Agreed, no one is going to be surprised by Ogun this year.

Got any details on any other aspect of the team? Can you fill in any of the question marks on defense or is Long going to be reprising his role at QB or back at his original position? Unless there is some surprise in the CNU ranks, I could see the AQ slipping away from them this year.

Expecting 90 or so returning players. Never know until August. Over 40 have significant playing time. Not sure of any new potential recruits, but they always have some nice surprises. Long should be the QB, but Gaines now has a year under his belt. Other than that I don't know a thing.

I have to believe that Ferrum could be well positioned to take the AQ spot, but Ogun will need to be dealt with...by that I mean keeping him under 175 yards. also, those pesky Battling Bishops will contend.

The Panthers will rank somewhere in the middle as far as damage done by graduation, but overall should be solid.  They have a new transfer running back named Justin Donnelly from Division II Shepherd University, but I know nothing about him. I was told by an anonymous post on my blog that he is impressive, but that's all I know. Wish we could get a defensive secondary transfer, or a pass rusher extraordinaire.

This is very sobering news.

The affiliation of the GSAC-Men may be what saves the USA South.

Thank You to all who have served or are currently serving to protect the freedoms that we all enjoy.

Good hearing from you Highlander and hope you are ready for the Fighting Scots this season.  Graduating 24 seniors from '08 will make '09 an interesting season.  However the offense is returning Hightower at RB and Idlette at WR who are All-Conference caliber players.  Hunt and Conner come back at QB.  USA-South Defensive POY Kyle Chewning comes back for his senior season.

Big losses on the offensive and defensive lines.

I'm checking on some info about Media Day that has really gotten the MC crowd pretty upset.  I'll report it when I get all the facts...

CNU85,

Hope you are having a good summer. Was over by the campus this past weekend (first time since the game last fall) and see they still haven't finished the construction on Warwick. Are they trying to make that project last as long as the 64 project from Mercury to Jefferson. I need a front end alignment now.

What will you guys look like this year. I know you have the running back coming back, but how about the "D" and "O" line?

blitzer1

Just graduated this year from Maryville and look forward to joining the weekly posts during the upcoming season.  Hope to meet Proudfightingscot and Highlander down the road.

I'll be on campus later this week so I'll find out about Media Day flap.  All I know is that the coaching staff was expecting Media Day to be at MC this year.

MC will be rebuilding this season with heavy losses due to graduation.  CNU will be strong again.  Ugun is the best RB I've lined up against in my 4 years at MC.  However, conference better watch out for Ferrum this season.

Having a blast. Hope you are, too. I think you will see pretty much the same team this year, which is not bad since they went undefeated in the conference. I'm sure Kelchner will have a few surprises for us - he always seems to come up with something. Not possible to know who will not return, but last I heard there were approx 90 returning players with 40+ who played quite a bit last year. Ogun will be good, The D has always been strong, plus CNU has added Bill Dee as a coach on the defensive side of the ball. I watched his Phoebus Phantoms over the years and I can assure you of one thing...CNU's D will be more aggressive. He's coached some of the best defenses ANY high school ANYWHERE has ever seen. I think last year his defense alone at Phoebus outscored his opponents. Ever hear of those Adibi boys that went on to Va Tech? Phoebus products. I'm actually looking forward to it......you'll see guys flying to the ball like never before at CNU - and they've been pretty good at it already!
