Go Capts. 1 down 2 to go before we share another title.

Thats what the public kids like to do Narch. Unlike the rich kids that go to private schools, we public kids like to share the wealth.  ;D

Why are there so many FC   bashers out there? They are looking pretty good and while they are not in the playoffs yet, I think that you (the bashers) need to at least respect the record. If it was a team that was expected to be at the top of the USASC, (FC was predicted to finish fifth) this would be more digestable for you.
I wont speak of their chances in the playoffs, and yes the USASC is not the top conference, but 8-0 is pretty good, (dont think you can do much better than that) lets see how the regular season plays out.

I know not everyone is anti FC, and am greatful to see the complimentary postings.

This ain't no western....just because they wear black, does not make them the bad guys.

Go PANTHERS!!!

Yeah and us private school kids spend the 10 years after graduation living off hot dogs and ramen noodles trying to pay off those student loans.  ;D

Allen C...even though there are a few I don't think there has been much FC bashng on this board.  Granted since many of us are either Monarch or Captain fans we want to see FC lose a game to put our teams back in the first place hunt.  But I think we all can respect what the Panthers have done to this point in the season.
Any fool can circumnavigate the world sober...it takes a real sailor to do it drunk!!!

allen - papi hit it on the head...we want OUR favorite team to win, not YOUR favorite team - let's not go overboard with ferrum's 8-0 record, though...if the monarchs had played chowan instead of salisbury and had mike hill been available for the fc game, they would probably be 8-0 instead of the panthers - whichever team gets the usasac aq will get the undivided support of the conference, though

mosh - what's the nnhs record now?

finest - i'm sure the monarchs will GLADLY share the usasac title with the captains this year, particularly since the  monarchs own the tie-break vs. the capts :) - i'd prefer them not share the title with ferrum (because ferrum owns the tie-break with mc)...us private schoolers share the wealth when it's beneficial to us :)

Allen C people have little respect for FC right now because they do not have a signature win yet. I can't be mad, they are winning the games on their schedule and I respect that but I honestly don't think that they are the number 2 team in the region either. All I am going to say is that only time will tell but I am not so worried about them going undefeated like most others. CNU will be coming to town soon enough and we will return the favor for our 03 loss and possible lock for a #1 seed in the playoffs that year.  ;D  ;)

Nobody is "busting on" FC. I played them probably before you were born. (mid 70's). If you played against someone you have the right to talk a little trash. I just remember them when they were "mad dog mean". We literallly got into fights up at Lees-McRae with them before the game. Well once anyway. I'll pull for FC after the Monarchs have no chance. I know the staff there and they are good guys.

It's just disappoints me not to see Rocket out there nationally.
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

Narch,
Northern Nash is 5-4 for playoff possibility and 5-5 with the endowement game.  We lost one in overtime, and a few by less then a td... I think we will present a problem for some teams with matchups in the playoffs...We have alot of offensive schemes.

Prediction, Ferrum goes und in the Usac

narch

mosh - good luck to your boys in the playoffs - i'm not a huge fan of the new diluted playoff system, but it does give a lot of kids a chance to play playoff football

i hope you're wrong about ferrum  ;)

Allen - Any team that goes 8-0 in any division (I, II or III) deserves respect. No doubt about it. The problem is unlike Division I football where there are currently 5 teams undefeated in the top 25 [all ranked in the top 8] there are currently 11 ranked teams with undefeated records in the D3 top 25.

Although I do not know the exact stats I would venture to say that there are probably 2 to 3 times as many undefeated teams in D3 than in D1. I am not basing this on anything more that my limited observation. I am not trivializing your accomplishements but I would GUESS that its more common for a team to go undefeated due the large number of weak D3 programs out there. You can't argue with the fact that Ferrum has only beat 2 teams with winning records. All 8 opponents are a combined 20-44 and 4 of those teams have only 1 win. But again I do respect the 8-0 but it's all relative to the teams you beat.

Well, could it also be due the fact there are approximately twice as many DIII football teams as there are DI football teams?  I think it is 231 to 117 (or is it 119?).  Statistically, there should be about twice as many undefeated teams in DIII and it should be twice as hard to crack the DIII Top 25!

tcheadhunter

Exactly my point! Although an undefeated season is still something to be proud of there are many more undefeated programs in D3 and they are not all worthy of the top 25 or a regional ranking of 2. However I still have a lot of respect for the Ferrum players and coaches and I wish them continued success but I hope CNU whoops them  ;D

Wow Lots of responses. I have to admit I understand your wanting your team to win. I guess I am nearly the only Ferrum supporter on the board. I appreciate the feedback, and have to admit I am not taking anything for granted. I know on any given day, any team can beat another. I am just hoping for Ferrum to get to the playoffs. I dont understand how this conference sent 2 teams to the playoffs last year, but only one will go this year no matter what. Could someone enlighten me?

abnrgr- Well I am a little older that you may think, but if you played against FC back then, you saw FC in its finest football years...statistically, maybe not sportsmanship wise. ;)
From 1968-1977, FC won 4 NJCAA national titles, and was national runner up once.
I was at FC from 78-82, but never played. (was the equipment manager one year.) Just a fan now, and would love to see the Panthers get back to a winning stature.

Anyone smell an upset this week in Danville? I would not count out the Cougars in this one coming up.

I will be at the FC/ CNU game It should be a wild one.

Whats up with NCW... are they a bigger threat than I am thinking? I would have thought that GC would have been tougher against FC. CNU 21-3 over NCW. I did not get to listen to the game. Is their (NCW) defense better than GC?
What do the Battling Bishops have to offer?

abnngr - did Lees-McRae drop football when they went to 4-year status?  I never hear anything from the Bobcats anymore except in other sports.  I believe they are now in the NCAA DII Carolinas-Virginia Conference.

I'm with you.  I am an Old Black hat from the 80's.  I am very excited about the 8-0- record, but I am very concerned about CNU.  They have a much bigger pool of players to choose from.  Who wants to live in the mountains if you can be a day student, live at home, play at a new facility, and play football at the college level.  They are full of talent and it is always a battle.  But they play up in GOD's country this year!   BTW has anyone heard the rumor about CNU going DII in a few years?

Allen, Do you stay in touch with any of the coaching staff?
