insideslant/d - thanks for reminding me that i hadn't congratulated m'ville for a hard fought game...that might be the best 1-7 team in the country, and i don't just say it because of the way they played mc - they've only been blown out of 1 game (cnu) and they've played especially tough at home

i saw that scott swann for au played some today...congrats to him for working his way back - i'd be surprised if the au coaching staff turned to him as the starter with the way parsons has played, but i'm glad to see swann back on the field in any capacity - he's a gutty player

rocket is just 32 yards from setting the mc single season passing record - he is also closing in on the career rushing td record (although he'll probably need a playoff game to get that...he's 7 behind right now) and has moved into the top 4 in rushing yardage and remains #2 all time in passing yardage - he's had quite a career and i hope that he has enough magic left to win at least 2 more games with the monarchs (winning another 7 would be great...but that's a long shot :))

it looks like both cnu and ncwc have the run defenses amped up for the upcoming games against fc - cnu held williams to 29 yards on 12 carries and ncwc held cnu to 100 yards on 39 carries - now we just need monsoon conditions in rocky mount this weekend and in ferrum next weekend :) - what an impressive showing for the panthers today...they're going to be tough to beat, but the captains really want that 5th straight co-championship and the bishops want to have a 2nd straight .500 season - c'mon guys, let's make it happen - oh yeah, monarchs...gc is on the clock...tick, tock

The evil and vile Panthers will get smitted before it over. The Rocket must be showcase nationally so Army (West Point) knows what they lost. Beoch made punks

Ferrum is going to roll until they actually play someone in the top 25.   Before today, Massey ranked them 52nd in the country (by the true Massey ratings, not the bogus BCS-style ratings).  Ferrum's opponents to date:

Guilford - 155th
E&H - 192nd
Chowan - 146th D2 (of 148!)
Shenandoah - 164th
Averett - 115th
Maryville - 179th
Methodist - 75th
Greensboro - 184th

Pretty impressive to go 8-0 against that bunch.   ???

and btw
NC Wesleyan - 135th
Christopher Newport - 91st

so it's highly likely Ferrum will go 10-0 before encountering reality in the playoffs.

Massey rates Ferrum's schedule as the 182nd most difficult  ... out of 219, and 210-219 are the NESCAC teams who don't play out of conference.

[modified to put "Ferrum" in the last para instead of "Chowan" .. d'oh!]

Thanks narch. I almost forgot what it was like to have a newborn in the house, especially with my 2-year old and how self contained she is. She's so easy, you dont have to do much for her, she does it on her own and then to go back and have this needy lil baby, it was like culture shock!!  But its good, she's a good baby, I cant complain.

Yeah, man, it's a shock. Good luck. :)

fayetteville observer game story - nothing earth shattering, but a few quotes from coach sy

Ron, Who do you see Ferrum playing in the 1st round?

Jamnqb10

Yep Ron You are right.  Like a said on my very first post, This USA conference is a little weak this season.  How else could FC be Dominating.  But thats OK, our conference is going to be well respected in the upcoming years.  I predict a Stagg Bowl winner from this conference within the next five years.  I hope the Black Hats are not looking past this weekend.  Davis and company should have them ready for battle on the 12th.  BTW, What kind of passing attack does CNU have?  I have not seen them play!

tcheadhunter

Jamnqb10 - CNU is averaging 231 passing yards per game. CNU's passing game has really stepped up in the last 3 games (due to a healthy Philip Jones) passing for 397, 356 and 289 with 7 passing touchdowns over those 3 games.

At this rate, whomever ends up being the #7 seed.  I do hope the committee comes to their senses and eliminates FC's unreasonably high regional ranking.

Still to much football to play in the USASAC to go ahead and give FC the auto. bid

Narch, I can't believe my eyes...Coach Sy is going to the air more and more...I'm jealous ;)
Rocket is having one heck of a season...right now I don't know how he wouldn't be the poty

I will be in Rocky Mount Friday and Saturday and looking for restaraunt recommendations.   Any exceptional places in the area?

narch

ham's...and be sure to get the homemade potatoe chips...you won't regret it

I heard that Fords Colony has opened a restaurant in Rocky Mount. The Fords Colony restaurant in Williamsburg VA is amazing. Its gourmet cuisine and a little pricey ($25-$40 per entree) but well worth it. If you are looking for something nice this might be an option.

While in Rocky Mount you have to eat some Carolina BBQ. There was a place called B's BBQ near Pitt County Hospital.

Tx Mike,

If you are going to be in Rocky Mount Friday you should come check out the Northern Nash Rocky Mount Game...Stands will be filled.  Im guessing your going to watch NCWES play?   I think wes plays at rocky mounts stadium...Anyways, even though I live here, I really have no clue about the area or I would hook you up with that info...
