Pres. Trible has made it clear (on more than one occasion) that he has no intentions of moving the football program to Division II as long as he is there. He is a young guy who doesn't look like he is going any where. Trible is a Hampden Sydney alumn (rich private school guy for all of you public school haters)

and he supposedly loves small school football. I would like to see the Captains win a national championship first (or at least compete in one) but the scholarship money would be nice.

Dont guess they could go DII in the next week could they???

I saw Coach Norton at homecoming in '02, my 20 yr reunion, but have had no contact with any of them.

Glad they are playing at home. It seems that it has been disproportional as to when they played at Ferrum v Newport News. It seems the Panthers usually travel. Could that be because one year they played in the Oyster Bowl? Does anyone know if I am right. Has CNU ever travelled to FC?

Does Averett have a prayer against CNU this weekend?

I must have slept through the 2003 season... 3 of 4 years FC has travelled, but the caviot is that they (FC) was the home team in Hampton.

How young could President Trible be. I went to the U.S. Capitol in 1977 or 78, and he was a US Senator then. I would think he is in his late fifties or early sixties.

No they dropped football after playing at the NAIA level for a couple of years. I was a coach there as a matter of fact on the 93 team. We got pounded that year playing Elon and the Terriers laid the wood to us.

I left to go back to my real job and they went 6-4 the next year. I was getting ready for Homecoming in 1995 or 6 and got a flyer in the mail about the (gag) Soccer game at Homecoming. That's how I found out that football was dropped. The administration (it was rumored) said it was not worth the extra 100 students of dubious backgrounds. IE: Street kids like me. Now they are mostly more affluent students going there. I hear you have to read and write too!

If I win the lotto they will have football again at the DII level with Narch as my Public info officer, MOSH and MC55 as position coaches and I will be in the stands checking out the drunks from BC.

Just joking BC.

ABNRGR....oooh oooh...can I be the trainer. I want to be able to tell some kid with broke tibia to tape it up and get back in there or a kid with one eye hanging out that he still has another one. After the game I can treat all injuries like they do in the military...give'em a bottle of 800mg motrin and some ice!

Allen - I think 59 is young. Youth is relative. Let's put it this way - I don't think he's retiring any time soon. He was a public servant from 1976-1989 (House and Senate).
