Bishop 64,

I want to agree with you on your reaction to the small minded comments made on the ACFC board about NCW.  I would have posted this on the ACFC board but it would have done no good.   I was at Wesley for a playoff game a few years ago and it was the most unsportsmanlike, arrogant, pompus place that I have ever attended a game.  There is a reason that the "4 team" conference that Wesley is a part of is losing two teams and Wesley has trouble getting games.  It does not surprise me that Wesley fans or parents of Wesley players are belittling others to make themselves feel better.  It has been that way for some time.

His defense of "I have read much worse about my team from others" is so pathetic it does not deserve a playground response.

There are so many things that are great about Division III athletics that a few bad apples cannot spoil the barrel.

Thank you for supporting and defending your team.  Congratulations to the Bishops on a great season.

Thanks, AUFAN40!  I have seen a lot of criticism on this board, but most of it has been directed at their own team, which all of us do occasionally because none of us like to loose. However, when you score 50+ points and win a game big that is enough insult in itself without having the victor criticize the loosing player's abilities or disabilities. It seems to be that is over stepping the bounds and slapping the young men again in the face. We applaud Wesley's victory and I doubt that many of Wesley's players would take that attitude. I wish then well in their Quest and hope they are successful.

We may have our problems in the USAC, but I am confident that this conference will strengthen. Next year, if we don't beat ourselves to death, I think the conference should be very interesting!

Just popping up again to throw insuts Wesley's way?  Isn't that you MO? Change your name and come on the boards and start fires? That problem with the fans was addressed 4 yrs ago. And many rules were put in place to eradicate those problems.

I was impressed with NCWC players. I was also impressed with the way they played. Wesley just played better and took adventage of some good field position and it snow balled. IMHO the Bishops represented themselves well!
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

Any word on the status on Shenandoah for USA South football games?  I know that there has been talk about Shenandoah joining the ODAC.   Has that been decided and if so what is the timing?

Not very fair to lump all of Wesley COllege into one bitter parent's mouth. I feel Wesley has been very classy in the last 4 or 5 years. I know other programs where coaches curse in press box and teams acts the same way on the field. I think if it was such a bad program in actions it would reflect in the win loss column as well.

Wesley fan, I have all the respect in the world for the Wesley players, coaches and their fans. I don't think anyone is attacking them! But, I do think if a fan cannot control his words better than rub it in on a team that was defeated badly, that particular fan should be called out. The players themselves feel bad enough without that. I wish your boys the best and sincerely hope they make it all the way to the Stagg Bowl. But words have consequences, and what you say sometimes  may not seem harsh to you can often be taken in another light.

Good Luck to Wesley the rest of the way!

bishop64, upon further reflection I will make sure that I choose my words better the next time I talk about a game.  I will apologize if my words were taken differently than meant to be.  good luck next year.

KEEPING IT REAL

Hey it is what it is. Wesley is a very good team.  I mean very good.  I feel like this, do the talking on the field and if you can back it up keep talking.  It's football not ballet. I'm not a fan of Wesley but I'm a fan of football and there is no crying in football. And if any other fans feel bad tell your team to get their weight up.

Wesleydad, Apology accepted. I hold no hard feelings. I wish your team the very best in the playoffs and I will be pulling for them. I think you have a great ballclub. You should be proud of them as I am of the Bishops. We're still young, but the kids give it all they have and that really is all you can ask for. The memories, good or bad,  they take away from the game will last them a life time.
Go wesley!

rex ryan disagrees...
I wondered who'd jet to the head of the class!  My bet was on you, narch.  With Sanchez getting four picks today, Ryan should buy a case of Kleenex - or better yet, wait for the endorsement deal he mentioned!  :)  +1

From my perspective when Averett visted Wesley in 2006 the Wesley fans and players were pleasant and friendly. My wife and I had pleasure of talking to several of the fans/parents while we tailgated and after the game while we waiting for our son to come out of the locker room. The Wesley fans were polite and I never heard anything negative the whole time we were in Dover. I rode around Dover the day before the game with Averett flags flying on the car and so forth and not once did anyone harass us or do any thing wrong. Hell, I even rode around on the campus and took in the sights and even the students behaved. Never heard the first ugly comment.

You are always going to have one or two who like to be heard above everyone else but that is true anywhere you go. All of our schools have these folks and we just ignore them and try to make our schools respectable.

For the NCWC folks, you have nothing to be ashamed of, you had a great season and you should hold your heard high and be proud. Same thing for Wesley players, parents and fans, you have a good ball team and should be be roud as well. Good luck during the rest of the playoffs.

A few comments:

1. Congrats to Tunde on the honor.
2. Why have I never heard of this? You would have thought Rob rodriguez would have been selected. Maybe he was but decided to play on Team USA in the World Cup of American Football.
3. the story mentions it is a scholarship event. So, just how does this game help DIII? I can see the other divisions.
