Natural, I do not know what game you were watching. The reason that I say that with the officiating is because there was a blatant EXTREMELY late hit on Adams on that last rushing TD that he had. I saw that from a mile away, I would of thrown the flag and sent that guy packing but yet NO FLAG. There was no since in that hit. So you can not say the officials were pulling for Greensboro when you miss a call like that.

i agree with you that the hit was late and they didnt throw a flag when they should have but that was one obvious call they missed for greensboro. how about the missed pass interference on the last touchdown greensboro had, or the endless amount of holding on greensboro when their tackles get burnt by methodist defensive ends, or the face mask on the methodist qb, or the facemask on their kickoff returner in front of the sideline judge, or an obvious onside kick that went ten yards and methodist recovered but someone the officials decided that they did not get the kick, or the strip by the methodist defense that was recovered and would have been returned for a touchdown that was called back because they said they blew the play dead because of forward progess. and by saying you would of sent the guy packing after one late it? what about number 9 of your defense throwing punches and complaining to the refs all game about how he was getting his @ss kicked by number 63 of methodist. maybe he should have been ejected. and in case you didnt read my whole post....i said the officiating was bad for both teams but since i pull for methodist i saw the officials give greensboro quite a bit of the calls.

I can honestly say I have now witnessed the ugliest performance by a college football team ever.  From the officiating, to the execution, to the uncontolled emotion, just an overall poor performance by the MU football team.

Officiating, worst ever on both sides of the line.  Didn't affect GC because they were handling business.  Wouldn't have changed the outcome, but it was bad.

Execution = Defense is bad.  It was apparent Sypult should not be leading this team.  It was with out a doubt his decision not to play one of his junior d-lineman after he jumped offsides.  Certainly it wasn't the penalty that ended his game.  If that were the case he would have benched most of his team.  The lineman he benched played 3 games injured for Sypult, missed a game and only played 2 series against GC yet he still has 1.5 more tackles than one of his replacements and 3 more than the other.  Great job Sypult.  You are way past your time.

Offense - played decent, especially the o-line.  Apparently in this league if you completely blow someone up it is considered unnecessary roughness.  Teague played good.  But remember they run what the coach tells them to.  With the number of yards they compiled in the 4th quarter, why were those plays not called the entire game.

I really fel bad for the upperclassmen thast have devoted the last 3=4 years to a coach who cannot get them there.  Sure he is a great man and all the nice things that need to be said but his record speaks for itself.  HE CANNOT TAKE A TEAM OF AVERAGE PLAYERS AND GET THEM OVER THE TOP.  HIS TIME IS OVER.

One more thing.  Kickoff team, if you are going to do the chant and the dance, please don't allow an average kickoff return of more than 30 yards.  It just looks stupid.

KEEPING IT REAL

Well, it all came down to the offensive line.  They rushed 4 guys.  All day they rushed 4 guys.  No holes for anyone.  Look at the injuries.  You are down to your 4th string quaterback.  I cannot believe there is any weight training whatsoever.  I played college ball and we were in the weight room gettin it in.  This kind of performance went on all this year.  Congrats to Maryville, they were hungry.  No 40 will have a ruff time next year if the line does not get better.  One more game and then it is over.

Perhaps someone needs to upgrade their dial-up account...

Updated Webcasted hours of live video: GC 6,000, Methodist 0
see, when i click on a link from the gc website (multiple times) and it says "the program you requested is not available", i usually assume it's NOT my broadband connection, but perhaps i'm wrong...and mu did broadcast a soccer game last week, so the score is closer than  6,000 to 0 :)

i'm glad to see that my post, rather than a fantastic season by the gc football team has brought you out of "retirement"

GuyFormerlyPSBBG

Good Evening:

This will be my only post tonight.  This post will be my only post until next season.  I'll probably have to request my password again the next time I post.

As for the USASouth this year, CNU was not on the radar to win the conference this year.  My thoughts ran even truer when they beat Salisbury.  The QB that started for SU in that game, I saw him play at my alma mater high school.  He is a solid drop back and pass QB not a option one. (To this day I still don't know why he went there.)  The point is, CNU in the past has done a good job of disturpting QB's they didn't do that against the back-up for SU. I don't think that QB would even see much playing time here in the USASouth.

As for my team, The Pride, they've had a great season so far.  In the past they hadn't taken care of the ball which led to many many losing seasons.  I think the talent has always been there, except the talent wasn't used in manner for the team to succeed.

As for the game last night,  nice job Pride.  I was at the game and would have to agree the officials were below par.  However, many posters on here through the years especially from the MU crowd have said "the officials don't influence the final result on the scoreboard" (Officials don't miss tackles, turnover the ball, complete a nice catch, or convert extra points etc, etc.)

I think the defense of MU needs to learn a little something about how to remain under control.  MU's offense I don't think once gave up and they pushed themselves to the last second.  MU's defense aside from spending less time on the golf course  ;) and more time in the weight room need to find some discipline.

The comments made about the pride teams in the past were they had no discipline. Well the MU defense had none yesterday, even worse than the pride teams in the past.  I've never in my life seen so many players after a tackle go to the opposing teams sideline and talk trash.  Maybe the coaches told MU players, after the play is over to continue to hit somebody on the pride offense.  In the past that would have worked, not so much this year.  (The pride offense did lose their cool a few times.) Look at the box score, the pride had almost as many penalty first downs as they did with running first downs.

Both teams should be applauded for the post game handshakes.  There wasn't a fight and there easily could have been one. Some of the expressions on the MU player's faces after the game were looks of "How did we lose to them?" Get over it.  This is a better Pride football team.

MU fans are calling for the head coach to resign, if that is what you believe then support it.  My advice for the MU defensive coaches.  Start the 2nd team defense.  You know they want to play hard.  It doesn't have to be for more than one series, maybe it will show the 1st teamers what it means to go out shut your mouths and play football.

Maybe there needs to be porta-potty's on the vistor side, because several MU players decided to use the sideline as a bathroom.  There were many cameras going off around me and they were all single college aged girls.  You did have a few fans on the GC side.

Hey Guy, welcome back!  +1 old timer!

Glad to see you posting.

Come back soon.

before anyone calls for someone's job, think about yourself...would you want someone hiding behind the anonymity of some internet message board saying "that accountant has to go...he can never get that balance sheet right"...these are tough times during which to be unemployed...would you want someone you don't know, who has little idea what you do on a day-to-day basis to suggest that you should resign or be fired? - i'm trying to figure out what the upside of publicly calling out the coaching staff is...do you want to ensure that the players have the seed of doubt planted firmly? do you really think an internet message board is the appropriate forum for calling out the coaching staff? if you feel that strongly, man up, drop the anonymity and speak to the coaching staff or AD...this isn't d1 football with huge buy-outs and semi-professional players

cn85...keep your chin up, man...it's all about perspective - had you made the comments about the quality of play in a game that cnu won, nobody would pay the comments any mind (i've made similar comments after mu wins, including the win vs. su earlier this season) - with almost 2,000 posts, few of which involved whining or crying, i think you've earned enough credibility on these boards to call it as you see it every once in a while...ugly football is ugly football, even if your team loses

psbbg - welcome back, don't be a stranger, and you're right...officiating rarely, if ever, determines the outcome of games

I see that is there is hate and discontent IRT the zebras. Well it's nothing you can fix in the state of NC. Many if not most of the officials you will see on Saturday afternoon in D3 just finshed up with high school JV game the prior Thursday evening or if your lucky the high scool game near Burgaw. From 2001-2004 I saw the 2nd worse officiating in my life. The worse being middle school games in Havelock. You expect that but not at the college level. I have always stood by my thought that you should have least suited up at some level for the spo rt you about to call, if it be tennis even.

Looking at some of those guys it looks like they have a problem getting out of their cars. It's just sad that a coach puts in 90-100 hours a week and then gets "porked" (read something else) by a overweight toad who is probably deeply jealous of those guys who do suit up. I am sure it is some sick Freudian thing nobody wants to wedge out of them.

I feel better now.  :)
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

i can assure you that the head coach at methodist does not put in 90-100 hours a week. as for calling for his job, he has not won an away game in two almost three years. i believe the last away win was at maryville two years ago. this year their two wins are from a team in ODAC that has not won a game and shenadoah who has not won a conference game. they should have lost to guilford if the kicker who made everything before that missed a fg. the head coach needs to be replaced and some positional coaches need replacing.

The facts are relatively easy to check on these things, but Guilford's 3-6, 2-3 and could have rather realistically won three more (Greensboro, W&L and, as you note, MU). From what I hear, Sypult's done a lot for Methodist as a whole and MU football in particular - I wouldn't be so hasty to negate all of that.

Narch, I usually agree with most everything you post, however, I must disagree with your last post.  It is not a matter of the head coach being unemployed.  It is more of a situation where the head coach needs to retire.  I understand that Sypult has been with MU for 18-19 years and there are many former players that think favorably of him.  However, former players are not playing for him now.  Regardless of the division a team is in or whether it is high school, college or pros for that matter, supporters of an athletic program expect that team to improve over the years.  That just hasn't happened at MU.  With the exception of the co-championship many years ago, MU has not been a contender in football at all.  You can blame the players, you can blame the conference, you can blame the facilities, you can blame the cheerleaders.  But it boils down to the coach that is responsible for well being of a football program.  Do not get me wrong.  I know that MU is made up of average football players.  Most were the best on their high school teams yet they are not the elite athletes in this region.  If they were, they would not be at MU or any other DIII school for that matter.  This season has been a disaster.  In earlier posts we talked about recruiting.  Does the MU alumni really believe that MU can recruit the best players with the type of program they have now?  I cannot think of one athletic program that would continually get support based on the performance record of the MU football team over the last 18 years.  I am sure Sypult is a great man who has done a lot for MU.  Sometimes a person has done all he is capable of and I truly think this is one of those cases.

A remember, you yourself said this board was designed for people to share their thoughts.  Maybe not the place to call for a coaching change, but still the thoughts of the fans.

Congrats to GC.  A much improved team that honestly could beat anyone on any given day.  For the GC supporters, please don't take our dissatisfaction with Saturdays game as an insult.  The Pride did what they had to do.

I apologize for the fans and the MU football team.  I think our level of frustration has finally started running over.

It was very sad to see some of our fans react the way they did as well as some of the "thug like" behavior from some of our players.  Frustration has resulted in many bad decisions.

Great job GC.  I hope you continue to improve.  Your fans are surely proud of what you have accomplished this year.

moshergc9

Big time win for the pride.  Can offensive cordinators get coach of the year?

Im making plans to go watch the SU GC game sat.  Would be nice to see history.

As for calling for your head coaches head because a dlineman got benched.  thats just absurd.  He should have stayed onsides.

This is going to be the best offseason for the pride in 8yrs. Thats awesome!

plus cnu lost to someone new!

Mosh, you are usually accurate with your posts.  Who called for the coaches job because he benched a d-lineman?  I think I used that for an example of the coaching decision making, but I believe that most of the people calling for a change are basing it on an overall performance by MU over, lets say, the last decade.

musupporter

I think I am going with PSBBG, this is my last post.

I wish the best for all USA South teams.  I hope they continue to improve to the point no one is surprised when they beat someone.

To the MU fans.  I hope their program finds the way.  They are a lost program that needs direction.

I enjoy this board but do not wish to create controversy or plant the seeds for current/future players at MU.

And since I was raised to believe if you can't say anything good, don't say anything, I will sign off with best regards to all who support DIII football.

Happy recruiting and be safe.
