admiral,
My stepbrother played football for kings point.  I might be wrong about them having the toughest plebe cycle.  But from what I heard (because of the two years they have to do out at sea) they have a very rough first two years and the last two are in the ocean...but they do come out making a boat load of money...If you can take being out at sea for four mo you can enjoy 90 grand a year right out of school...  Anyways I know, how the army/navy/ airforce/ coast cuard thing goes.  So the only rivalry I am looking at is the Monarch Pride game..

Narch,  if you get the L you should have to take that line off the bottom of your post

I've talk to Pres. Trible at times in the past and I think his feelings on the ideal of moving up to DII, he's against it.  He's just comfortable competeting athletically at the D3 level. His focus and overall agenda is concentrated else where besides athletics.  On Chowan I think their thinking is, they could be more competive with scholarship  players at the D2 level, that's why the move is important for them.  Besides CNU has one of the best overall atheletic facilities on the east coast.  Averett Univ. ranks up there too.

My thinking was the same on the game between CNU - AU.  That's why I waited towards the end of the week to post my comments.  CNU is very much award of the demands of this game and the one against Ferrum, which they both present a complicated measure for the young capatins. The way the young captains close out this regular season and hope for a playoff bid, will make the young captains a much stronger force to reckon with in the future. Look out USA South

mosh - even if the monarchs lose, there is still no disputing the fact the mc IS the best d3 program in the state (admittedly, that's not saying much...but it's something :)) and the monarchs will still OWN gc

papi - i heard that coach eavenson was in annapolis at navy prep scouting a 6'2", 200 lb qb who runs a 4.6 and has a rifle for an arm :)

hasanova - i don't think chowan had accreditation problems, but i think they decided it would be easier to lure kids to murfreesboro with athletic money (even though they probably aren't giving much more $$$...just calling what they used to give as need-based money an athletic scholly) - that place is a TOUGH sell, even with scholarships - athletically, they would have been better off remaining a juco

i, for one, hope cnu stays d3 forever (i just wish cnu fans would acknowledge the inherent benefits of being a public school in a private school conference, but we don't need to go there :)) - i think they've really elevated the level of play in this conference in football and even basketball and some other sports, much the same way that mc elevated the level of play in soccer, golf, tennis and baseball - most coaches are pretty proud and have a will to win...they're only going to get their brains beat in for so long before they decide that they need to get better, and i think we're seeing that in football - fc, mc and au are better than they've ever been, in large part because they want to compete with the captains and the captains have shown that it's possible to compete on a national level

go captains!
go bishops!!
GO MONARCHS!!!!

Narch and Papi
Good luck tommorrow. I'll be pulling for you; however, I may not be able to speak english by 1400 tommorrow. I got a couple animals for Coach Sy to look at. One is a hat bringer and his dad is a NC state resident. How bout dat.  :)Less money.

Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

narch

abnrgr - i've read a couple of your posts written in beer-ese...they're interesting :o...be sure to get on here saturday evening to congratulate the monarchs and the bishops in your own special way :)!

hasanova

narch - Yes, I can see why Chowan is a tough sell and I agree, they probably would have been better off athletically to stay a JC.  The only DII conference I know in this area is the Carolinas/Virginia and they don't have football.  Who is Chowan going to play?

Ralph Turner

hasanova, IMHO, Chowan will fill the open dates for the D3's.  They will be very beatable, if they cannot get into a conference.

I am disappointed that Chowan could not get it together in its attempts to join the USASAC.  D3 athletics is going to the conference-model.  An independent has a very tough time.

Good Luck Panthers!  Leave no Doubt!!!

hasanova

Ralph - Yes, I know.  Guilford was an independent after the old Carolinas Conference teams reorganized as the SAC8 and before joining the ODAC.  It was tough for scheduling, recruiting and to build rivalries.  I can see why small colleges just about have to be in a conference to have a viable program.

I agree jamnqb! Their future is in their own hands....It should be a good game. I dont have the ability to listen to the webcast, but I will be checking the message board regularly. I hope someone posts the scores.

If Ferrum and MC win, and CNU somehow loses to Averett, would this automatically give FC the conference crown? I would not bet on CNU losing, but would not bet against it either.
BEWARE THE BLACK HATS!
