Points allowed?? Then everyone would go for the blow out win and run the score up. Who knows.

actually, goose, i proposed this earlier - i don't think points allowed would encourage running up the score like point differential would, especially if you used only the games involving the teams who are tied...there is no way of knowing ahead of time which teams will be tied, and i've never known a defensive coach who was happy with his defense giving up points, even in a blowout game - it's not perfect, but it takes the random nature out of the coin toss scenario - if the monarchs win out then ncwc and cnu can make this a completely moot point by taking down the panthers

papi - contemplating a trip to g'boro...my in-laws live in graham and i might be able to convince the better half to make a visit while i go to the game...it's a long-shot, but i'm considering making the trip

ABNRGR....EC has laid the wood to everyone this year...closest game this year I think was around 30 points (amazing what a new coach will do)...There are a couple of kids on that team that I'm hoping to convince to head to Fayetteville.  Great athletes but probably a little to small for D1 or D1aa.  Of course it was an OLB...Narch you hear that...it was RGR's fault that I had that blazing 8.8 40 speed at MC. 

Narch you are a die-hard fan....willing to spend a weekend w/ the inlaws just to check out a Monarch game...Now that's team dedication!

early predictions this week

m'ville 17 - su 13 - i wanted to pick the hornets here, being that this is the last home game of the year, it's sr day, etc., but after last weeks debacle, i can't - it wouldn't shock me if this score was simply flip-flopped, though

cnu 38 - au 27 - cnu can be hurt by the pass and au can throw it, but the cougar defense won't slow the captain offense enough to pull the upset

fc 41 - ncwc 35 - last week i picked gc in an upset and it backfired...in a BIG WAY, so this week i'm picking fc to win and hoping this pick backfires in any way (big or small) - this will be a tough test for the panthers - williams is a stud and he'll really test the panther defense which finally showed up last week - ncwc is more than just williams, though - they've got some balance and play solid defense - ultimately, though, fc showed last week that they are ready to play and hungry for the next step...

mc 33 - gc 24 - gc is not without talent...they just seem to find a way to beat themselves as much as other teams beat them - torey lowe is a tough matchup for any defense with his versatility and the gc defense is better than they get credit for (and better than they were last week) - the monarchs CAN'T overlook this team, because if they do, gc will win this game

papi - you touch on an interesting point - i don't think the monarchs have played a complete game yet this season -
- against ssu they had a great 1st half...really bad 2nd
- against gcq they allowed the quackers to make it a game late
- ehc made a push in the 2nd quarter
- ncwc controlled most of the 1st half
- au...we know what happened there
- fc...monarchs didn't get off the bus until ferrum had scored 20
-cnu...lights out in the 1st half, esp 2nd quarter...then nothing

i'd like to see 8 solid quarters of football to end the regular season

85...I don't mind if MC sucks for the next 8 quarters...just as long as GC and SU suck just a little bit worse....and for the first time in my life (and probably the last) I will be cheering my butt off for the Captains.

Narch...you're right...it seems like if MC could ever put together 4 complete quarters they could really accomplish something.  Lately they kind of remind me of Tom Glavine when he was with the Braves...if he could make it through the 1st inning then he was ok!

I have begun my prep fires for the Air Force Army game. SInce I hate West Pointers I always pull for the Falcons but this game  gives me special reason. Army did not give Rocket a chance to play so as an SAS officer once said to me "bugger the lot of them mate". This after he punched a Kiwi and then urinated on him. Ahhh the old days.......

Narch...ABNRGR's comment about West Point got me thinking... which military academy is Coach Sy gonna steal his QB from next year.  I transferred to MC from USCGA and Rocket transferred from USMA...I guess he'll have to try Navy or Air Force...ABNRGR...check out to see if there is a disgruntled backups in Colorado Springs who wants come to MC next year!
