own team is 1-4 ... you have to find something to keep you entertained!  :)  Good luck to the Monarchs.

It is great that there is still some humor to be found.  I know many of us are having a hard time with the way our seasons are going.  But it looks like every team is starting to improve to a point where the games are worth watching.  You know, it just feels better to stay positive.  I can't believe I went down that dark road in earlier posts.  Frustration is a bear to handle.

Good news for all the MU fans though.  I believe our Monarchs have found a little intensity and desire.  Win or lose, I think we may be in for some good football.  Tough teams coming up on the schedule.

Congrats to AU.  Finding a way to get  it done.

Proud Fighting Scot - I'll agree that MU's Travis Murphy looked very good and with a little seasoning may provide some more dynamics to the offense. That said Teague is a fighter and when he was on, he was pretty good. Just wasn't on very often Saturday. Did notice that the Scots played more on pressuring Murphy in OT, which looked to be more effective than it was with Teague.
Thought Chris Shelton did fairly well filling in for Tim Conner when he was knocked out of game. Throwing his first collegiate touchdown pass in first OT, not too shabby.

I'm hoping to see some zoomed in enhancement of the webcast video regarding that onside kick with 2 minutes left in regulation. Unless its one of the angle of vision things it certainly looked like the ball was belly bumped forward after 8 yards to get it to 10 where it was fallen on. But then again on an onside kick the players need to fight for ball not depend on official to see what they do.

The Meat and TATEr package - the wildcat with Darrell Tate - certainly looked like more than a novely. Besides the game winner I think it was almost a quarter of MC's offense between Tate's totes and the other plays run from the package.

Final note check the NCAA stats for third down conversion defense, Scots are No. 2 in the country (8 of 48). Cal Luthern No. 1 at 6 for 38.

Do we have the pick ums results?...Not a lot to say about Ferrum this week. I missed the game as I was having my gall bladder removed. Got back to my hospital room from surgery in time to see the live stats and watch Ferrum burn its last timeout...
All of the help with the address for the stadium was appreciated, but did not get to make use of it....maybe next year,...uh year after next I mean!
BEWARE THE BLACK HATS!

There were a couple questionable calls on both sides in Saturdays game.  I was about 15 yards from the action on the onsides kick and from that angle I can't say one way or the other.  Murphy did a great job considering it was his first action and alot of pressure.  Teague is still my guy and many of us wonder what the outcome would have been if he hadn't pulled his hamstring.  Murphy's youth showed in the final overtime.  He was a little quick to try and run when maybe dropping back and looking would have been a better option.  But you know what?  He got us there and played like a champ.  Kid has a future.

For everyone wondering about Scales.  He suffered a tremendous personal lose less than 2 weeks ago and I am sure he has alot on his mind.  He will return to his early form soon.  Everybody should keep him in their prayers.

I'll agree with you on that. That kind of personal loss is hard anytime but especially at that age.

Won't disagree about both teams getting some favors from officials either. I'd like to see some consistency on calls in regards to what a receiver can do and what a corner can do. Seemed to change quarter by quarter with that crew.

It looked like Murphy did well in regulation but had trouble picking up the blitz package in OTs. He's definitely got talent and some quickness. Once he learns to look up a little more when he's scrambling he could be really good. From what I saw of the MU  opener and I just scrolled quickly through first half, it looked like Teague had one of those "on" days he's capable of. If he was that way every snap ....

So what's the biggest surprise of the year?
1) Greensboro's improvement at 2-2 under new coach
2) Ogun's season so far.
3) That Maryville leads conf in offense.
OR
4) That the conf seems dead set on OT games this year.

Its not a poll because its meaningless without everyone's why's

1)  Not a surprise.  Greensboro has a great pool to get players from and always have talent.  Maybe the new coach is what they needed.
2)  Not up to speed on who Ogun is.  Guess I missed him the last 2 years.  According to his support group, it must be a surprise he has produced little.  Earlier post indicate he is hurt.  If he is hurt that bad, maybe sitting out and recovering is his best option.
3)  Not a surprise.  Good upperclassmen leading their offense.  Same boat as MU at times.  Score doesn't reflect the big numbers.
4)  Surprise, surprise, surprise.....What is the record for OT games in a conference in a single year?

coachmilburn

Maryville, TN travels to Winchester to take on the Shenandoah Hornets on Saturday, who wins and why?

SU won everything vs. CNU last weekend but the points on the scoreboard.  I was surprised to see them pass right from the get-go after CNU kicked the FG.  The are making good strides, hopefully it'll result in getting a much needed win for the entire program.  Something must turn around quickly.  A big win Saturday just might propel the hornets into their 1st winning season since 2004 while averaging just 2 wins until 2008 when they got 3 in W column.

How much of an affect will the 8hr trip be on the Scots?  I sure would not want to make that trip to play a football game.  Will the Scots be traveling up on Friday?

ProudFightingScot

This game is going to be a tough, physical battle between the 2 teams.  MC has the chance to go 2-0 in the conference with a win and has never lost to Shenandoah since joining the conference in 2005.

The 7 hour trip won't affect the Fighting Scots because:
1)  They are use to long trips with the closest conference game being a 5 hour road trip.
2)  2-0 record at Shenandoah.

The team usually leaves Friday morning on the road trips and stops 1/2 way to work out usually at Virginia Tech when they make the road trips in Virginia.

Finally, the game will come down Shenandoah's #2 run offense with RB Keone Kyle averaging 134 yards per game vs. Maryville's #2 run defense with LB Kyle Chewning being just named as the USA-South Defensive Player of the Week and the 2008 conference Defensive Player of the Year.   MC's defense just held Methodist's RB Scales to 58 yards rushing last week who was leading the conference in rushing entering the MC game.
