CNU85,

I don't know if the batted INT was a line issue or a QB not getting the ball off quicker. I'm a bit fuzzy. But do I recall several plays where the QB (both 19 and 7) didn't get rid of the ball quick enough. I think it is an age thing. In highschool the kids are slower and they probably had more time to sit in the pocket and figure out what they are going to do with the ball. I dont know.  Either way, they better figure something out soon. Any word on Long?

Just got back in from Danville and see others have commented on the AU game but just had to tip my hat to the AU defense, they were dominating in the 2nd half against W&L. Only allowed 38 yards passing, with 3 pics and gave up 0 yards rushing. Just a great effort.

AUPOP,

Sorry, we didn't connect, however I stayed buried under an umbrella with the exception of half time  bathroom break. I agree, the defense was the difference today. I had concerns after the first half. I kept seeing W&L run that option and eating up the yardage. Then...the halftime adjustments were great....Averett stopped them cold. I haven't looked at the stats yet, but I don't think W&L had any net yards in the 4th quarter. Rookie QB has an arm, just needs to get control of it. (Over threw big time on several passes, however could have been the rain) He needs to practice the wet ball routine for about an hour @ day. Running back in second half for Averett looked good. He could find the whole and if it wasn't there he ran to one. Great speed. Looks like kicking game is back on track. I am old fashion and would like to see kickoffs between 8 and goal line (if not in the endzone). Coverage needs work but that will come. Wet fields and driving rain make it hard to really judge.

Will try to make it to the CNU game but not sure. Older son engaged to get married and I have been given my marching orders....."Show Up", "Shut Up" and "Pay Up". I no longer have any say so on the social calendar.

Hey...........UVA didn't loose Saturday. Al is safe for one more week. What a shame....Hate to be Penn State this week in practice. Joe Pa is going to make life hard on them for about 3 days if not longer. Loosing to Iowa twice in a row and getting knocked out of the hunt for title.......unacceptable.

Not a problem, funny part is I might have been buried in the umbrella next to you. Didn't help, still got wet with the umbrella and rain gear. W&L did eat up some yards but the AU score before the half seemed to take a little starch out of them. I really like that AU came out in the 2nd half with the hurry up offense, seemed to keep the old MO going from the end of the half.. Granted only scored once but they were able to eat some time and make some first downs. Did help the defense by changing the field position. Running back was pretty good, think the o line played better 2nd half a well. They had two new starters ( one was my son) and from watching him he seemed more worried about footing than anything else early on. I would have really like to see the QB with a dry ball cause I thought the pass blocking in the second half was pretty good. He missed some open deep balls but like you said, with the elements it was pretty tough. Coaches did a nice job in the 4th, no need to take chances, I squirmed a bit when they lined up for the long field goal and was quite happy to see the fake it and a short run even if it wasn't a first down. At that point the defense was so dominating there was no need to take the gamble. I would like to see the offense get going sooner. Dont like spotting the lead every game but I think it will come around.

Guess its off to Greensboro next week..... take care. Oh yeah, don't get me started on Al.... far as I am concerned he should have been gone after William and Mary....made the mistake of wearing my UVA hat into Williamsburg day after the game.....not pretty LOL

KEEPING IT REAL

Sounds like someone got a little bitter about a taller qb.  Got to win the rest.   :D

Shenandoah University vs. CNU ... who wins and why?

SU has had an extra week to make necessary adjustments to get back into the win column after two-straight set backs.  This is a must win game for SU to get back at the .500 mark as they cannot afford to fall to 1-3 with the following remaining on their schedule :

Oct. 10 Maryville (Tenn.)
Oct. 17 @t Methodist
Oct. 24  Ferrum (Homecoming )
Oct. 31  @ Averett *
Nov. 7  @ N.C. Wesleyan
Nov. 14  Greensboro

CNU ... what's their outlook for this weekend?

Unlike you, there are some CNU fans on this board that are with CNU through thick and thin.  Everybody on this board knows you are affiliated with Tunde somehow, so why not come out and say it?

ogun2k  has misteriously disappeared. He was Ogun's uncle. He has not posted since he stated that Ogun had a torn ACL. Have a feeling he has reappeared as another poster!!!

You keep mentioning how good #23 looks running the ball and how slow #40 is.  At this point in the season Legister has been a better threat than Tunde.  I know Tunde is the better of the two, but through 3 games, he doesn't have 100 yards rushing on the season.  Like I have previously stated, when he is healthy he will be the All-American back we all remember from last year.  Unfortunately through 3 games he hasn't been healthy.

As for the QB, everybody who reads this board knows Long is my brother.  And if you don't have respect for a kid who was CNU's best defensive player as a sophomore and moved to QB because the coach told him it was best for the team then so be it.    Maybe you would gain a little respect knowing he broke his hand and separated his shoulder in the Salisbury game, but played through it.  Probably not, though, since you are a temporary CNU fan.  Just some food for thought:

RUSHING  GP  Att  Gain  Loss  Net  Avg   TD  Long  Avg/G
LEGISTER, Corey  3  45  220  6  214  4.8  1  21  71.3
LONG, Matt   2  34  149  40  109  3.2  0  20  54.5
OGUN, Tunde   3  30  76  6  70  2.3  1  8  23.3

crazylegs,

Did you get my message?

CNU85

CNUalum - I'd be willing to bet he hurt his shoulder in Dover!!! Which means he played through it the entire game against Salisbury.

CNU85

And I still say Long would have been All-American this year had he stayed on D.

CNU85

Ugh - due to family schedules - I will miss the game this weekend. Oh well - I made up for it by going to Dover.
