Just got back in from Danville and see others have commented on the AU game but just had to tip my hat to the AU defense, they were dominating in the 2nd half against W&L. Only allowed 38 yards passing, with 3 pics and gave up 0 yards rushing. Just a great effort.

I said it earlier, AU is flying under the radar! Watch out for them.

Another thought.  It would be easy for someone to try and put Saturdays loss on Teague.  But if you have never lined up behind center, you don't have a clue.  Teague is a gamer.  He scrapps for everything he gets.  He runs the plays given to him.  He doesn't call the plays.  4th and 1.  I want the ball in Teagues hands.  Teague has off days like anyone else.  But on any given Saturday, I'll take 11 Eric Teagues against your 11 and my chances are going to be good.
ditto...and he's a great kid and really bright, to boot...

First I want to say that Wilkes is not a very good team. Well just not 3-0 good. Were they better than CNU Saturday yep. But that isn't saying much. We handed the game to Wilkes. 3 turnovers all leading to points. 2 interceptions that were run back all the way. One was brought back out to the 30 due to a penalty but still it was sickening. And CNU, whats the deal with the unsportsmanlike conduct. Football is a game of emotions but you have to be able to control yourself. There is no excuse for losing your cool on the field. Anyway, we played like crap, got dumb penalties, didnt execute, turned the ball over way too many times and still after all that. We are still in the game some how. A good team wins by 21 from what I saw. Really sickening.

As for #23 Ogun? He played but didnt have much success. I don't know what the deal is, but I saw something different from him last season.

#19? He can throw the ball well (7-10). But there are clearly some wrinkles left to iron out. 2 picks that were easily avoidable. But that is what film on monday is for.

#7 ? Throw the ball on 4th down!!!!!! DONT TAKE THE SACK. He has good legs but relies on them too much. Leave that to the running backs.

There were some bright spots. But they were overshadowed by sloppy play. CNU the time is now. Shenandoah is next on the list. Conference play is here. How do you want to remember this season? It's time to put the foot down and bust some heads. How will you respond?

ogun2k  has misteriously disappeared. He was Ogun's uncle. He has not posted since he stated that Ogun had a torn ACL. Have a feeling he has reappeared as another poster!!!

Any thoughts on Ogun's injury?

cnu85, sounds like a pretty good but frustrating game for the captains.  From your and keeping it reals posts it sounds to me that wilkes did exactly what i told you they would from when i saw them play a couple of weeks ago.  they are not big or fast, but they stick to what they do well and take advantage of what the other team gives them.  did ogun play at all?  if not, what is the prognosis?  are they moving the other qb back to defense or is he still injured?  good luck in the conference.

Ogun was in the game. Still not seeing him at the level from last year. I have my opinions, but I'm keeping them to myself - cuz I don't really know. QB Long did not dress for the game. That's all I will say.

Crazylegs - 1 of the two picks on #19 was a tipped ball by a lineman. I'm not sure if that's a QB issue or an O-line issue. Although, there were a few tipped balls at the line....maybe a little more time in the pocket to find the passing lanes will help. I agree with your comment on #7 - 4th down and you're going for it....throw it down field and if it isn't completed you hope for a bonehead play by a defender who intercepts it instead of knocking it down. But don't take a sack and give Wilkes the ball on your side of the field.

And speaking of knocking it down....#19 don't catch your own tipped ball 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage and get tackled....that's the same as a sack....knock it down!!

Isn't the game sooooo easy from the stands???

I understand and it is such and easy game from the stands I don't understand how teams don't get it all right all the time... I was once chastised for saying it but these players are still kids!!!!  Shjme on them for making mistakes :D

You're right on, Narch! I saw this kid play! You're also right when you say everybody has a bad day occassionally! Happens to everybody once in a while...... :)

All the talk about CNU needing a taller QB.  2 costly tipped balls thrown by a taller QB.  At some point you just want a football player, not somebody who tells the coach he can't go back in because he bruised his none-throwing elbow.

True. I don't remember how many tipped balls I saw this past weekend with a taller QB. I know of three that were not good. The 2 picks and the one where he caught his own ball then was TFL. Coach said after the game that the stinger on his elbow was causing a lack of feeling in his right hand. That could've been disastrous trying take snaps. These types of games are hard to take - key injuries and then the team basically "Plaxicos" itself during the game. Only good news is that it was a non region game (or so I think - the NCAA makes things way too complicated for my tiny brain to figure out).

AUPOP,

Sorry, we didn't connect, however I stayed buried under an umbrella with the exception of half time  bathroom break. I agree, the defense was the difference today. I had concerns after the first half. I kept seeing W&L run that option and eating up the yardage. Then...the halftime adjustments were great....Averett stopped them cold. I haven't looked at the stats yet, but I don't think W&L had any net yards in the 4th quarter. Rookie QB has an arm, just needs to get control of it. (Over threw big time on several passes, however could have been the rain) He needs to practice the wet ball routine for about an hour @ day. Running back in second half for Averett looked good. He could find the whole and if it wasn't there he ran to one. Great speed. Looks like kicking game is back on track. I am old fashion and would like to see kickoffs between 8 and goal line (if not in the endzone). Coverage needs work but that will come. Wet fields and driving rain make it hard to really judge.

Will try to make it to the CNU game but not sure. Older son engaged to get married and I have been given my marching orders....."Show Up", "Shut Up" and "Pay Up". I no longer have any say so on the social calendar.

Hey...........UVA didn't loose Saturday. Al is safe for one more week. What a shame....Hate to be Penn State this week in practice. Joe Pa is going to make life hard on them for about 3 days if not longer. Loosing to Iowa twice in a row and getting knocked out of the hunt for title.......unacceptable.

Yeah I think Wilkes is out of region so it doesn't really hurt.  Now the only way to get in the playoffs is to win the conference.  So a win would have helped with an outside shot of making the playoffs as an at-large bid.  But now(and maybe even before), only 1 team from the USA South will make the playoffs.
