I'm glad he ran over the D1-AA and D-2 players because he certainly didn't run over the D3 players on Maryville's defense just a few weeks before he played in the Bowl game.  He ran soft and tenative, fumbled the ball twice and got stuff on a 4&1.  Hopefully someone will pick him up after the draft if they believe he can return to the way he played in 2008.  NFL teams always need RB's during camp and he's got the size for someone to give him the opportunity.

KEEPING IT REAL

Take a look at their line last year and the line a year before. And he played the season on a bum knee. Give me facts that warrent your explanation. So you are telling me the line was no factor?  Give me a break.

Is that the Sporting News article that said he lacked the quickness to burst through the holes and the speed to get to the corner?

Yeah but what did the rest say. Say the whole article not just the negative part. Come on. I know your better than that. You quote everthing else. Oh yeah, bum knee. Played at 65 to 70% in that game and every game after Wesley.

keeping it real...there is no question tunde ogun has a huge heart and playing hurt behind a less than stellar line hurt his production...he clearly was NOT at his best this season - 6'0", 218 lb rb's who run a 4.5 to 4.6 40 who played college ball at the d3 level simply don't typically find their way to an nfl team through the draft...i hope tunde does, but i just don't see it happening - if i can motivate him in any way, though, i'm glad to do so...just as pierre garcon is a great thing for d3 football, tunde ogun being drafted would be fantastic, as well

here is the "whole article"...i think pat summed it up pretty well

Average life cycle for NFL TB is less than 5 year or right about that. Just to get there at 6 feet 218 would be very hard. But signing a contract as undrafted versus drafted would be good to go. If he does not get the nod and does not get a undrafted free agent offer within 48 hours he will not get his shot. lets hope he does. I am sure everyone is pulling for him. Who cares how he gets in....

As a former OLB at Lees McRae back in the day of course I would want to know his head off.    ;)

Hello to all.  Seems like forever until season starts but spring practices/workouts are right around the corner.  I hope all is well with everyone and we can go into this upcoming season with a new perspective and attitude.  For me personally, last season was a learning experience and I know I will be looking at it from a new point of view.  The Monarchs have really vamped up their lifting program during the off season and there appears to be a new attitude on the team.  MU lost several key players to graduation but are returning numerous starters on each side of the ball along with some players that saw a lot of time.  Looking forward to "chattin it up" with the rest of the USA South fans.

Hey there MU supporter...You are correct, I am ready for the season to start also. Just curious about your assessment of the Methodist returning players. I write a blog about Ferrum Football, and in one article rate each team based on their recruiting needs. Few needs would get the highest rating or an A (A,B,C,D,F) and the team with the largest recruiting needs got a lower score. I have the following posted about MU.

Methodist University

Methodist, after another disappointing season, will have 19 Seniors departing. Among those is Quarterback Erik Teague. The Monarchs will also lose 9 defensive players, 5 of which appeared in the majority of the Methodist games. The Monarchs O-Line will be hit hard by graduation, and this will likely be the main recruiting focus for the Monarch coaches.

Overall I rated them  D, and thought of the 8 teams, they ranked last with the most significant recruiting needs.

Not being argumentative, but just wondering if I am way off.

Allen C,

what's your blog address? I wasn't aware.

Good job on the blog Allen C.  Thought you did a very thorough job looking at recruiting needs for conference teams.  I agree we need to start talking up our teams during the spring.  Looking at other conferences posts, we've been asleep most of the winter and it's time to start waking up.

For my Fighting Scots, we lost Hightower who was the leading rusher in school history.  But we did not have a real strong running game this season due to a average offensive line.  The line got better at the end of the season when Coach I started playing more freshmen to get them experience for the '10 season.  We graduated 3 offensive linemen and our starting TE.  QB should be fine with Conner coming back for his senior season, but we have to do a better job protecting him and develop depth at that position.  We just lose 1 WR.  Idlette will be a junior and coming off a great sophomore season.

Losing Kyle Chewning is a big loss for our defense.  Kyle was a 3 time first-team All-Conference player, 2008 USA-South Def. POY, & HM All-American linebacker.  Lose 1 defensive end in Joel Byars and return all of our starters in our secondary.

We need others to jump in and give us an assesment of their team's recruiting needs.......
