Narch et al:  I have not figured out how Maryville really stacks up with the USASouth but I do know enough about the team and coaches to be pretty sure Methodist had best not assume the records tell the whole story.  It is Homecoming and a lot of young players have had nearly a year to figure out what it takes to win, and the coach sure knows....

papi - hill played at about 75% full strength on saturday - i think this is an injury that will linger for most of the remainder of the season - there were a couple of plays against cnu where he looked explosive but for the most part, he looked just ok - mcswain ran HARD, especially in the first half, and i have a feeling that he'll get 10-12 touches per game and hill will get 15-20 (instead of the 25-30 he was getting early) - both are special athletes with enough speed to make big plays - i think a little more of the load will fall on rocket and the wr's - if the wr's keep making plays for roncketti like they did saturday, the offense will be fine...you would have LOVED throwing to this group - they've got decent size, they can stretch the field, they run well after the catch and all of them catch the ball with their hands

scottiedoug - thanks for the info. - i don't think that the monarchs will take anyone lightly from here forward...too much at stake

i have confirmed with 100% certainty that it will be a coin flip to decide the championship if ferrum loses to cnu (and nobody else) and cnu wins out - i've been thinking about alternatives, and i think in the future the conference should consider using defensive points allowed in games involving the teams tied as the tie-breaker rather than a coin flip - using point spread encourages a team to run up the score, which is never good - using defensive points allowed would work...i don't know ANY defensive coach who says "let 'em score...we've got a 24 point lead with 3 minutes left, who cares" - in the case of a 3 way, the team with the lowest combined points allowed in the 2 games against the other teams gets the bid...it certainly seems less random than a coin flip

If memory serves me correctly you never congratulated us when we punished your Pride year after year. Nope we never hear from the proud Mosh then.

Finest you have the nerve to write that. How many times have you called the Hornets "the girls of SU" and were lucky for the wins in the past years over CNU. Never saying anything positive yourself. Bottom line is you are the most sore loser in the room.
Mosh's team beat the so called mighty Captains and had a reason to be happy for the teams win. He never made it personal until you shot your mouth off. Your the one calling him out to fight, saying he wouldn't have the guts to talk to you in person. If you act this immature in person why would anyone want to say anything to you.
None of us in here are truly innocent with all of the POSTS they have written over the years in here. We have all gone over the top at times and have been carried away cheering for the team that they like best. The public/private debate will go on for ever as long as CNU is in the USAC and most likely no one from CNU or the other private schools will agree on this. Mosh has been on this site for along time. I cant remember the last time he was in an argument with ANYONE in here. But you constantly complain, make things personal when someone writes something that you don't agree with. You are a sore loser and you have a lot of growing up to do.

cnusfinest - As a CNU alumnus and Captains football fan I am embarrassed by your behavior and I hope the rest of the board realizes that you are the exception and not the rule.

Jessie - Mosh's team is not MC.  It's one thing if an MC player came on here and gloated the win, but for a 3rd party guy to take jabs, is like kicking Michael Spinks after his 91 second knockout by Mike Tyson. He could have just posted what a great job MC did and congrats, etc......but he (like an old woman) came on here bringing up stuff that we have been reading about years ago.

I, like Papi, started to stay away from here because of the posts very similar to what Mosh has started. Then when someone fires back at him, he freaks. Then he posts totally irrelevent crap on here that we read through, hoping there is a point.

Here is one for ya - my school only had 1500 (10-12 grade- late 70's - so I'm old). We didn't have cuts. If you could survive the 2 a days, you were on the team. The result: a few state championships over the years, several D1 scholarships, and a few NFL players.  And I wasn't on the team. I worked out one year and realized I was gonna get killed!! My first year in HS our football team played 10 games - 6 against top 10 ranked schools in Virginia. The year after I left (or maybe 2 yrs) they went to Cincinnati and played National #1 ranked Mueller coached by Gerry Faust - who went on to coach Notre Dame. My HS lost 10-0 (I think - maybe 10-7). My point? I have none - just throwing crap out there. Sounds good. Maybe I should write a book. I'll call it Moshisms.

Maybe it's time for me to hibernate again and let the board die down (or come back when Mosh's period is over).

TC - heavy stuff after working all day. I'll re-read it in the morning. Brain is shot at 4:40.

2 usasac schools among the top 5 in region according to pat cummings in around the region...first time i can remember the monarchs being one of them...don't let up boys...gotta go 3-0 from here out and see what happens - does anyone think my tie-break suggestion has merit? does anyone care? c'mon, i'm trying really hard to get us back to talking football

Narch,

congrats on the top 5....and to Ferrum.

As far as your tie breaker idea......nope, don't like it. It rewards good defensive teams, but doesn't take into account the offense. What if a team plays some really tough competition, wins a few games, but has to shoot thelights out to win? They get penalized in your suggestion. I like the quality of wins scenario. Although it reminds me of the old High School Power rankings in Va. I remember my school beating the mighty Hampton Crabbers, finish with the same conference record, and sitting home because Hampton had a higher power rating. Thus, Va came up with divisions within each level (division 5 and 6 for AAA).

how about a round robin contest with the same rules as Overtime? All on the same field at the same time.....not sure how it would work...but at least it would be decided on the field!!

cnusfinest54

Uncle Jessie first of all get your facts straight. Losing a game by 4 where your team had every oppourtunity to score 2 or 3 more TD's to put the game completely out of hand is another thing.  In Mosh's case we beat them easily every year so he has no room to say anything about the Captains. Personally I don't like some SU fans on here because they gloat year in and year out as if they were the best thing since sliced bread. Like I said the only thing they have done in the last few years is squeak out a few wins against the Captains.

TCheadhunter I hear you and I understand where you are coming from. I never said anything  bad about the Monarchs and their upset of CNU. They put up 35 points in the first half and we eventually lost by 7. Bottom line is that game could have been worse but our boys fought back like champs to try and win.  Narch didn't get on here and start bosting that MC was the next Mount Union world beaters because they beat CNU. A few CNU fans made their views of the game clear and each other went back and forth. But then out of the blue, here comes a haymaker from Mosh.

I worked my a$$ of at CNU to become a good player just like everyone else. Their loss is my loss and I wanted badly for them to go undefeated in the Conference.  Mosh has fired more than enough shots at the Captains over the years for no reason. He talks so much about what he has learned as a Gboro player yada yada yada. But where you there my freshmen year when the Pride where laughing, goofing around, and taking TEAM PICTURES in 01 before the game. I was on 0-3 freshmen and they thought we were a joke. Sorry, 4 years later and we really found out who the joke was on. Then through all of his public-private post, 757 is loaded with talent, and so on and so on he decides to take yet another punch at MY TEAM.  Im sorry but Im not having it. If he is jealous that he was not a Captain, then say so and we will be finished but if he continues to throw jabs that he can't back up. Then I will continue to call him a scrub and like I said it hurts so much because its TRUE.

Come on guys...why can't we all just get aLONG....neck ;)   Seriously guys, hug, kiss, buy each other a beer...do whatever it is but can we drop this!

Congrats to Methodist on the top 5.  Rocket you are playing you butt off...keep it up bud!
Narch, it seems like I would have loved to play in the new system.  Looks like Coach Sy has finally gone away from his feeling that if he throws the ball more than 15 times he is probably going to lose.  The three yard and a cloud of dust days have finally died.
Speaking of that, is it just me or has the USASAC learned how to put points on the board this year.  What is everyone's opinion on this?  Is because a lack of defense, better offensive schemes, or better offensive players?  Just seems like until recently scores where generally in the teens now teams are regularly hitting 30 or 40.
Any fool can circumnavigate the world sober...it takes a real sailor to do it drunk!!!

Giggdy Giggdy Alright.  :o :o

Can't speak for the rest of the teams but in CNU's case I will say this.

CNU O/ Have not put up enough points against good teams. The points against lesser talented teams don't count in my book.

CNU D/ 600 yards against Rowan, 40 plus at HOME against Salisbury, 35 in the first half against Methodist. Not the D that I know and the rest of our fans have become to love.

The talent is there but its time for the new guys to put up or shut up.

WIN OUT CAPTAINS AND LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY
