A fairly big announcement from Greensboro today as Guilford College alumnus and former Reidsville (NC) HS coach Jimmy Teague has joined the Pride as Offensive Coordinator.  Teague was very successful with the Reidsville Rams, going 198-40 in 17 seasons and winning four state championships (2002, '03, '07 and '08).  This will set up some interesting match-ups when Greensboro and Teague face Methodist, whose QB is Teague's son Erik, although the coach already says his wife will be pulling for MU.  lol

Under Teague, the RHS Rams have always hade a high-powered offense, regularly scoring 40-60 points per game.  The Pride were an anemic 14.5 ppg last season, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

'nova - i should have known you'd beat me to that announcement, what with the reidsville/guilford connection - here is the link to the full story on the gc website - this is a great hire for gc - coach teague is really well respected and will lend credibility to that coaching staff - by all accounts he's a better person than coach (although i've never personally met him, i know many who have) - kinda makes me dislike gc a little less (just a little, though :))

...and sorry to let you guys down on the grammar stuff a page back...looks like you handled it well without me :)

Good afternoon, narch.  I read the story in this morning's Greensboro News & Record and figured d3football.com would post it later in the day (it's up).  To be honest with you, I knew more about Coach Teague as a successful HS coach and MU's Erik's father than I did the Guilford connection.  It's a good hire for GCP ... when he "retired" from RHS, I figured he wasn't ready, at age 50, to give up football completely.  If he opens the offense up as much at Greensboro as he did at Reidsville, the Pride will score a lot more ... of course, you've also got to have the athletes to make it happen!

Grammatically and athletically, we always know you've got our back!  lol

I like the hire.  I don't know how much more you can open that offense up though.  I think you try to get the pride offense more balanced to make it more effective.

Did anyone see the story about the nfl brains?  I was thinking about donating mine to see what a college athletes looks like.

I'm sure we will see 4 or 5 players from Reidsville on the roster next year.

they could have started by sending someone more than 4 yards down field on a passing play...they threw the ball around a lot last year, but they didn't stretch the field - a talent like torrey lowe shouldn't be relegated to 4 yard crossing patterns all day...he had 8 catches for 20 yards in the first half against mu - the two long pass plays against mu were short passes that turned into long plays when monarch defenders broke down (or fell down)

For the most part you need a running game that can threaten you and you also have to have a qb that can deliver a long ball accurately.

Didn't get a chance to see them play live so I couldn't tell you with much honesty if they had those things.

I would go back to the gimmick kirby days and use two slots and try to get some option fb going.  GC gets enough talent to run that offense.

Good Luck to Newport News native Mike Tomlin and the Steelers. Tomlin was offered a scholly to William and Mary by none other than CNU coach Kelchner.

Another local connection is Cardinals lineman Elton Brown from Hampton....sorry Elton, you are a Crabber so this Bruin is cheering for the Steelers!!

I played against Willie Parker when he was at Clinton...he was probably the second best running back on his team in high school.
Any fool can circumnavigate the world sober...it takes a real sailor to do it drunk!!!

He didn't play much in college either. Who was the #1 guy at Clinton? Where did he end up?
